robbalvey Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Hey everyone! If you have replied or created a new topic today you might notice something slightly different above the text box. I have installed a new "BBCode" helper which makes it a little easier to post links, format your text, etc. Please let me know how it works or if you are having any errors with it at all. Thanks! --Robb Here is what the new Posting Box looks like.....
CD Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 It looks great Rob! I definitely prefer this version over the previous version. Thanks
Blue0ctane Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I don't care for it very much; it doesn't blend in very nicely and I have most BBcode memorized as well as HTML anyway.
Blue0ctane Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Good point, but I believe that the old posting box offered the same functionality as this one.
robbalvey Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 ^ Well, most people do not have BBcode memorized. I know I certainly don't! The one thing this one offers is an easier way to post links. But if you had BBCode memorized, then it wouldn't really apply to you anyway. --Robb
Luxo Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 looks really cool Robb [align=center]I love the line breaks![/align] And the fact that it puts the code where the cursor is, instead of just at the end of the sentence.
CP_RULES Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 EDIT- This whole post was about the new box and now its gone so all you have to read is this. (I would have left my post the way it was but the removal of the box made my post go wacko... )
Florida420 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Change Scares me!! But it Sure looks purdy. I love it!! Also my Taiko's are not working, the original smilies are though. P All
robbalvey Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Ok, I'm going back to the old version. The new one was creating some random problems that I don't have time to sort out just now. --RObb
DATman Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Aww, It was cool! I hope you can find a cool one that works better!
Louise Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 EDIT:: Okay, never mind, I'm getting all kinds of weird error messages now, no worries.
Louise Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 It's gone from this thread now, but it appeared in another one before and then went away again. Did you see it before I edited? I'm now getting this one on a couple of other threads: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: bbencode_second_pass() in /home2/themepar/public_html/forum/includes/functions_calendar.php on line 431 I'm also getting a lot of "Cannot open page, no data available to load from that location" errors (sorry, didn't copy and paste that one so I'm paraphrasing) when I try and post. Seems to be fairly random, it'll be there, then I'll go look at a different thread and come back, and it's gone, and the thread works fine. *shrug* Not a big deal, just wondered if it was related to the problems you mentioned in this thread.
robbalvey Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Hmm... This is really odd. I've replaced all the files I changed with the original ones. Has anyone else seen these errors? Or is it just attacking Lou's High Class British Macintosh on purpose? --Robb
thunder001 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted a new thread and a couple of replys and it was all on the old setup.....no troubles on this end. Must be that British weather again???

Carnage Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 You're not crazy Lou, I was experiencing the same thing last night. But I haven't seen it since. It could have been due to the browser caching the new editor and spazzing out when it vanished.

PhishyBrewer Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Aww... I wish I could of tried it. I wonder if a spell checker can be built into something like that?
robbalvey Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 ^ I have tested a spell checker for the forums but it ran REALLY slow and crashed my browser a few times. Personally I think the spell checker that comes with the google toolbar is about the best you'll get for forums right now. It's awesome! --Robb
Jon Sabo Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I have a question, but not sure if it relates to the upgrade or not. The other day (and today as well) I was responding to a post in the forum. On BOTH occasions it linked me to a menu in asking me to "post a message in the Subject box" (something along those lines). THe other day I wasn't paying much attention to it and for some reason I posted a heading as it stated and ended up opening a new forum..lol I use IE (with google toolbar along with all current MS updates and security patches). Does this affect what is happening or is there an issue with IE (google-toolbar) associated with this?..
Louise Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 One thing I've noticed that's only been happening since the new posting box experiment... When I click the little orangey page symbol that takes you to the newest post in a thread, instead of taking me to the specific post, it takes me to the top of the page that the newest post is on, if that makes sense. It actually doesn't bother me seeing as I always read a few posts up to refresh my memory anyway, but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

Dang't. Wait... Tiger spell checks everything for me already. Sorry... nevermind.
