Las Vegas Trip Planning

Recommended Posts

Hey there, so I'll be visiting my partner in Sin City next week!!!

I'll be arriving in Vegas at 11:00pm on 03/04

I'll be leaving Vegas at 11:59pm on 03/06

It's my first trip out there and would greatly appreciate any suggestions, tips, and tricks you have. We have somewhere to stay already, now here's where you guys come in:

Any good local eats? Any restaurants I must eat at?

- I'm big on Mexican, Asian, and BBQ.

DRINKS!!! Where at, best happy hour or prices?

Where to buy for attractions/shows,ect.?

Any discounts, promos?

Any insight is better than none at all. I have a general idea of what I want to do, but would like to see what everyone else comes up with.

Thank you in advance

You're only going to be in Vegas for one day?!

Any good local eats?

It's Vegas, there are tons of good places to eat at. I think it all depends on what you like. Personally I always make a point to eat at Pinks Hot Dogs. They are really good!

Any restaurants I must eat at?

As said above.... Pinks Hot Dogs.

--------------------

As for things to do:

- If you are interested, and want to spend the money, I always highly suggest Skyjump Las Vegas! It's an amazing experience! Also, the rides at the top of the Stratosphere are unique, and a "must do" for any thrill lover.

- There is the new High Roller observation wheel if you want to try that out.

- Don't waste your money on Manhattan Express, or Roller Coaster, or whatever it is called now days.

- Make a point to stop and watch the Bellagio Fountain show. It is amazing! Also, speaking of the Bellagio, Cirque Du Soleil O at the Bellagio is an AMAZING show. Worth the money.

- If you are a Celine Dion fan, you could always get tickets to see her show at Caesars palace. I've never personally seen the show, but I have heard that it is amazing!

- Don't forget to go down and watch the Freemont Street Experience. It is awesome, and the Golden Nugget is a fun place to spend a little while gambling. You could also try out "SLOTZILLA" and Zip-line between the canopy and the streets of the Freemont Street Experience.

- There is also the Voodoo Zipline at the Rio if you wanted to try that out. It looks a little more "thrilling" than Slotzilla.

This is about all the advice I have for now! Enjoy your trip!!

If you are looking to buy show tickets, both of these sites have a variety of discounted shows available:

http://www.travelzoo.com/entertainment/las-vegas/

http://vegas.broadwaybox.com/

There are also half-price ticket booths around town, but the tickets are only available the day of the show. Link: http://www.tix4tonight.com

I can give you some food options, but I would need to know more of what you are looking for.

My bad I fixed it, I'll be in Vegas for two days actually.

As for food, I'm big on Mexican, Asian, & BBQ.

Bellagio Fountains are a guarantee for me, Stratosphere rides as well, not too sure about the skyjump this time around though.

As for the Ziplines, I was looking into them but can't decide which I'd rather do because they both have something going for them.

Is the Manhattan Express/Roller Coaster/Big Apple Coaster that bad?

Also what about Desperado? and Adventuredome?

adventure dome is worth it for the 2 coasters. But just buy single ride tix.. not worth it to get the band (unless you're dying to ride some flats)

and while in CircusCircus stop in for one of the best steaks in town at the Steakhouse there. (it's NOT cheap by any stretch of the imagination. . but well, well worth the money, and you won't believe you're still in CircusCircus - the restaurant is THAT nice (all brass and leather interiors)

http://www.circuscircus.com/dining/the_steakhouse.aspx

we make it a point to eat there every time we're in town.

I didn't find Manhattan Express too painful, though no sane person would consider it anything but rough. If you ride everything and/or want credits then do it, it won't kill you. Desperado on the other hand I found extremely uncomfortable..probably the most painful coaster I've ever ridden, and I have an unusually high tolerance for rough rides. I had planned on 3 rides when I went by there and had already bought tickets, but after the second ride I tapped out and just ate the remaining tickets (figuratively.) At least Manhattan Express has a couple fun elements like the dive loop. Desperado really has no redeeming features, plus it's way out of the way. I wouldn't recommend it unless you just have to have the credit.

Adventuredome is a must visit though. El Loco is the complete polar opposite of Desperado. Fun as hell and smooth as butter. I could ride it all day long! Canyon Blaster is really short and a bit rough, but as long as you're there it's a credit.

Thanks for the advice, I'm not so big on Coaster Counts, that doesn't really mean anything to me. I just thought since I'll be in Vegas why not go for them?

I'm for sure doing Adventuredome, as for Manhattan Express and Desperado it's one or the other for me, no need for both this trip. Thank you for your input!!!

in that case, it's an easy call:

1 is on the strip, and is always open.

the other is 40 minutes away in Primm, and is NOT always open.

so yeah.. stick with Roller Coaster/Manhattan Express at NYNY.

Also, if you want a variety, I highly suggest the bacchanal buffet at Caesars Palace. You can get there at lunch time like 230 and pay that price Here is what I had and I only paid 40.00.

DRINKS!!! Where at, best happy hour or prices?

People actually pay for drinks in vegas? I paid for one drink and that was at the Cirque KA. I got all my drinks from playing the .25 cents computer black jack right at the bar at ever casino. Just put 5.00 dollars in the bartender will immediately ask what you are drinking, just tip at least a dollar, BAM, your drinks are free . . . kinda.

Where to buy for attractions/shows,ect.?

Any discounts, promos?

Whatever you do, check these guys out here Best kept secret!! I got Mariah Carey tickets, 20 rows from the stage for JUST 99 dollars, when regular price was 197.00. I also got Cirque Soile KA tickets for 90.00 and I was about the same distance from the stage (of course different venue) for 90.00 vs the 167.00. They also have discount food places and other entertainment.

Any insight is better than none at all. I have a general idea of what I want to do, but would like to see what everyone else comes up with.

Thank you in advance

Dont miss Manhattan express. It isn't as bad as people say, well it wasn't as bad a few weeks ago. I'd rather ride it than Ninja at SFoG and its worth the price. Vegas is expensive period so don't skip it due to price. I spent a lot of time walking around lots of hotels/resorts. They are mini cities themselves!

Those buffet selections at Caesar's Palace look pretty great, too. And for $40? Nice.

Do you/anybody remember what the price for the Dinner Buffet, was? Just curious.

It is?52. Well worth it when you look at typical prices of dinners in vegas.

There is another, the wicked spoon, inside the cosmopolitan (which is a goooooooooorgeous hotel and have a stunning casino floor) that is about 40 for dinner, but the selection isn't as great as the bachannsl but still lots of culinary delights that you won't find at a buffet anywhere else.

yep that one is our favorite and usually stop by once or twice. (and if you go for Sunday brunch, it includes mimosas!)

the only other ones we frequent: the Buffet at Mirage (comparable to the Ceasar's one, but we just like the atmosphere better), and the Golden Nugget on Fremont (on the weekends, for the Seafood heavy options)
