RCoasterny Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Looks like there's a Christian themed DDR game out for Windows or Mac OS. While I have nothing against the church, I do think their followers are kind of brainwashed... :? [edit - a link would be helpful... ] Here's the link to the article
zongaboy626 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 i played that at a concert they had good bands on it like reliant k switchfoot tobeymac newsboys and many more its fun!
4718 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 The regular songs are junk anyway, why not have some that mean a bit more? Besides, half the groups that zongaboy just listed are well accepted by both sides of the music audience, both Christians and not.
FlyingScooter Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Ordinary World is junk? (just kidding.) I liked the Duran Duran version better. I think it's a good idea. Music is music. You either like it or hate it. If the game doesn't work, it'll just be like zillion other bad games.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 i played that at a concert they had good bands on it like reliant k switchfoot tobeymac newsboys and many more its fun! "Good" is a very subjective word, there. Are they going to release cruciform floor pads as well?
FlyingScooter Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 ^Cruciform pad?!?!?!?! LMAO! i could see it, though. up-foot, back-foot left-left-left and genuflect genuflect genuflect
Real Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Looks like there's a Christian themed DDR game out for Windows or Mac OS. While I have nothing against the church, I do think their followers are kind of brainwashed... :? [edit - a link would be helpful... ] Here's the link to the article Your definition of brainwash must be different from mine. Its a way of life, just like whatever way of life you do, techincally brainwashes you unless you change how you live on a daily basis. Which in most cases is to be like society and Id rather be different from society at all costs. But this isnt the place for that kind of talk - just watch the phrases you use. Personally I think the ideas great. I know of a couple really good songs that can pass for DDR and Ive taken a little time and tried to make my own steps to them on StepMania. The bands that were listed above are accepted on both sides but are in no way selling out nor are they closet christians. The lyrics are obvious and they make it clear what they choose in life. So it proves that the music crosses genres. The only exception I can find is Switchfoot. Relient, Toby and Newsboys are genuine and proof is found in the music. Relient is my favourite right not. Mmhmm.
Teddymonster Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 ^^Hehe..Wes. Why does that sound like something from "This Week In God?" Well, I think it shouldn't matter what the bands say in their songs for the sheer fact that it's DDR. You're not dancing for religious inspiration. You're dancing to have fun. Just another clever way to appeal to a large audience to make a profit.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I wonder if they'll have different DDR: Christ Mixes for all the varying denominations. Like, that church in south GA that dances around with snakes. How do you make an extra arrow for snake movement?
Teddymonster Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 It would be a squiggly arrow pointing up. Duh!
Wes Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 ^ But dancing is the devil's work. Unless it's the Shakers. Captain Jack = teh devil!!1! Shake Shake Revolution.
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 ^That picture is totally in one of my text books.
YoshiFan Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Kind of old but it fits this topic well: http://www.dancedanceresurrection.i12.com/
crispy Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I don't see anthing wrong with a DDR game with Christian music, actually with how much they sell, it really doesn't suprise me And to those who seem to have a problem with Christians buying a game with Christian music, uh, don't buy it
SixFlagsTexas Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 While I have nothing against the church, I do think their followers are kind of brainwashed... :? What do you mean by brainwashed?! Personally, I was upset to read that. Christians listen to christian music, and any other music they enjoy, we are not being "brainwashed". The bands mentioned are actually good bands. Or maybe I'm not following what you are saying. SixFlags "Not flaming" Texas
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 ^I'm not him, but the way I took it didn't relate to the game at all. the way I took it was,"It's sad that the majority of Christians allow their religion to block off any opposing possibilities."
FlyingScooter Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 i consider myself a Christian and I listen to Ozzy, marilyn Manson and the late Karen Carpenter, ( and yes, I know they have pills to help those that listen to karen Carpenter.) If companies want to promote Christian Games, Jewish Games, Hindu, Mormon, Satanic games and the worst, by far, Thomas the Tank Engine games, it's their loss if they don't sell. Thomas the Tank Engine brainwashed my youngest daughter about 10 yrs ago when she was 5. The game was on the Genesis (another religious word...) system. She'd sit and play it for hours on end. It got to the point that if i asked her a question, she'd answer me with one train whistle blow for yes, two for no. When she was tired, she'd say things like, 'I'm running out of steam!" Man, that kid could drink water, like a , well, a tank engine, gulping gallon after gallon. Problem was, she did not have a smoke stack and her blasts were devasting! Though her farts sounded more like foghorns than train whistles, the smell was mind-scrambling. Talk about brainwashing!
crispy Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 ^I'm not him, but the way I took it didn't relate to the game at all. the way I took it was,"It's sad that the majority of Christians allow their religion to block off any opposing possibilities." Actually, MOST christians, like myself, listen to both Christain, and "normal", or secular music, Some listen exclusivly to Christian music, but there is some pretty good bands, alot of lame ones too I seriously think most people let the extremist form thier view of christianity, which I would hope that most people would KNOW that they are very much so in the minority
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 ^I wasn't talking about music, actually.
crispy Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 I'm not either, in the second part of my post You wrote BiCoastal Kid wrote: "It's sad that the majority of Christians allow their religion to block off any opposing possibilities." And my reply was I seriously think most people let the extremist form thier view of christianity, which I would hope that most people would KNOW that they are very much so in the minority There is a large diffreence in how many Christians believe, don't just listen to the loud mouths
robbalvey Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Guys, this is bording on a religious flame war. If you're going to discuss the game, that's fine. If your going to argue about religion, and who has the bigger crucifix, there are other sites out there for that. --Robb
crispy Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Robb, I think you misunderstood my post, I am CERTAINLY not trying to start any religious flame war, cause if that starts, I'll leave and go drink a beer and watch some porn
