  1. That's a cool perk for hotel guests. They can beat the mad rush of people to Magnum XL 200.
  2. It’s shocking to me that any park would consider not having their busiest event of the year. If you need more security, hire more security. If you need less crowds with that insane demand, black out low level passes and raise prices to make even more money. It’s crazy to me that Cedar Fair would consider this but this is the chain that closed Dorney for staffing on the 4th of July and opened everything 2-3 months late last year for no reason and operated at a loss while all of their competitors turned a profit so maybe they just hate money. As a fan, I like the sound of less crowds in September and October but from their perspective… lol
  3. Yeah, It’s pretty clearly posted on the website and the app and the early entry schedule changes all the time to different rides / different parks so people should always check that. It’s annoying that their most popular ride isn’t on the list, but it’s not like they hide this fact at all.
  4. It was always weird to me that they never incorporated Hershey brands into anything in the park other than one dark ride and some height sticks. I'm glad they're switching that up the last few years.
  5. Did you mean to quote me? I’m confused.
  6. I have no idea what the future holds for this ride and nothing would surprise me, but I also don’t think that the chain that recently removed Volcano the Blast Coaster from Kings Dominion cares about this type of intangible thing. Every single thing is a math equation to them comparing revenue that a ride generates (which admittedly is difficult to come up with but they have plenty of metrics to try) to the costs and liabilities involved with operating the ride. That’s it.
  7. When this accident happened, Kingda Ka never even closed (seriously… not even for a day). It doesn’t appear to be something that they’re concerned about on that ride.
  8. Some of the “retro squad” rides will apparently be returning. Funk’n’Fly is a blast. They should keep it forever.
  9. I really hope they're just trying to flip this company and they succeed in that mission as fast as possible.
  10. It’s also a matter of flying out of airports where Spirit and Frontier compete. We always find the cheapest fares from PHL. Less competition is not going to lead to lower fares.
  11. I wouldn't plan any Tuesday or Wednesday trips in May or June if I were you. This year's plan to address their endless staffing shortages is to cut starting pay by 25%. Cedar Point Cedar Point now hiring for 6,500 jobs ahead of 2022 season: Starting pay drops $5 an hour compared to last year
  12. Occasionally I check this park's website to see if they ever lowered prices or offered a season pass (the answer is no), but I came across this thing that I don't see them advertising anywhere. I actually love this but I can't tell if it's a one-off thing or not. Also, their two best coasters and the drop tower are closed right now, so no. lol
  13. There are a million questions here but I’ll try my best. First of all: when in May? Are we talking Memorial Day weekend here or mid-week in early May? There’s a massive difference. As for the hotel question, it depends but if you’re not wanting to rent a car I’m tempted to tell you to stay on-site. First off, you’ll save on the hotel parking fee. Second of all, while some nearby hotels that I do like offer a shuttle (The Comfort Inn on Canada Avenue comes to mind), it’s easier to just use Universal transportation when leaving the parks. Their budget hotels are very competitive and reasonable and you get in early. If you want to go bigger, stay at a hotel with free Express Pass. Some of those hotels (like Royal Pacific) are also just fantastic hotels. The Universal AP is a great deal compared to their day ticket but price it out. Note that if you come back in the fall you can ride Mummy, so that alone may convince you. You know what days you want to go though. Put it in the calendar and price it out. There are really no additional considerations here so it’s 100% a matter of admission price. The Seasonal Pass has no benefit aside from admission whatsoever unless they run a passholder hotel deal which they usually do in September. Two days is perfect. Express pass will probably make your day better but whether-or-not you “need” it depends on when you go. Memorial Day? Yes. A Tuesday and Wednesday in early May? Maybe not. It’s never a bad thing to have it, but I get that it can be incredibly expensive and it doesn’t work on Hagrid’s or Velocicoaster which is annoying. If you want Express, look to stay at a hotel that includes it. It may be cheaper than actually buying it separately for two days and you’ll be at a better hotel where you can walk or take a boat to the parks. If you’re there for two days, every dark ride and simulator is worth riding except for Fast and the Furious and Fallon. Minions is cute but tends to get insane lines for no reason so it’s skippable without Express if the line is long. If you get express, then just ride every ride except for Fast and the Furious because seriously f*ck that ride. It sucks and has two horrible pre shows that you’ll need to sit through too. The only reason to ride this ride is out of morbid curiosity or for bragging rights so that you can say you’ve now ridden the worst ride in Orlando and possibly the world. The water rides are all good but note that while Jurassic Park River Adventure is a must-ride, the other two are much wetter and will positively soak you to the bone. Don’t ride Ripsaw Falls or the rapids if you’re not okay with that. Don’t miss the Bourne Stuntacular. Best food: Disney Springs (uh… I mean… I don’t know, I liked Big Fire and Toothsome). Just Uber to the park, it’s not that far.
