Hhappy
Today was opening day for Krake at Heide Park in Germany. Some info before getting to the pictures: First dive coaster in Germany. Hardware and theming investment of 12 million euro Advertisement costs not included... Track length 476 meters, height 42,5 meters, drop 41 meters. 1 splash, 1 immelmann and 1 camelback. 3 trains, 3 rows of 6 each which gives 18 riders per train 50.000 hours and 700 tonnes of steel. Enough technical things.. time to talk about the ride.. It might look small (and yes it's not that long) but darn it. This is a fun ride. That first drop is awesome and it felt like you have a better view (on all rows on this first drop) then when compared to the bigger US version. Maybe it was just my impression but it felt as if the train was further down the drop compared to the bigger ones. Or maybe it was just due to the smaller train size that gave that impression. Anyway nice addition to the park which should provide plenty of thrills for the young folks and adrenaline junkies . I thinks that's it for this time.. Pictures (sorry for the amount.. just could not make a smaller selection) yeah, looks like i made it some reading material theming ok, time to go outside sorry folks, press get's to ride it first they are already lining up (still 1,5 hours to go before opening time) the sign (hi Larry) between 140 and 195 cm's to ride lot's of chit chat.. drinking.. and nobody is looking at the ride?? ehmm there was a lot of press.. All for these folks.. look left, look right, airtime smile at the pirate Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht and Hannes Mairinger getting ready for their ride and that's the lifthill ok, time to move on.. ribbon time let's ride quick walk to the observation platform.. to get some pictures of that first ride.. chill time here they come going down.. yup fun ride control room in the station empty train merchandise it's 12:30 and look at that line... yup, looks sweet and the "end" of the line time to get some more pictures of the theming same drops without people the ride that looks pretty good first drop structure exit and shop building looking at the drop teeth (and fog) hmmm shipwreck camelback close up first drop view change to the skyline ehm... back to the other side looks like people are still waiting.. outside of the station building tower and lifthill and back to that first drop area there is an onride photo point these look pretty impressive sorry, time for another walk... yeah... still no movement.. did the "Krake" win?? yikes minor damage, just need some nails and a hammer darn sun.. top of the drop (close up) yes happy riders at the top of the drop.. waiting those darn 3 seconds (or however long it feels) did i mention the onride photo? and yes.. the backrow might get a little wet (don't remember that from any of the other rides) camelback.. it just looks pretty pretty water (splash) and train that is a pretty big splash.. a different kind of photo op observation deck looking at the Immelman yeah time to use the zoom for some people reactions.. it does funny things to the face next train on the way back different angle top of the camelback yup, looks like fun tree (every update needs one) up is down or?? more fog pretty pretty final bit before the final brake run escaping the Krake splash fun.. or.. woops, bit more then expected??? soaked lots of people watching scream if you like it scoop action that's it folks, hope you enjoyed it Edited April 18, 2011 by ernierocker
tiger01
Thanks for the Pictures! But its a dissapointment that you don't go into the teeth. It's worse false advertising than th13rteen.
Hhappy
^ ain't advertisement about triggering the imagination? i'm pretty sure that if they would have been able to get the mouth in by this time.. they would have. Most likely something came up so they opened it like this.. Time will tell if more theming will be added in the future. What do you prefer?? looking at a ride waiting for more theming (and not operating) or being able to ride (and enjoy) it?? I prefer riding

ernierocker
Awesome work as always, Hanno!! It definitely looks short, but these dive coasters really do not need to be long to be thrilling.
tiger01
Awesome work as always, Hanno!! It definitely looks short, but these dive coasters really do not need to be long to be thrilling. Ace Of Spades
Actually quite glad it doesn't dive into the mouth. Being deadly afraid of Octopi as is, I'd never be able to look at the ride with all the tentacles and teeth surrounding the drop. Great photos as always Hanno! I prefer riding FYI, I just read another German TR about the opening today, they guy won the first ride by a facebook competition and had a chance to talk to the Park Administration. He told at the Coasterfriends.de-page, that the produced mouth didn´t fit the quality norm the park is looking for, so they let it rework. The actual solution is just an improvised theme. That means, it was planed and should come, but in another sentence it was mentioned, that the park is satisfied with the actual solution, too. So we´ll see what will happen, like Hanno said, but it wasn´t a missinformation just to get a better commercial effect. Thanks for the Photo TR Hanno. It was the better TR, I saw today
jjune4991
Great update Hanno!! Looks like a fun little ride. I wonder what it will be like when the Krake's mouth will actually be "eating" the ride.
Ledgy
Another Info besides the attraction: The Name of this boy is "Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht" and he´s a famous Teenage actor and singer, a little bit like "Bieber", in Germany. He has a role in the Teenage Movie Series "Wilde Kerle" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is it just me or is this Merchandise Bear really displaced!? They should better sell a huge octopus instead of that thing
Hhappy
^ they also have some other things. I was pretty sure i had a better picture of these (but failed) they have a Krake mouth and track combo which actually looks interesting. Gerstlauer1
From the very first day that this ride was announced, they said as a highlight it would go straight through the krakes mouth. But i think they are too lazy to actually do something about it...
