Shockwave
Whilst sat in work and doing nothing, I had to kill some time before it got busy. As I'm gonna be visiting the US a lot to see the sights and ride the rides, I divided the country up into bitesize chunks that won't all require huge holidays to do. I've already done Florida, and with a trip to the main SoCal parks and Las Vegas planned for this year I'm leaving them out for the purpose of this exercise. This guide also assumes that the parks listed will remain operational at their own discretion, and not get closed down either temporarily (e.g. Six Flags New Orleans) or permanently. New parks may also open as well, and will have to be accounted for at a later date. Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky Ohio & West Penn Michigan's Adventure Fun Spot (Summer only) Indiana Beach Holiday World Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Beech Bend Paramount Kings Island Stricker's Grove (open for two days each year, or available for hire) Wyandot Lake Idlewild Park Kennywood Waldameer Conneaut Lake Park Geauga Lake Cedar Point The Deep South - "Jophish Country and the GAP 'Hood" Six Flags Over Georgia Paramount's Carowinds Dollywood & Pigeon Forge Area Lake Winnie Visionland (Alabama Adventure) Myrtle Beach Area (what's left of it) Chicago, Wisconsin & Minnesota Six Flags Great America Santa's Village Kiddieland Safariland Mt. Olympus Theme Park Timber Falls Riverview Park Little A-Merrick-A The Mall of America Valleyfair The Midwest Six Flags St Louis Worlds of Fun Joyland Wild West World (open 2007) Frontier City (if it is still there) Bell's Amusement Park Magic Springs & Crystal Falls Silver Dollar City Celebration City Texas Six Flags Over Texas Six Flags Fiesta Texas Sea World San Antonio NorCal - "Don, Mon and Wally World!" Paramount's Great America Six Flags Marine World Bonfante Gardens Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Pacific Northwest Wild Waves/Enchanted Village (WA) Enchanted Village (OR) Oaks Park Silverwood Theme Park Playland (Vancouver) Puyallup Fair (Two annual openings in April/September) Now this is where it gets difficult, as we are getting into the Northeast, where there are a lot of parks. Virginia & "Dave Country" Busch Gardens Williamsburg Paramount Kings Dominion Camden Park Six Flags America Ocean City Area (MD) East Penn, New Jersey and New York City - "Derek Country" Lakemont Park DelGrosso's Amusement Park Dutch Wonderland Dorney Park Hersheypark Knoebel's Amusement Park Clementon Amusement Park Morey's Piers Atlantic City & Ocean City Area (NJ) Six Flags Great Adventure Coney Island Area Rye Playland Buffalo & Niagra Falls Area - "Nicole Country" Six Flags Darien Lake Seabreeze Martin's Fantasy Island Marineland Paramount Canada's Wonderland New England & Montreal Six Flags New England Lake Compounce Quassy Amusement Park Canobie Lake Park Funtown Splashtown USA The Great Escape La Ronde And now the parks that really are in the middle of nowhere! Six Flags Elitch Gardens (Denver, CO) Lakeside Amusement Park (Denver, CO) Lagoon (Salt Lake City, UT) Cliff's Amusement Park (Alberquerque, NM) Castles N Coasters (Phoenix, AZ) Wonderland (Amarillo, TX) Galaxyland Amusement Park (Edmonton, Alberta) Those last seven parks could be very difficult to plan trips around as they aren't particularly close (or even remotely close) to the main zones, and may require very long drives or internal flights. As you can see, touring North America will probably take me till I'm about 40.
Blue0ctane
Wow, very interesting, although I'm sure that just the expenses in park tickets alone could really shoot your budget up.

Yeah, it's not gonna be cheap doing all this, but I love to travel. The exchange rate will take care of any big budget issues! So everyone vote Republican for the next 8 years!!! Jeezus Juice
The exchange rate will take care of any big budget issues! So everyone vote Republican for the next 8 years!!! DIE!!! A few years ago I was looking at the same thing, how to visit all of these parks in less than 40 years. I found out that it was alot cheaper to just take 2 months off, pack up the car, and just connect the dots around the country for awhile. So, I'd either put those lists in some kind of order by preference, find somebody in the states with a car, or call Justin and see if there are seats left: May 27th - June 14th 2006 The long awaited trip to what is usually called “Coaster Central” in the US. It’s a trip that we’ve wanted to do ever since the Club was formed but there have been too many other “must see” coasters, throughout Europe, which have kept interrupting us! We’re going to be visiting around 20 parks, riding over 100 coasters and visiting nine different states! from www.coasterclub.org Great lists btw! Some of the best stuff is done "bored at work" style! -Don
CoasterFanatic
What! No WV trip? I mean, cmon, we have 2 coasters!
dougr
Pacific NorthwestWild Waves/Enchanted Village (WA) Enchanted Village (OR) Silverwood Theme Park Playland (Vancouver) Puyallup Fair (Two annual openings in April/September) Good list, couple of things-Fun Forest under the space needle in Seattle has a kiddie coaster and a Windstorm. Don't miss Oaks Park in Portland! It has a Pinfari 42 with a 30 foot loop and "Screamin" Eagle" -a KMG Afterburner/Fireball. Plus if you get to Playland the two weeks before Labo(u)r Day, the PNE has some more cool flats! DATman
I'm going to Seabreeze this summer, which will own because it'll bring back so many memories (Jack Rabbit was my first "big" woodie). I missed out on the Quantam Loop credit, though, because I was too scared. I may be going to Darien Lake as well.
DerekRx
Sweet, I have my own country (though I think its more of a dominion). If you plan right, you can accomplish a lot in a little amount of time. Just look how Robb and Elissa did 7 parks in 1 day last year on the Chicago area trip. If you're dedicated and do lots of planning, anything is possible. niiicolaaah
Yeah, hey, why isn't the Buffalo and Niagara Falls section called "Nicole Country"??? Huh, Tom? I rode Tomb Raider for you!!
JnETrains
A few years ago I did quite a few of the parks that you list. I was on the road for five weeks, put over 12,000 miles on the car, spent over $4,000, went to 38 states and 2 Canadian provinces, 42 parks and rode 226 different coasters. Its really a great way to see the US.

OK, you did ride the rat cages, so I guess you get your own country now! Now everyone ia be asking to have their little piece of North America, so I'm gonna rename it all! Any reason why you forgot Southern California? Already going there this year. Photo TR coming in 6 months! I've already done Florida, and with a trip to the main SoCal parks and Las Vegas planned for this year I'm leaving them out for the purpose of this exercise.
