johnhuger
Hi people... this is a question that's wanting to be answered badly.. about The great american scream machine at sfog. It's the coaster i've ridden more than any other coaster on earth... (about 40 times) and i love it !!! It has some of the best floating airtime ever!!! i've also been on expedition geforce and the georgia cycle. Sure, expedition (17 times) has more airtime and is still my favorite, but the scream machine is hanging at its heels and is my second favorite coaster before montu, cyclone, kraken, kumba, or silver star... I wonder if the internet coaster poll or tpr has given too much wonder at this ride... awesome airtime ... not too bumpy(only in the third row of each car)... and my favorite head chopper at the end... bad brakes... but ohh well, it rocks... give me some feedback on this... it's been on my mind for long now... thanks peeps johnhuger Edited September 27, 2010 by mcjaco
Sir Clinksalot
GASM at SFOG is my #3 woodie behind Phoenix at Knoebels and Ligntning Racer at Hershey. Â It's a great ride.
MagnumForce
^And Gregg really needs to get out more  GASM is a fun ride, one of Allen's better designs. It does not have the power of other Allen's that have some pretty wicked ejector air, but still a really good ride, and the headchopper at the end is awesome.  It would rank towards the bottom half of my 20 favorite woodies which is still way above average for as many rides as I have ridden. Tomizzle For Rizzle
After have ridden it 365 times over a 30 hour period I can say that it is, ok i guess. Then again it could have been my company:)
Scaparri
When I visited the park a few years ago, I personally found it to be the worst coaster in the park. Maybe I just rode in a bad place, but I found it to be fairly rough for what it was, the airtime was pretty weak, and the overall layout was boring. I think I had a few ribs broken by the brakes at the end. Overall, I was just really disappointed. I think if it was a little less rough, then it would be an excellent family oriented ride. Yeah, it was by no means the roughest coaster I've been on, but for being as gentle of a ride as it is, I feel it should be a little more on the smooth side. But like I said, I might have just had a bad seat. The majority of the people I talk to thoroughly enjoy the ride.
M_Force_4_ever
I liked SFOG's GASM very much, a nice classic woodie with nice positioning over the water. it has good airtime and cool trains and of course BUZZ BARS!!!!! but I dont think its one of the best woodies Ive ever been on (in top 20 probablly)

CoasterCrazy
The GASM is one of favorite rides at SFOG because of the airtime that you get on the ride, the GASM is in my top ten wooden coaster list

Canobie Fan
I have. My first ride I took in the back seat with a slacked belt and a bar 2 up from what it could be.. Hill "5" was good.. But no better then Riverside Cyclones first drop in the backseat. Â I didnt like GACyclone or GASM that much. GASM to me was a POS.... It had a very long line and we had q-bot.. they filled the full train with botters. We got the last car front row... And umm... Does this ride have any airtime? If it does I must have missed it..... I took........ 1 ride on GASM I took.........10 on Ninja......
doom1001
I really enjoy the GASM but I think my favorite woodie at SFOG is the Cyclone, to me it seems a little wilder ride, just how I like'm.
ParkTrips
I love the Scream Machine, I've ridden it more than any other ride at the park other than my beloved Mind Bender. However, it's not quite top notch to me. I'd give it an 8/10. It's not the best but still a really good ride. Its somewhere in the 10-15 range if I were to rank my woodies. I think its one of the best works of John Allen, and all of the Allen's I've been on are very fun rides. I think the best part of the ride is the beautiful structure and how it used to reflect in the pond where they put Ninja... stupid Ninja... Â I too think the Cyclone can be better than GASM on good days, but since there are so many bad days in between the limited good days, I'd take a ride on Scream Machine to be safe. Homey G.
Cyclone... when running trimless is a frightening experience. Sadly, if you don't go in the first two weekends of operation every year, you'll never know what it's like. Â Over 250 coasters (not that that means anything, but it does show I've ridden enough to have a decent opinion) and it's my favorite wooden coaster. johnhuger
i have to tell you guys... i'm not a lover of laterals and the cyclone has tough laterals as i know it.. I've been on the cyclone and the rest of the coaster at sfog about 10-20 times, so i know the rides there can be... however , i have never known a different cyclone in all of its days... cyclone's a lot bumpier too... unless, of course, your in a back seat of a car in gasm!!! (how many times i said that???) Â another thing i wanna add... Â gasm is dangerous and funner that way: since the restraints are so far from you and the seat belts aren't tight AT ALL (or safe) you really float way up. My seatbelt opened once when i tried to stand up... i almost flew out the ride if i hadn't held on... Â we laughed A LOT after that ride... EpcotLova
I visited SFOG in July. Â I used to find that GASM contained great airtime and was quite smooth for a wooden coaster. Â That being said, when I rode it in July, I found it to be extremely rough. The back car was unbearable. My knees would constantly bang against the front of the car, and since they have that brake right after the last hill, the hard impact of breaking so hard bruised my ankle and hurt my chest from the "whiplash," if you will. Â I found Ninja to be way more smoother and exciting.
F1shy
Before I left for Germany from Georgia, I went to SFoG a lot with my friends... I rode GASM sooo many times... I love that coaster... one of the best rides in the park. The airtime is amazing riding the back seat. Â Ninja... kills. It definately wasn't made for people over 6 feet. Â Cyclone... very back seat jerks you around so much... gave me back pain for hours. Â Acrophobia... best ride ever.
