COSTUMES and PROPS and MEDIA in a one bldg. Exhibit, from the acclaimed series "Game Of Thrones"! Last two weeks of August.... http://www.pne.ca/thefair/exhibits-and-attractions/game-of-thrones-the-exhibition.html
chemical_echo
Get tickets for that as soon as they become available. If it's anything like the Toronto one (which, I assume it is), tickets go insanely fast. Even with a ticket, I still had to wait over an hour to get inside, plus another 30 half hour at the end to get a picture on the Iron Throne. They do have rush tickets available, but the line for that is always long, and then you'll be waiting in the same lines as people with tickets. Meteornotes
^Well, yeah, but there's no point in having a Moon Door if you're not going to use it regularly... dt

Was the Toronto Exhibit a separate thing with ticketing? Because if it was, this is a totally different setup, as any ticket price is included with your fair admission. And you just have the option of going through it, or not. And there WILL be long lineups, no doubt.
chemical_echo
The Toronto Exhibit was a stand alone thing not affiliated with any fair. I went last year when it was held at the Design Exchange (this year it was held at the TIFF Lightbox). You had to order your tickets online (they were free) for a specified time and that's when you'd get to go. Once you showed up at your time though, there was still at least an hour wait depending what time you got there. They also had rush tickets available, but the line for that was usually nuts. gisco
Poor Tyrion!
Barge84
That was probably my favorite episode of the series. So much happened, including the most gruesome death I've ever seen on TV. Can't wait for the final 2 episodes. We might have to have a GoT watch in Scandi!
jynx242
^I agree!! What an awesome episode. Tyrion is still my favorite character - but Lord Baelish is also pretty awesome.
Meteornotes
Next week's episode is one of my absolute favorite moments from the books. Here's hoping they don't screw this up. dt

Meteornotes
^This is totally not a spoiler, since you know this moment has been coming for over a season: The Wildling Army attacks The Wall. Lots of cool stuff happens, at least in the book. There are two moments that when the show was first started that I figured they would not be able to pull off: The attack on King's Landing and this. Given that they did a great job with the first, and that the same director that did that episode (Blackwater) is doing this one, I have high hopes for an amazing hour of television. I will also say this: if the season finale (episode after this one) ends the same way Book 3 does, the screams will be heard around the world. dt

gisco
Finally got to see the last episode of the season. A few surprises but not a cliff hanger. I started to read the books so that will keep me busy until the next season starts.
Nrthwnd
From the "What I did Last Summer..." Dept. Game Of Thrones Exhibit Tour's last days and for FREE, with your admittance to our annual fair, The PNE or Pacific National Exhibition (Aug.16-Sept.01). First of all, there's a twist to this tour of the exhibit. I have never seen one episode of Game of Thrones. Timing with actual viewing times and channel not worked out, then it got going, and I didn't want to play catch up with DVDs knowing lots of blood and 'stuff' went on through these seasons. For some reason, I just wanted to go and see what the fuss was about this series. And what I discovered was good old fashioned theatrical crafts, recreating a time and period of reality, fantasy, and power...in all the wrong hands. And yes, i did get a chance to sit on The Iron Throne. (And talk about plas-tique!) But I did not attempt to "Ascend The Wall," a virtual freebie to try, while in the exhibit area. Everybody looked like they were having a great time in it. But my balance was already iffy, heh. Virtual goggles and "The Wall" would not help. It all ended in the usual (quickly put together) Gift Shops, which had everything from Family Banners, to dish cloths, mugs, steins, pins, key chains....and on and on. One of those things I never caught on to, and now touring through this great exhibit of everything GoT... who knows? And yes there are the DVDs. So here's a non-viewer's tour of the GoT Exhibit, ending it's cross continent tour, in Vancouver....at the PNE! Here's the pamphlet that's delivered to every household near the PNE area. Which, we are! And inside of it - here's the full page advert for the GoT Exhibit. This is where it all is, our annual fair. "First Building on your right, sir." And there it was! This was the lineup before it opened, at 11 am. Looking down the line at 11 am. A pop culture display - and look! - POP Ups! Some really beautiful materials and sewing work done on all of these. These two were displayed together - but come on! - she needs a head! And he looks like he could use some more "lower armor" on him, lol. Quotes, every where from the series And some stunning photographs, too. Weapons, weapons, weapons. Looks like a scene from GRIMM, ha! More....stuff. And there It is. Over to the left of The Chair, this. Ooooooooooo dragon! This was quite a 'drab and gloomy' set up, to me. Definitely a pair, again. Looking down towards The Wall. A map. Theme Park? No, don't think so. Climb The Wall Virtually. And they came. And they did. And it was a long queue to see. Side view of it. Not much to see, compared to what's being seen in those goggles, lol. Of course, the In Memorium display. Who was your fave death? I would like to have seen this one's death. Maybe I will, eventually. (o; The Future Season - not much to follow, for myself. And I am sure they kept the Awesome Parts of it, to themself. (o; Back outside, queue remained same length, although it did get longer later in the afternoon. Oh yeah. Here. Myself in The Iron Throne. (Taken Aug-27/14) Edited April 11, 2015 by Nrthwnd
gisco
They should of let you dress up to look like a King or Queen for a picture on the throne. I started reading the books and watching the series again. Waiting for next March when it begins again.
Nrthwnd
^ Yeah, that could have happened. But there were so many people, adults and children, some of whom I am sure never watched the show (but it's FREE at the PNE!), that it would have to have been an upcharge just to get the lineup through. That's why I went for a "dark look" and took off my shoes for the shots. Figured my hair and beard would help too. And I liked how the shots turned out. (And it was just heavy thick plastic anyway.) Moose
You definitely look like a crazed king. Never read the books but I love the show. If like to read them but I don't think I have time to read them and my book club book.
AvengedYolo
Season 5 starts tomorrow! Who else is stoked!?
Nrthwnd
We never watched the show from it's beginning, but now we're catching up as fast as we can, and have "almost" made it through all of Season 4. I think we'll catch up eventually, and make it so we can watch Season 5 like everybody else. As it happens.
AvengedYolo
Hbo has been having marathons of the seasons the last couple sundays, pretty sure they're gonna be playing season 4 all day tomorrow leading up to showtime.
Bag_O_Laughs
Any body want to chat about season 5 so far?? What does everyone think? Episode 5 has just aired so we're halfway through now.
gisco
^ So when this all ends, who do you think will be king? The book series is A song of Ice and Fire. Will it be a Stark? a Targaryen?
Bag_O_Laughs
Good question, I have a feeling it might Danny so a Targaryen. But i think she'll award the north to Bran Stark who will welcome the Wildlings to live in the North. I think Tommen (lannister) Baratheon will die. Or in typical GoT fashion the most evil person will sit on the throne and everyone else will freeze when Winter finally arrives. What does everyone else think? Who will win the Throne? Will there even be a Throne to win??
