johnrose Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 While they mention the dates are subject to change, this does not bode well for our early December trip... Thank you for your e-mail to the Disneyland Resort. You may be interested to know that California Screamin' is in refurbishment until January 2007. For a complete list of Park hours, entertainment schedules and location closures please visit our website at www.disneyland.com and click on the Calendar link at the top of the page, then the Select a Date link in the drop down menu and select your visit dates. Again, John, thank you for taking the time to write. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort soon and trust your visit will be pleasant in all regards. Sincerely, Jaime Rasmussen Disneyland Resort Guest Communications
Mr.Six Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 This might have to do with its little "uh-oh" a few months ago. _six
Twister II Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 F Thats the only coaster I really wanted to ride when I go to Cali, now, ugg, this really sucks major ass.
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 January 2007 was just a "Placeholder" date. They have been testing pretty consistently. I'm hoping it will be open soon (maybe by saturday!!!) That would be SWEET, but I'm not holding my breath.
DerekRx Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Booo! Oh well, at least now I don't feel as obligated to go to DCA in November when I'll be out in SoCal. First they take away my peanut butter and jelly pizza, now California Screamin is still gonna be "refurbed" until 2006. At least if I do have some weird random urge to ride Tower, I don't have far to walk from Disneyland. Maybe I'll go to Tokyo instead....
Mr.Six Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 F Thats the only coaster I really wanted to ride when I go to Cali, now, ugg, this really sucks major ass. Oh come on! You still have wonderful Mulholland Madness to look foward to! _six
coasterguy618 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Wow that is a long, long time. Two years from now they are going to re-open a coaster that is testing two years before...that is messed up.
Wes Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Like Gregg said, IT'S A PLACEHOLDER DATE. The ride will NOT be down til' 2007.
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Big Thunder RailRoad didn't even take that long to reopen ... and it killed a guy.
socalMAN123 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I say it will be open before the next year rolls around. They've been testing trains quite often and maybe they'll have it up when I go to DLR next week! ---Brent 8)
Pelydr Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Well, i sure as hell knew it wouldnt be open in two weeks when I went to the resort but I thought it would be sooner than this date. But i would bet the first of 2006 wouldnt be THAT optimistic.
Real Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Do you need an entire year to fix the blocking? Or are they only working like 1 person 1 day a week? That might be the case. It doesnt take a rocket surgeon to put it BACK TO THE WAY INTAMIN MADE IT before Disney screwed with the brakes and blocking. Morons.
ScOtT k Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Funny, I wrote a letter to DLR about 2 weeks ago... I guy named jerome faile responded. He said that screamin would be opened up by January 2005 - not 2007! He also rambled on about how he was so sorry that my visit to california adventure was less then enjoyable
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Wasn't January 2005 like 10 months ago ... and like 6 months before the incident that closed the ride?
Twister II Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I mean, I can understand that its testing, but, 2006, I mean, like come on. That pushing it a lil. They are probly just waiting til everyone forgets about it. For example, if TTD crashes, and the next day (imagination) it opens, would you go on it? I sure wouldn't. Well there goes one less credit in the Cali trip... Boy Im gona be really PO if SM is also refurbishing! LOL! O well, Ill live... PS, still really POed.
Pelydr Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I would go on it the next day. I mean, how many people get in their car each day to drive to work and HOW likely is a car accident? I think the percentages would be in favor of a crazy accident NOT happening. But thats just me.
Captain Jack Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I'm pretty sure they're refurbing all of Paradise Pier, so they might close off sections of the Pier and work on them yearly, such as now until 2007 for the section of Paradise Pier on which Screamin' sits. DCA needs that Monsters Inc ride open SOON! Soarin' in my opinion is an E-Ticket, Tower of Terror DCA Budget Edition is also an E-Ticket (like a D and a Half compared to WDW's...) and DCA has other E's, D's, C's, etc. but Cali Screamin' was a "reason" to go to DCA, attendance is going to drop even more...but this is what Disney deserved for building a parking lot into a parking lot with not enough attractions to keep a crowd occupied or entertained for more than 3 hours...
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Wow, I thought the DCA bashing was reserved for the Disney boards. I REALLY like DCA. Of course it's not as good as DL but I think eventually it will come into it's own. If people stop going to DCA because Screamin' is closed, fine with me. That means more rides on ToT and Soarin'.
arrowfanman Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I happen to be on both roller coaster and Disney boards. However, despite my distaste for some of the park's style, I have yet to have a bad time--I always seem to enjoy myself. But as you yourself hinted, it is a day full of re-rides. And with Screamin down, that adds to that, greatly.
Mr.Six Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 That means that they're going to have 50% of their coasters closed down. Ha, starting to sounds a bit like magic mountain aren't they. _six
Twister II Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Im just kinda waiting for this to get locked
Mr.Six Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Wow, I thought the DCA bashing was reserved for the Disney boards. I REALLY like DCA. I've only been to DCA once. And It really was fun! Kinda like USH, can be done in just hours. But like you said Gregg its right next to Disneyland which makes it almost impossible not to compare the two. Thats where a lot of the DCA bashing comes in I think. If DCA were all by itself someone I'm sure there wouldn't be this bashing about it. -six
dadofgage Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 So have they continued to test California Screamin? Any word on when it will be opened?
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 There is a rumor on MousePlanet and MiceAge that it may re-open this weekend. I hope it's true!!!!
