  1. You're correct. That area was maintained and was a nice picnic area. I believe all 3 original Six Flags parks featured this but I don't know where Over Georgia's is/was (my guess might be the area that Goliath's turnaround now occupies) - the only one with a functional picnic area now is Over Texas.

  2. Having the rides open was definitely not premium. I'm glad they made everything premium now.

  3. God no leave the parking lot alone, they'll use that as an excuse to charge even more to use it.

  4. Danrarbc beat me to it, but I did find some throwback pictures of the park along with the 1971 park map with the picnic area in the bottom left.

  5. Got to ride this 10 times today in all different spots of the train. Can confirm Fun Spot has a winner on its hands, and now has the best coaster in the state. Everything on this ride is great and there is 0 wasted space. Double up followed by the barrel roll over the arcade is by far my favorite part.

  7. Lol, if you guys think the regular parking lot is bad you should see the employee lot. Looks like the aftermath of a nuclear war, which is sometimes enhanced by broken down ride carcasses living there. Although no guests can really see it, but every little thing to attract workers. Just saying. I'm ok with them just getting rid of the original themed areas at this point because as so many have pointed out, they are pretty much non existent anyway now. I would love it if they took one of the not often used buildings and made a little history museum type thing showing the park history (ala CP's town hall) and original "lands" and rides and how they connected to the history of the STL area, etc. etc. I do realize only history nerds like me and old people looking for air conditioning would probably frequent it but it would still be cool.

  8. I think this is a great, valid, and topical question. I have many of the same feelings as posters above but will add something else that we've done in the past and will continue to do. OFFSET! You know when you buy airfare and they tell you that if you pay a little more you can offset your carbon emissions for the flight? I do that for some of the places we visit! In the past I have donated to Women's and Gay Rights organizations when visiting the Middle East. The LDF, ACLU, and NAACP when in certain US States. And now will probably add Abortion Rights and LGBTQ+ orgs in our US Visits as well. Like others have said, I will not let stupid laws and rules that most of the public doesn't even support stop me from doing something I love and making me happy, but I absolutely can choose to spend the bare minimum in certain places or with certain brands. Everyone who does our trips know that I will go out of my way to avoid Chick Fil A and try to stop the bus at food stops where that's not even an option but I'm not going to ban someone from eating there, I'll just try to educate them on either better options or the offset theory that I use! We have been very vocal since before it was a thing that we don't support JK Rowling but Kristen loves Harry Potter and I'm not going to deny her something she loves because of that horrible bitch! I'll just continue to be vocal about it so people can at least know that she's terrible! Hope this helps and makes sense!

  9. If I decided to only visit places where the government has never done anything shitty or to only support businesses that have never done anything shitty or donated to anything shitty then I would never leave my house. Brit and I are both politically engaged but this is not something that we worry about 99.9% of the time.

  10. after a full morning/afternoon at SeaWorld San Antonio (enjoying the Seven Seas Food Festival), we popped into SFFT for a bit on the way home. Glad we did, as they were doing Passholder Appreciation weekend, with a voucher to come back for some event (launch party?) for the new Kid Flash coaster later this "early summer". but a better reason was to ride Miss Kitty (as the train is now back running - AND Gully Washer finally reopened yesterday too). but the best reason? they have the new Boomerang train on display in front of the coaster as they have already started the work on it (maintenance guys were up on the cobra roll during our visit) some pics: not a pop in without a stop to see Miss Connie in Sangerfest! and ride my Bowie Bunny on the Carousel we also got on Miss Kitty which was finally back up and running (tho we had a delay due to "something on the tracks" = not sure what it was, but prayers to a likely flat squirrel. and then we wandered over to Boomerang where the park had just put out this display today. the new cars look great, and I really like the explanation of the changes!
