calcajun
My brother was in town last week and wanted to see the New Orleans Zoo since he had not seen it since he was a child. When we were kids basically it was a bunch of concrete slabs with the black metal cages on top. I have always told people that we have a very nice zoo. While at the park I took a bunch of photos. Here are a few so that if you come over for a visit you might like to stop in the zoo and see it for yourself. There is evidence here and there that it has just been through a hurricane but Most out of towners might not notice it .

rjholla2003
Now I see why my family liked the zoo. They skipped off to the zoo when decided to go to SFNO. I'm still happy with my decision last summer.
calcajun
Yes, there are lions, cougars and other smaller cats. There is a large reptile display with at least 50 diff snakes, sea lions, aviary and more. These are just a few photos. I took about 150 pics. Nrthwnd
Oooohhhhhhhh. Looks nice there, calcajun. I also enjoyed the New Orleans Museum, situated in a huge park... The last time we were there (1994 - wow - time flying, huh?...) there was an exhibit of several of the Faberge Eggs from various collections and Russia, itself. Amazing display... Is the Zoo near that park and museum? That's also near where we stayed, second part of the visit, after spending Mardi Gras staying in the Quarter itself. Right behind Lafittes-In-Exile. calcajun
The Zoo is in the area called Uptown/Garden District. Bout 15 to 20 minutes down magazine street from where you stayed.
OzCatter
I'm really sad I didnt get to go there over last summer, but I mean I would have given up Houston for it, and I would have never got AW, and SFNO is reopening. Plus NO is always open for moving, they need hospital admins in Orleans
