My Haunted House

Recommended Posts

Over the past threee years I have been running a large haunt in my basement. I work on it pretty much all year, and have spent close to 5k on it.

Everyone who has gone through has given it 'rave' reviews. Some people even said it was the best haunted house they've ever been in, and a few people even said it was better than the haunts at Universals Horror Nights...now thats a compliment.

This year is going to be the last and final year I run it in my home. After that, we're going to move into a large, permanent location.

Here are a few pictures...

They are of my haunts 05' fliers...

Nope, no walk through videos.....in fact, no videos at all.

Everyone is welcome to throw in their ideas for scares and what not, but they have to tie in with the different themes.

There'll be a cave, a typical haunted mansion, an insane asylum, a butcher room and a forest.

For the insane asylum make sure to include a dirty, crap infested bathroom with crazy psychos like Halloween Horror Night 13's Psycho Scareapy. I never got the opportunity to experience it but I heard it was aesome because Universal pumped in a strong fece scent.

I've been in the Haunting business now for 27 years, I appluad your efforts. My currnet haunt is the nightmare factory ot the Oregon school for the deaf. (where I have worked for 18 years).

On average we see 5 - 8,000 visitors a year.

Our haunt cover 11,500 square feet. this has been a great fund raiser for the dorm programs at the school.

First off let me point you towards the transworld Halloween show in Chicago next week. (search for the transworld expo, or halloween show in Chicago. If you can go, do so. you'll find everything halloween there. (it's the IAAPA of the haunt world!)

hauntworld.com is good

Hauntedattraction. com is great, Lenord is the man.

Join IAHA.com

there are tons of home haunt sites out there. one thing to remeber is if you go over 1,000 square feet you open yourself up to inspection by the fire marshal, even if you only are a home haunt.

Feel free to drop a line any time.

Yeah, I know about all that stuff. I'm a member of all three sites you listed. I've memorized every single haunted attraction company out there that sells products, so I don't really need to go to Transworld. Also, I couldn't even go, you have to be 18 yrs or older. Theres like, naked gothic chicks running around and stuff.

I wish I could go...

Pure Randomness, what maze are you talking about? Universal's or mine? Well, mine takes about 4-5 minutes to walk through...I don't know about Universal's.

  • 4 weeks later...

Our local Volunteer Fire Department used to hold a haunted house and haunted trails attraction for I believe 13-15 years. But back in 2003 a week before the weekend they held it, the house caught fire and burned to the ground. Speculations rose as if it was either arson or an electrical fire. The fire was said to have started in the back of the abandoned farm house in the kitchen area then spread like crazy since the house was in the process of being decorated.

My friend who works for the fire dept went to the scene and the firedept couldn't do anything but let it burn to the ground. It was really weird when I passed by the house, the night before I was driving home from work and I always take Floydville Rd. and I saw the house and the lights were on inside and people were working (this was after 9pm) and the next morning when I was going to work the house was gone. When the weekend arrived they did have the haunted trail open and at the end they had this huge RIP sign for the house which stood for a good few months, and they had a billboard of the house on flames. And after that fateful weekend, the fire department announced that that was the last year for the haunted house. Without the house, "Nightmare on Floydville" would never be the same.

My brother and some other people run one, my sister went through it and said it was really scary.

Hey, for the butcher room you could have some ugy with a Butcher's Knife pop out at the peeps like he's going to cut them up, lol that woudl be hella funny to watch.

I actually already have the entire haunt planned out.

When the guests first enter the butcher room, they will be forced to turn right becuase of this animatronic that will be in their way....

As they move around the table the snake is hidden inside the body. The doctor/butcher will trigger it and the snake will fly up. Then, the guests will make their way over to the set I posted above (the table with the guy on it) and the doctor/butcher will stop the guests and pick one of them to cut a vein inside the autopsy prop. Right as the selected person is going to cut the vein the doctor/butcher will trigger a hose that will spray out through the stomach onto everyone in the room. Then, an actor with a butchers apron on and a pig mask will fly out of a stell cabinet that will be to the left of the group. He will have a power saw and will be going up and down the people legs with it and stuff. The guests then will exit the room.

So, what do you think of that?

What do you mean by "Haunt Quality". Like, as good as the large profit haunted houses? Because like I said earlier, alot of people told me it was better (scene decoration and scare wise) than Universals Halloween Horror Nights and most other haunts they had been to.

If anyones in the Atlanta area, and would like to come and take a behind the scene look, e-mail me at info@frightmarefactory.net

It says he chooses a guest to cut his veins, what makes u think the guest will agree to getting his veins cut... lol. Cant u make the maze go out a door that leads to your backyard? Knotts has i think the scariest haunt. Most mazes, and they have an Asylum maze. Theres an electric room thing with a body getting shocked, and theres a strobe light and stuff. Also theres the last room in that maze where theres beds and the audio is like eerie whispers and ppl acting crazy and a body hanging from the ceiling with a noose around its neck. http://www.themeparkadventure.com its halloween haunt.
