  1. Yeah I hate when amusement parks sully their own beauty by building roller coasters.

  2. We did a similar trip a few years back. (Pre-Covid) Our hotel for HW was about 45 min away from the park. (Seemed the only decent place at the time of booking) We did HW hit up dry side first thing then headed over to the waterpark. And it seems that everyone else had the same plan. So we were stuck with long lines for the coasters in the morning, then long lines for the slides in the afternoon, then again long lines for the coasters in the evening. We left the park and drove to our hotel right beside KK. The Crown Plaza next to Kentucky Kingdom offers an awesome 2 bedroom suite that is great for families that are traveling together. Has a living room in between both of the rooms. Highly recommend (We traveled with another family as well, and it was awesome) The waterpark at KK is definitely worth the visit. (If you can drag yourself away from Lighting Run) If you have two families going I'd highly suggest a cabana. It was great for our visit, and when you split the cost between two families it's not bad at all, and makes for a great "landing space" for everyone. I hope you have an awesome trip, and enjoy those water coasters at HW, they are amazing!

  4. Oh boy everyone has different opinions here. I think your plan for the day is at HW is sound (as far as stash stuff at wp lockers, do TB and Voyage then wp then back over to dry park, etc) Personally I would not stay anywhere near HW. The hotel across the street is not great and anything in Jasper or Ferdinand you will just be wasting time. I would get up early and just drive right to HW for rope drop and then drive on in to Louisville that night. It's only 45-60 min and even with the time change you will be there by 10, without having to get up super early the next morning. There are a ton of hotels around KK since it is on the grounds of the convention center and just a mile or two from the airport. The wp at KK is usually busier than the dry park, but mostly because locals use it heavily not because it's better, you won't have any trouble getting on stuff. Then by all means if you want to spend a couple days in Louisville do so and/or follow the bourbon trail into Frankfort or Lexington. The Woodford Reserve distillery in Lex is beautiful and they give you bourbon balls as well as two tastings at the end of the tour.

  5. Updated entrance, updated coasters restaurant, new entrance signage, new paint schemes on Corkscrew and Mad Mouse and much more. I am excited to see if Wildcat is better

  6. I heard that also from a friend who was there, they said that the part that was done improved the ride overall in their opinion. "The one section is much smoother and the ride seems to have more speed throughout" No clue how true that is, but I'm glad that it got at least one bit of positive review. I'm looking forward to checking out the titan track on predator in a few weeks here too

  7. SFSTL says they can have it painted and good to go in three short years.

  8. Well, that's okay. They still haven't opened a park that's an hour from your house with a drop tower and 5 coasters that are open 365 days a year.

  9. Too bad they went with yellow as a primary color on WW, with RR sporting the yellow supports right next door. Doesn't stand out as much as it could.

  11. It's neither cheap, easy, or practical to dig a 100 foot deep tunnel. Apparently Roller Coaster Tycoon is catching on again.