  14. Go on Saturday. Fastlane is awesome at Kings Island.
  15. This seems like the kind of thing that they’ll figure out as time goes on. I doubt it stays this strict for too long.
  16. Fiesta Texas is weird. It's a much, much higher quality of park than any other American Six Flags park and I have no clue why. They paint things, they theme things and they maintain things. It's wild. The only other Six Flags park that's on their level is Six Flags Mexico. I'm not really sure what I'd call the best in the chain. For me, it's probably either Fiesta or Great Adventure for entirely different reasons. One looks great and has a very good coaster lineup. One has a world-class coaster lineup that includes El Toro but also looks like a crack den.
  17. If I were on that flight I'd be pissed too, and it's funny but in reality I've never in my life understood the complaints about Frontier. I break it down into two categories (aside from crazy circumstances like this): 1) People with unrealistic expectations. These are the people who go to Applebees and complain that their $8 burger is medium and not medium well. I grade them on a curve because they're Frontier. If I flew from New York to Orlando for less than it costs me to take a train into New York City from my house an hour away am I really supposed to get mad when my plane lands 40 minutes late or when the seat isn't very comfortable on my very-short flight (but is still better than United)? Am I really going to get mad when they want to charge me $2 for chips on a $25 flight and say that I would have free chips if I would have just flown on the $120 flight instead? Also, if they are 45 minutes late they'll give you a voucher that usually makes the flight basically free. 2) People who don't read, even when the text is huge and in giant red boxes and then show up at the airport claiming that there are hidden fees even though they agreed to them 3 times during the booking process. If you need checked bags and a huge carry-on, this airline isn't for you but you knew the size limits when you bought your ticket, I check that on every airline. The only fees that are really tough to find are the fee to print a paper boarding pass and to make a reservation over the phone and not on the website but honestly, what year is it? You should not book a connection a budget airline ever, but that should be common sense. I also prefer to fly from airports with multiple flights per day so I have options rather than a very small one with like 2 flights per week, but that's just me. The only gripe with them that I feel is legitimate is that they always change flight times a few weeks / months out. I absolutely hate that. One positive is that their customer service is excellent. If you call American, they call you back in 9 hours. If you call Frontier you'll be talking to a human within 5-15 minutes every time. Frontier isn't for everyone but even all things being equal, I don't think they're the worst airline that I've flown. JetBlue makes Frontier look punctual. I love their in-flight experience once you actually manage to get on the plane but they always screw us. American is a train wreck. Their website sucks, their customer service sucks and can't even use their crappy website properly and their hold times are often 8-9 hours. They also put us on a plane at Newark once and then told us that the pilot was stuck in traffic on the George Washington Bridge and would be there in an hour. Even Frontier would laugh at that... Also, the most unruly passenger I've ever seen (once on the plane) was also on American Airlines. lol
  18. They closed Dorney every Monday and Tuesday for staffing, but since the 4th of July was on a Sunday, the federal holiday was observed on a Monday and they didn’t make any adjustments for that. Every other park in the area had waits exceeding 2 hours that day because it was a federal holiday in the summer. They were closed and reopened on Wednesday when everyone was at work.
  19. I've heard this rumor about a few Cedar Fair parks. I'm going to assume that even Cedar Fair isn't this stupid, but this is the same chain that closed Dorney on the 4th of July for staffing.
  20. How did I know you'd be the one that's actually been on both? lol Thanks!
  21. Do we know how many people rode both Ride to Happiness and Velocicoaster? I'm assuming with travel restrictions, the answer is "Probably @Canobie Coaster and like 1 other person. lol" I'd be interested to see what happens when there are more mutual riders between the two.
  22. Also, which ride had more downtime this year? The #1 or #2 best coaster in the world?
