coasterdude5 Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Carrabba's got an overall 86 (service, quality, etc.) Which was pretty good considering the highest I saw was a 93. They got very high in service, quality, and neatness. They were also one of the best for takeout behind Outback. Way to go Carrabba's!
coasterguy618 Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 IMHO, i think Carrabba's is on the same level of food with McDonalds. I hate it.
CoasterCrazy Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 ^Maybe thats why Elissa likes it so much! Carrabba's is one of my favorite restaurants!
BelizeIt Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 ^^Watch out coasterguy! I think your one/two punch may have landed below the Alveys belt! If your going to go a couple of rounds with Robb + Elissa, then try to keep the gloves up! Lets say Robb + Elissa had a time crunch, and they had to chose between two states they really wanted to visit, then the one with a Carrabba's would probably represent the swing vote. I haven't been to one myself, but I've seen plenty of Photo Trip Reports about them!
BeemerBoy Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 IMHO, i think Carrabba's is on the same level of food with McDonalds. I hate it. I'm gonna back you up on this one, although I wouldn't go so far as to say Mickey D's, or express any hatred towards it. Any restaurant that has "Italian Ristorante", "Italian Grille", "Italian Food", "Italian Eatery", etc. etc. in the title is NOT real Italian food. If I had to pick one of the mass marketed chains....I'd give the nod to Outback. But that's just my humble opinion as well. To each his own though.
robbalvey Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 ^^ Hey now, everyone is welcome to their own opinions....but people who don't like Carrabbas just won't be welcome to come hang out with us! --Robb
CoasterFanatic Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I dig Carrabbas for it's unexplainable ability to punish my fiance with garlic breath for a duration of no less than 24 hours.
cfc Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Funny that folks should keep mentioning Outback along with Carrabbas in this thread--I think they're owned by the same company (along with Cheeseburger in Paradise and god knows how many other chains). Carrabbas's Steak Marsala rules, by the way. And the Pasta Weensie is mighty good, too.
BeemerBoy Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 ^I believe you are correct. If I remember right, OSI acquired Carrabba's, but I could be mistaken.
bobafett Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Yes,they are owned by the same parent company that is why if you see one of them you will see the other one not far from it. My husband and I love their food. Always clean and the wait staff are very attentive. We go there if we are not in our own neighborhood and can't get to a Real Italian restaurant because when you live in South Philly all you have to do is go up to 9th Street and you will find an abundance of Italian restaurants. Like I said we love,it is definitely better than the Olive Garden. I hate that restaurant. And to compare it to McDonald's,well just look at how old coasterguy is and that explains it all.He still has alot to learn in his young life. Maybe too many happy meals and chicken mcnuggets in his lifetime. I've only had one bad experience at Carrabba's and that was at the location in Peabody,MA,while we were visting Salem,MA.*Pollo Rosa Maria* is my signature dish!!! Yummy!!!
BeemerBoy Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 How about a poll on this one? Let's see....Carrabba's, Chili's Bar and Grill, Joe's Crab Shack, Outback Steakhouse, Macaroni Grill, etc. in a steel cage death match? Just a thought.
restoca Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I think the family that started Carrabba's has some kind of arrangement with the Outback parent company for expansion purposes. As I understand it, the two original Carrabba's locations in Houston are still wholly owned and operated by the family. Slightly different menu, look, etc. I actually prefer the other ones. There are some new ones opening that are sort of Carabba's Express, although that's not indicated on the signage. They have an abbreviated menu, so don't count on your favorite item being available...
methylene Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Which ones are the two original ones in Houston? I might have to try one to compare. The only one I've been to is the one in the Champions area on 1960 and it wasn't anything special. Brio's in The Woodlands and Zio's on I-45 were better, in my opinion.
restoca Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Well, there's the first-ever one on Kirby, between Richmond and Alabama. then the second one opened on Voss, I think, near Woodway. Zio's is really a great value. Nice selection and very reasonable prices!

ImAPrincess Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I dig Carrabbas for it's unexplainable ability to punish my fiance with garlic breath for a duration of no less than 24 hours. Hey now...I believe it was YOU who still smelled like garlic on our way home 3 days later! **It was worth it, though!
YoshiFan Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 A new Carrabba's opened a few months ago in my area which I think is the first one within around a half hour of my house and hearing how great it was, I wanted to try it (never been to any Carrabba's before that). Overall, I was kind of dissapointed. I found the food to be very overpriced compared to similar restaurants and didn't think the food was that great overall. Plus, the waiting area was very small and because there were so many people waiting (whenever I drive by it is always crowded), that it was hard just to wait for a table (servers had to get through so you always had to keep moving because the small waiting area was entirely full that people were waiting in the walkways). Maybe I'll give the place another try one day but for now I'll stick with Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill.
ParkTrips Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I'm gonna back you up on this one, although I wouldn't go so far as to say Mickey D's, or express any hatred towards it. Well, neither is any Mexican food you come across.. or Australian As Chuck said, it funny you brought up Outback saing they are cool yet Carrabba's isnt I dig Carrabba's mainly because theyve got the quality, some class, and are affordable. Plus, theyve got Lentil Soup Did I see Joe's Crabshack mentioned? I like some sea food, but... ewwww.
Wes Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 There's a place near where I work called Villa Sorento. Authentic as hell. There's always a group of old Mafia looking dudes in there playing cards. It's almost comically cliche, but the food is awesome.
BeemerBoy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 ^^Wait! You mean Taco Bell's not real Mexican, and Outback's not real Aussie? Damn. Now why didn't someone tell me these things years ago. Hey, I just dig Outback's menu a little more, that's all. And Joe's Crab Shack....eh, I was just throwing out a major chain name, that's all. Chart House or Legal Seafoods is the place to be for good chain restaurant seafood. ^ And yeah, Wes. That's the stuff I'm talkin' about. Some of the best Italian places I've ever eaten at always gave me that feeling that I should just walk in, sit down, order, eat, and never make eye contact with anyone. If I have the time, I'll always hunt down the out-of-way local joints for the best food. I'll keep Villa Sorento in mind the next time I'm out that way. Thanks.
