Any idea when the Knott's event will take place in 2006 and if Tatsu will be open by this time? I know this is many months off, but I would love to plan a trip out to L.A. sometime this spring and hit those parks as well as Disneyland for their 50th.

Thanks!

7th Annual Winter Coaster Solace

March 11, 2006

Calling all Coaster Enthusiasts! Plan for a coaster filled day including E.R.T. on our most popular rides, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Lunch, Thrill Seeker's Raffle, plus a commemorative T-shirt.

I'd say there's slim to no chance Tatsu will be open by then.

I wouldn't even say slim.

Even if it's complete, it'll be testing at best. But it could open in late March/early April, though.

what is this solstice thing anyway?

ive heard alot about it... do you have to be a member of somthing/buy special ticket/etc ??

i'd love to go if i can.

It's a coaster event that Knott's puts on every year and is apparently pretty good. You do have to be a member of a coaster club and you have to register for the event.

Just a note...it's called Solace, not "Solstice."

You don't have to be a member of a coaster club. Usually, some of the websites like Screamscape, Westcoaster, and others offer a pass that you can print and bring with you. Knott's will accept those passes. You can even show up the morning of and buy tickets right at the window.

Basically if you're willing to be at Knott's at 6am, they don't need to card you, because what normal person would go to Knott's at 6am?

I believe they are in fact having the RideWorld event again. Contact Chris Godsey about that. He'll know.

It's looking like there will be a Rideworld event regardless of it Tatsu is open at that time.

If Tatsu is not open yet then it will be a smaller event with some ERT in the morning. Then when Tatsu opens another larger full day event will be hosted.

If Tatsu is open for Solace then the large event will take place then.

That's the tentative plans.

^ The park was packed actually last year. lots of school groups.

ERT was great, but once the park opened the lines got pretty bad.

Though the year before was the oposite, the park was fairly empty.

So it's pretty much a crap shoot as far as I can tell.

^ IMO it was worth the 2 hrs of ERT on Riddler, X, and Goliath. During that time everything was a walk on. The park was packed after about 11am though.

But, like Paul said, Rideworld is planning an all day exclusive event when Tatsu opens so if it is not ready by Solace then maybe plan on going to the all day event at the mountain instead.

On the other hand if you have never been to Solace it is a great event with many hrs of ERT. Last year was my 1st time and I had a blast.

What were the crowds like during SFMM Bash last year? Was it possible to get everything done? I'm strongly thinking about coming out for the events this year.

If your really worried about getting everything done, go a few days before/after the 11th. Because remember, the 11th is a Saturday, which is school trip day. Which I think is also spring break for California schools.

If I were to be going I wouldn't expect to get to much done.

But after Knotts, Midevil Times is right across the street!

Yeah, I was thinking that but SFMM isn't on daily operation yet. I think I'm going to bypass Solace and go a couple weeks later in the month when SFMM is on daily operation. Thanks for the help everybody.
