coasterdude5 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Six Flags Great America |10-8-05| Well I went on the first day of Fright Fest and it actually wasn't that bad. I didn't get to ride near the number of coasters I wanted but I got three new credits, got to meet up with a friend, and laughed at all the people getting scared! I'll do the attractions in the order I went. Superman: Ultimate Flight 4.8/5.0 This was my first ride on Superman and its number 3 on my list. It was an awesome ride, not as forceful as I thought but it still owned. The pretzel loop was without a doubt the best part. I rode it first so the wait was only about 15 min. Superstition 3.1/5.0 This ride (aka Stargate 3000) was pretty cheesy. Its basically this weird lady that creates a haunted themepark as a ripoff of Magic Kingdom. It had some unexpected moments but was pretty mild. Still pretty fun. It was pretty much a walk on. Viper 4.6/5.0 I still don;t know why some people bash this ride. I love it. I sat in the back and I had airtime all through-out the ride. The double drop gets me every time. The wait was about 30 min. Spacely's Sprocket Rockets 2.0/5.0 I did it for the credit. I swear!! Actually, this was the funniest part of the day. My brother, for some reason was petrified of coasters so I had a huge laugh seeing three year olds getting on and him freaking out at the entrance. I know it's mean, but there are no forces on that ride. Scooby Doo's Mystery Train 1.4/5.0 I had to laugh at this. I don't think they could have screwed it up any more. They were off with the audio and action. They'd start acting after the train had passed. It was pretty hilarious. City of Necropolis 4.3/5.0 This was a pretty cool walkthrough with an awesome haunted house. There was so much put into it I had to think if it really was a Six Flags park. American Eagle (blue) 4.9/5.0 I had never rode AE backwards and WOW, I was missing out. It's a totally different experience. I loved every second of it. It was about a 1 hour wait but it was well worth it. Overall, I had a great time. It would have been nicer for less crowds but I got three new credits. The ops were doing a great job on pretty much all the rides loading and unloading. It was an awesome day. Yes, that is a gorilla on top. Yes, it is on fire, And yes, there are fake people inside. "Come sit on Santa's lap" Yeah umm... no thanks! The Pain!!!!! Yeah, that's a pumpkin! Couldn't have done without one of these! Spooky.... What a surprise....
coasterfreak11 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Glad you had fun. I went Saturday also. I just might have to make a TR with some of my photos. I'm just glad I wasn't in any of your pictures! That one lady that said "Come sit on Santa's lap" was hilarious though!!
pvcoasterguy Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I love Six Flags Great America- all around it's a great park. The coasters are great, the employees are friendly, and the atmosphere is just awesome. I always have a great time when I go.
M_Force_4_ever Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 glad to hear you had a good time...ouch an hour wait for eagle, I wish red wouldve opened either day this weekend...and Deja Vu was having an excelent season up until FF for some reason
MSLSM Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Nice TR. I was there that same day, but it sounds like you had a better time than me.
benzo41190 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 WOW! thats pretty good for a Saturday. I havent really been in the haunted houses yet, maybe I should more often. Good work on hittting Superman first, the line can get very long during the day. Did you ride AE Red this year, the trims arent on as much and it flys giving lots of airtime. Looks like you had fun, anyone want to meet up some time for Fright Fest?
AllisonY2K Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 mmm..demon corkscrew goodness. I love how they transform the reflecting pond. last time I was there they had floating bodies and coffins and stuff, along with bloody red water. it was lovely.
Bob O Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 The blue side of AE has been down for awhile and isnt suppossed to open this season. And DV is also supposed to be closed for the rest of the year but i havent found out why that is/what the problem is. Great photo's, im looking forward to my visit this friday!!
benzo41190 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 ^really? The few times I went on a Saturday, they were both running and Racing!
DejaVu4Life Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Deja Vu was down in Georgia this wekend too, but I think it was because of all the rain we've had. Has Vekoma "fixed" Deja Vu up there yet?
Bob O Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I think for at least 2 to 3 weeks before the regular season ended AE blue has been down and you could see one of the blue trains on the side of the coaster torn apart, it started when the park went to weekend only operation and i know somewhere on the net i have also seen photo's of this.
