Erik Johnson
We went to the 1st Heart of Florida airshow today. Boy was it neat!!! This was the first time either Leanne or I have seen the Blue Angels in action. Anyways, right down to business. Here are some pictures. Red Baron loves it when you buy thier pizza. Wow! They really do some crazy things up high. The Red Baron bi-planes doing the Derek maneuver. Didn't this plane use to be parked at Carowinds? This helicopter performed a scene right out of Scarface. This used to happen to me quite a bit when I used to play the old video game, Choplifter. This is better than reality T.V. This guy is going to be dog meat. "Let's sick our K9 dog named Buddha on this loser." "He's getting away!" COPS: Gainesville. Oh boy! I know one area is going to be really stinky later in the day. Blue Angel plane #2 getting worked on before the performance. We are the Blue Angels, come any closer and we will kick your butt. You can check in, but you can't check out. I am glad the tobacco companies are here promoting their product at a "family" show. One of the vendors was selling all of these cool patches. You could probably find some cool coaster names if you look carefully. Leanne, a future member of the Marine Corps. This is Leanne and her good friend Dar, before they started looking like lobsters. I bet this guy knows where the free pizza is....or was. Oh, its the Red Baron group. I wonder if they are giving away free pizza today I guess we got very lucky that there was a single school bus driving around along with all those tiny trams. Oh well, I was kinda looking foward to waiting in line for another 20-30 minutes. Instead of paying for parking, you bought the airshow tickets as you were driving in. And I thought Cypress Garden's parking lot trams were sad. Remember, we are parking in Green today. Well, I thought it was an airshow. At least we can pick up a pet lizard or a monkey on the way out. Erik Johnson
Ok a few more pictures to go. This is Fat Albert, and he left a present behind for us. On the way out we did not get so lucky with the school bus, we ended up walking like 2 miles back to our car. At least we are in good shape! "Let's see any roller coaster do all these crazy moves." "We also pull 7Gs when we feel like it." "We are the Blue Angels, we go much faster than Kingda Ka." At least there was an airport fire truck that was able to put out Fat Albert's mess. "Ha Ha! You like my present you stupid Florida people?" I am not sure what Fat Albert did, but he did set the grass on fire.
Token Yankee Guy
Great pictures Erik. Now for a few comments 1) Your wife still looks familiar to me! 2) The Blue Angels are really cool to see in person. 3) I saw those same exact planes in Maine
TheStig
Nice pictures! I was really bummed I didn't go this year! Oh and about Fat Albert, it uses these rockit like canisters call JATO bottles (Jet Assisted Take Off) and every now and then one will fall off, and thats what happened there. Now that I think of it, I remember hearing a story in the news about some guy who thought he had found a bomb in a lake, but it ended up being a jettisoned JATO bottle. WillMontu
So that's what all that noise was! It would be interesting to go, but since I don't drive, it's a bit difficult to get there (knowing the 'reliability' of RTS) Also, here's a link to a news article[/url]
BelizeIt
I Love Airshows, I haven't been to one in many years. The last show I saw, was at the El Toro Marine Base (Before they closed it) The Blue Angeles flight team are amazing! Their Precision Flying is Incredible! Real
I used to go to the Toledo Air Show here in Ohio. Ive seen the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds (like the TB's better) as well as other great planes. got to stand up behind the engine/exhaust of F-117 Nighthawk. I also got to watch a Harrier land and take off vertically which could have been the loudest thing I have ever heard. Period.
UberBeavis
Great TR I love the Parking Lot trams - especially where it says "Memories of Concorde" on the side
Angry_Gumball
I think it was more like that they were desperate to ride SFMW's Medusa so they performed Medusa's Sea Serpent element in the air.
