  1. I can’t even make sense of what this argument is about, but everyone really needs to chill out.
  2. Their water park is awful and Mall of America is in the process of building one right down the road. Water parks make a ton of money and they’re going to be facing a ton of competition soon so they really need to bring it up to modern-day standards. The theme park is facing no real competition of any kind. I get it, I’d prefer it if they built a crazy new coaster instead but investing heavily in the water park is a much more sensible decision right now.
  3. I love that ride as long as you don't wait 90 minutes to be an engineer.
  4. I really never thought they would open a park an hour from my house with a drop tower and 5 coasters open 365 days a year and I would never ever ever go there but... here we are.
  5. I really don't believe that people would have been any less angry, but since that isn't how this played out we can't do anything about it other than agree to disagree I guess. At the end of the day he had no obligation to communicate anything to anyone. Also, in his defense the park is still operating as a park for now. If I had to venture a guess, would I say that I expect this place to exist in 10 years? No. Still though, it's not that unreasonable of an argument that the park might be more profitable without the ride that probably took up the vast majority of their maintenance budget and an old Tumble Bug that was probably impossible to get replacement parts for.
  6. I still don't understand why we're supposed to hate this guy. If he outbid a bunch of other people who wanted to keep it as an amusement park then yeah, I could see why fans of the park would be disappointed but he was the only one who even bothered to bid because nobody wanted the place. He bought an entire amusement park and giant waterfront property for $1.2 million. None of these preservationist groups put in a bid. Even if someone scraped together some money on GoFundMe and put in a losing bid, at least we could say that SOMEONE wanted the place but nobody else did. Obviously I've always been vocal about how much I disliked this park but I'm really not taking this stance because of that. If Standard Amusements came in and said "We're going to buy it, bring in GCI to fix up the coaster, clean the place up and add a bunch of new rides" I would have been like "F*ck yeah!" and I WISH that happened but it didn't. Also, they put the rides up for sale including Blue Streak at one point. Nobody bought them. They probably would have let someone take that thing for free if they covered the cost of getting it out of there but again... nobody wanted it. Nobody wanted the park or the coaster but everyone wanted to tell the only guy who did want it how he was supposed to run the place that they couldn't be bothered to bid a single penny on.
  7. Try restarting your computer and clicking it again.
  8. Not so fast! The park has announced the first of many exciting events for the new season… … go ahead and Google it. I assure you that this is real.
  9. Honestly, probably not. lol Are we even sure that Harley Quinn Spinsanity is leaving or is it just off the map because it's experiencing another typical 11-month-long breakdown before it opens again one day early next year, shocks the world, cycles 1 1/2 times and breaks down again as-is tradition?
  10. I don't want to act like I'm an expert on the politics of a state where I don't live but my gut says that nothing noteworthy will come out of this. There will be a lot of headlines, there will be a lot of talk, there will be a lot of time and money wasted on legal battles on each side but at the end of the day, Disney will probably call their bluff. Disney will probably also do it in a way that won't be inflammatory and they'll probably wait and let this whole thing die down first. They don't want a political battle with either side. It's too late for that now, but I still expect them to do whatever they can to try and diffuse the situation. That said, Ron DeSantis won the Governor's election by about 32,000 votes. He got about 219,000 votes from Orange and Osceola county. He didn't win those counties, but it's all popular vote anyway so it doesn't matter. I don't really expect the Republicans to let the taxpayers foot the bill for that debt and drive property taxes up by thousands of dollars when if they lose even 15% of those 219,000 people in those two counties that voted for him, all other things being equal they will lose the next election. I expect Ron DeSantis to sign this and claim victory. Then my guess would be that this ends up in an expensive court battle and/or a negotiation where Disney concedes some things they don't care about but we end up with something very similar to what we have now where both sides can still feel like they won.
  11. This is frustrating because this topic actually is relevant and it would be interesting to be be able to discuss the logistics of it and predictions on how it will play out but it's 2022. It's now absolutely impossible for grown adults to have this conversation without aggressively injecting their own political views into it to the point where it turns into a flame war within like 3 posts.
  12. So what year is this thing supposed to open?
  13. Raise your hand if you forgot that this was a thing… Source: The park’s Facebook
  14. I like them, but I like them in the same way that I like a lot of flipping flat rides. They're fun for what they are but I usually don't ride them.
  15. I get why people want to compare these rides, but I’m really not going to do it because they’re nothing alike. Space Mountain (in all of its forms) is a rollercoaster with very, very light theming on the actual ride by Disney standards. Mummy is much more of a dark ride where the coaster sections themselves are much less impressive than the ones on Space Mountain and are broken up by lots of show scenes but the whole experience is fantastic. I’m not picking a favorite and you can’t make me. I’ve been on Orlando Mummy, Paris, Anaheim and Orlando Space (and I love them all for different reasons). I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite of the three Space Mountains I’ve been on, let alone compare them to Mummy. I love the Paris mountain for being so unique (and more “coaster” than I’d expect from Disney), I love the Anaheim one for being a ton of fun and very polished ride, I love the Orlando one for being “Magnum in Space” and bringing a hilariously aggressive ride experience to a park where it doesn’t fit in at all and I’m surprised that it doesn’t kill people’s grandparents multiple times per day.
  16. Prices for the ferris wheel have been announced and they're actually not too insane. The wheel will open on April 13th and will offer incredible views of the Jersey Turnpike and the roof of the mall.
  17. This place is so weird. Imagine being able to afford two custom steel looping coasters but not a website.
  18. There are instances of rides being removed right after being repainted / re-tracked... whatever but they're few and far between. When you combine the fact that it was painted a month ago with a crazy new color scheme AND the fact that this guy just had two instances where he posted a stupid rumor like this and was shot down publicly by the park almost immediately then (while possible) the odds of this rumor being true are insanely, insanely, INSANELY low and even if he thought it was credible he'd be sort-of a jackass to post it after the last two times. Also, I know that he said he's "not saying that Xcelerator is done by any means" to cover himself, but that's what the entire rest of that post was implying.
  19. Yeah, they just painted this ride like a month ago. What a jackass...
  20. This is horrible. The conversation about whether or not they checked him makes it feel even more surreal that this could actually happen in the way that it did.
  21. You're putting way too much thought into this.
  22. This is a weird take, but I actually feel like if this park just went back to exactly the way that it was in 2015 it would be a better park. Much prettier, better food, better Mystery Mine, Slidewinder and no coaster that never works making you feel like you're missing out when you show up and it's closed 50% of the time. The only thing that I'd miss is Drop Line and a few infrastructure upgrades.
  23. This is such an impossible question to answer. The only wrong answer here is Universal Studios Florida. I could see the argument for any of the others and my favorite would be whatever I'm in the mood for that day. Best theming goes to Animal Kingdom hands down and if you like animals too then it's going to crush all of the others. "Best rides" depends on what type of rides you like, Islands is a great mix and has the best coasters and 2 incredible dark rides but I could also see the argument for Hollywood Studios because Rise of the Resistance and Tower of Terror exist.
  24. I still love that they clear-cut a forest to make an area themed to trees with no trees in it. It's like the new Lorax movie but real, also that movie sucks and so does Wildwood Grove.
