Lameformer Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 What's the coaster that most met your expectations? Like it was exactly as good or as bad as you thought it was going to be? Personally, I would say Scream! at Magic Mountain. As I expected, it wasn't a fantastic ride nor was it a mediocre ride. It was basically everything that I had imagined it to be.
thrillseeker4552 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 GateKeeper. I didn't get off and think "holy crap that was AWESOME" nor did I think it was a bad ride. It was just smooth, floaty fun as expected.
Henry M Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Helix at Liseberg, I thought it was going to be awesome and incredible ant the best coaster ever, and it was!!
CoasterDirected Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Judge Roy Scream, good family wooden coaster, but not much too it and not too much airtime. Good ride, but not enough for a second ride.
cookiex Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I would say most of my top ten met my expectations when I first rode them. Lone exception would be the Cylon side of Battlestar Galactica actually, which way exceeded my expectations.
coasterbill Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Every standup coaster... I expect them all to be pure, unrivaled s**t and they always deliver on those expectations.
cfc Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 When it comes to coasters I expected to be flat-out bad, I'd say it was El Condor at Walibi Holland. It was the first Vekoma SLC. As for a coaster that I fully expected to be good, I'd say it's another Vekoma creation, this time in collaboration with Disney: Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Genx24 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 For me, Boulder Dash. My friend when describing it kept heaping praise upon the ride, which I was sure was partially hyperbole. Alas, he was right. Ride is incredible and it firmly planted itself within my top 3, which I never thought would happen.
Nrthwnd Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 In the last few years of overseas traveling, I would say that my lowest expectation was for the Raging Spirits coaster in Tokyo Disney Sea. Having ridden the first such coaster in Disney Paris, and suffered through many painful rides both forward AND backward, even with a renovation on Spirits' tracks recently, did not boost my expectations. Total shock and surprise! Smooth as glass! Comfortable as could be! We loved it! My highest expectation I guess, would be for HELIX in Liseberg, the year it opened. After an initial problem at the station was solved, we got to ride it several times, especially in the evening. And I enjoyed all the rides I took. I enjoyed the LIMs on the inclined tracks as these were the first for me to experience this. Did not disappoint. Even my partner, David, loved TDS-RS! And he Absolutely HATED the Paris version of it. TPR 2013 Japan Tour. Great coaster IMhO. TPR 2014 Scandi Tour.
