BHILK Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Just wanted to say hello. I am a new member from Chicago. Just wanted to say I was a little suprised to see SFGam is not getting a new coaster. I thought after the year that the park had in attendence we would be getting a new coaster. On another note I still love SFGam and think it is one of the most underrated parks out there. Raging Bull gets better with age and the crew is the best I have seen(even better than raptor). SFGam is a great home park to have.
Cameron Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 The water park saw a huge increase in attendance, they'll milk that for a few more years before adding another coaster. And, as much as I'd like a coaster too, we really don't need one .. especially not as much as we needed the water-park. Good to see another Chicago resident here! Cameron.
SharkTums Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Yeah, aren't you guys getting a Tornado for your waterpark? You have one of the better SF parks out there, it could always be worse...you'll get another good coaster at some point!
CoasterFanatic Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I am sure you guys will get 3 more coasters before SFKK, SFStLois and SFDL get one. // all in good fun
DRWP2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Yea the park hasn't officially announced that their getting a ProSlide Tornado yet, but I'm about positive that they will have one next year.
robbalvey Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 ^^ LOL! True, true...there are worse situations to be in.... --Robb "When was the last time SFA, SFSL, or even SFOT got a new coaster?" Alvey
UberBeavis Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 There are far worse things to happen to a park...
Bob O Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 While i would love to get a new coaster in the park, what i think the park needs is a interactive dark ride that can be enjoyed by the whole family rather than another coaster with a 54" height limit which it seems is all they add lately. And he park isnt blessed by a lot of empty space so i wonder if they would tear a coaster out to add a new one??
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 yeah its upsetting that we arent getting a new coaster for 2006 but hey at least theres the tornado and the hope for 2007 and also we could be run like SFKK is so we dont really have much to complain about
MSLSM Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 It is sad that we are not getting a coaster for 2006, but SFMM has not had a new one since 2003. SFGAM's newest coaster was built in 2004. If they do get a new coaster, I wonder where they will put it if they don't remove whizzer. I have heard of it being placed in southwest territory, but the tea cups might be removed. The building it is in would make the perfect station.
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 ^that would be a pretty low station don't you think? also how would a coaster fit there, there is too much stuff that its really close to including Raging Bull, Giant Drop and Trailblazer...just an observation
DATman Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I personally loved that water park-the slides were great, especially the revised mat slide. also, the play structure is one of the best out there, so, if they get a tornado, which won't surprise me (thet park has a lot of proslide, correct me if i'm wrong), it will just be even better, especially if it has a layout longer than turn, drop, funnel, THE END! Not that that wasn't fun, i still love them.
DRWP2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Ever waterslide there is a ProSlide, even the ones on the Play Structure by Koala Playgroup. I have always wished that more of the ProSlide Octopus Racers (what you called the "Revised Mat Slide") were built they are so fun and so neat looking. Sorry I'm in the industry so I always use the terms...HAHA I know ProSlide has a concept they are pitching right now that has 2 Tornados built into the same slide...Although I dont know if Six Flags is looking into it, but I'm positive that they have the concept out there.
MSLSM Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 ^that would be a pretty low station don't you think? also how would a coaster fit there, there is too much stuff that its really close to including Raging Bull, Giant Drop and Trailblazer...just an observation ^Just remove/relocate some rides. No one would notice except those who go to the park a lot. I know there is a lot of stuff over there, but I think they could make something fit.
coasterdude5 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Actually, I believe Iron Wolf is the next to go but I'm probably wrong. It's gotten even worse over the past few months. And it never gets alot of attention either but who knows!
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 ^actually I've seen it get some pretty sick lines recently...I think that SFGAm could make something fit if they really planned hard
coasterdude5 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Yes, but you rarely see people with smiling faces wanting to get back on. But that might just be me.
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 ^hey if the line is short enough then why not ride again?
Cameron Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 There's plenty of room at the park without removing anything. There's a good size triangle between Whizzer, Viper and the IMAX theatre. Even more if the go-carts are moved. There's also a lot of space around the observation tower and the space shuttle .. again, even more if the go-carts are moved. There is also room on the other side of the park, between Superman and the rapids. I also agree that maybe days are numbered for Iron Wolf. I don't actually have any real information .. just the belief that it's the least necessary coaster there. Removing Whizzer or Demon would be disastrous as they both fill such important rolls. Iron Wolf, despite how much I actually like it, seems to be one of the least popular coasters .. and it's really not giving good rides anymore. Plus, the location could be home to a sit-down looping coaster as tight and intense as Batman The Ride. But the water-park will likely receive the bulk of the improvements for the next several years. Even though I really don't care for water-parks, I can't fault them for favoring it since it's such a massive draw. Cameron.
BHILK Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 A sit down/floorless or maybe even a launch coaster over and around roaring rapids would be amazing. I love b&m but it would be awesome to get a smaller rocket with inversions like storm runner.
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 They have enough room if they use some of hometown square and make it go backstage between Deja Vu and B:TR, they just need to plan and they can do something Im sure
