  1. I know I’m late to the party, but may I complain about SV’s queue? I don’t like it, and it detracts from my enjoyment of an amazing coaster. Firstly, I feel like the ride offers bad Fast Lane value. The FL merge point is too early in the queue—guaranteeing a substantial FL wait (unless the standby line is nonexistent). And in my experience, the standby line rarely exceeds the merge point by much to begin with. Secondly, the locker/metal detector area always feels chaotic to me—with poor traffic patterns and people generally not understanding what they’re supposed to do or where they’re supposed to go. Thirdly, I hate how the two lines to the station are usually different in length and flow—meaning that I often watch someone who was behind me in line get on a couple of trains before me. While I appreciate CP’s investment in the innovative locker system, I wish they’d continue playing with the overall queue to improve it.

  2. Defiance has officially opened with the grand opening here on July 9th. Trains look super spiffy. Full article below. Side note there is a lot more coming with the project. https://www.9news.com/amp/article/life/style/colorado-guide/roller-coaster-glenwood/73-4138d00d-967e-4d2b-883d-bb962dfbb859

  5. Well there were zero storms but everything was a walk on. On a Saturday. On a July 4th weekend. Obviously I basked in the non-existent lines (minus like 30 minutes for the water rides), but the last time I saw a major park this empty at this time of year was at Universal Studios FL right before the 2008 crash. Also caught Pantheon right as it re-opened too. That thing is one HELL of a ride, but it could've been my last ever because one of the operators almost dispached our train with the restraints up. Oppressive sun, almost lost a few of the guys from lack of hydration. Festhaus continues to be the default food spot (though one of these days I have to try Trapper's). Entered the park at 11a, left at 4:30p (went out to eat seafood immediately after and hit up some bars at VA Beach as part of a Bachelor weekend). Final tally: Griffon x2, Le Scoot, Alpengeist, Verbolten, Escape From Pompeii, Pantheon. - Biggest Surprise: Pantheon - Most Brutal & Unrelenting: Alpengeist - Perennial Favorite: Verbolten

  6. I was there yesterday too! I made the exact same analogy about the Tip Top, too LOL. In the back row of Tornado, that "pop of air" was the most intense ejector I've ever felt. It was absolutely insane.

  8. Plenty of things that aren't necessarily the best of the best become cult favorites. A lot of the love is probably due to longevity and the atmosphere of being in the park, memories of days gone by, etc. More than just taste.

  9. Excalibur - Funtown Splashtown, Saco ME Decent coaster. Smooth enough. Couple airtime moments. Good laterals. The ops are a killer though. Only one train and god are they slow getting it loaded and checked. Will try for some rerides but tough to do on a holiday weekend.

  10. I don't think a park known for its haunted house incident should use the tag #FIREAF

  11. Yeah, It's almost as if we never hear about a mass shooting at least twice a month or how we have an increase sense of no regard for anyone's safety as the days go by. Heck, we are lucky to even have people willing to work at theme parks lately due to the stress they receive. No matter how much you don't want to see it, it is dangerous and scary out there in the world.

  12. Maybe the ride op was "fragile" or maybe a person that simply does not respond well to pressure or maybe afraid she was going to get in trouble. My son had a supervisor give him a safety once over some people ignoring him when he directed them to stay seated until the go karts had all been parked and he was pretty sure they did not understand English, so hardly his fault but the supervisor didn't care. Impossible for anyone to pass judgement when they don't know the person/situation/job pressures, etc. On the other hand maybe people could stop being so defiant and just follow directions once in a while. All he had to do was wait on the ride and the whole thing would have been avoided

  14. I think the problem is you care too much about something so insignificant you're letting it affect your enjoyment of the ride. First world problems indeed.
