Knoebels Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We'll be there Saturday and Sunday. And it's way too early to look at the weather, it will only stress you out. Plus they run basically everything in the rain and if it storms go eat amazing food, ride 2 amazing dark rides, or the great Carousel, or check out the 2 cool museums or ride the Kozmotron, or the Teacups, or play Fascination... don't worry, there will be no shortage of great things to do. I's impossible to have a bad day at Knoebels. Then when the storms pass go ride Phoenix and Twister on wet rails. Hopefully you're done debating now. lol PS: Knoebels please PM me for my new address so you can send the commission checks. Cash is fine too. -

I'd kill for Tony Clark's job. I'm sure it's stressful as hell sometimes but god it looks like fun. -

So the Thunder Run VR add on is optional I assume? If so, I'm all for it. -

Agreed, turn away and slam the door. -
Whats your favorite Vekoma?

... probably because it's awesome. I'll never understand the Vekoma flyer hate. -

Oh yeah Tony probably stepped over the line here. There's absolutely no place for light hearted fun within a community that literally visits f**king amusement / "fun" parks all the time. This is serious business. Stop having fun, it's pissing us off. ... anyway in all seriousness I was incredibly entertained. Tony Clark is the man. Keep up the good work. -

Since we all need more vertical videos in our lives, apparently this is where it valleyed. It would seem like they could easily winch it as it's right near the final brakes but I don't know what the procedure is when it's over water. I'm sure that makes it way more annoying... Twitter Link -

It sounds like the only coasters running are Maverick, Blue Streak, and Rougarou. Good for Rougarou, hopefully it never stops in the mid course or they might as well leave it there all night because it's never making it back. lol It'll be interested to see how they get that Iron Dragon train, hopefully they don't move the webcam so we can find out. -

With wind like that it's impossible to say what would be open. Assuming the forecast is right i'd say there's a chance that Maverick will open, Corkscrew could open but it's not scheduled to open Friday nights so never mind ... Rougarou is a possibility, maybe the woodies... Who knows. Unless they blow the forecast forget about Raptor, Gatekeeper and Dragster and Magnum and Millennium Force are most likely out of the question too. On a night like tonight if anyone actually shows up I never understood why they didn't just try launching some Dragster trains. I get why a lot of rides can't operate but if Dragster rolls back a few times, who cares? If they try 4 or 5 times and it fails every time I understand that but a lot of times it goes down for wind after clearing the tower with no issues for an extended period of time just because the wind speed kicked up a few mph and I never understood that. Does anyone have any insight? I'm sure there's a reason for this policy but I don't know what it is. -

I just checked the weather, seriously call the park and beg to switch the dates. Even if they charge you something to do it just do it. -
Whats your favorite Vekoma?
coasterbill replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goliath at SFNE was my favorite Vekoma but it's now easily my least favorite thanks to the crappy new train that manages to give you unimaginable headbanging on perfectly straight track. I guess I'll go with Nighthawk at Carowinds now. I like all Vekoma flyers and that one has a great setting. -
The only way to know for sure if the wind is a problem is to hit the dispatch button and see if the train comes back. If it does then it's not a problem. If it valleys then they'll move on to the next coaster and do the same thing and see if they get different results. That's seriously the wind policy... It's great.

It may be due to the fact that I'm currently a long way away from sober but this post made me literally laugh out loud.
