Adam, I love all the pictures. We are giving serious consideration to doing the cruise/land trip next June to celebrate our 20th anniversary and Sammi's 16th birthday. My only question... the food looks way fancier than what we eat. I am pretty sure there are a lot more "regular folk" choices, but are those available in the nice restaurants, because I don't want to miss out on those experiences!

Today's update is a little shorter to allow for the next one to be filled with the last of the tail end of the trip's best, so let's resume!

It really is something to see fireworks at sea.

DSC09111.JPG.78a9669ac06b140ef3f3d8a25d47c6d3.JPG

This isn't a Reflections of Earth style show, considering the limited amount of launchers they can have on the ship, but the sky lights up for a good portion of the show.

DSC09114.JPG.fad729b3fd95fbbdabeda027382d9b8c.JPG

This is a very impressive aspect of the overall Disney Cruise Line experience!

After the fireworks, Club Pirate takes over with ghoulish pirate dancers taking the stage.

DSC09124.JPG.d825e08c8d9f81e8124b3e070ae048c2.JPG

Only on a Disney cruise can you find ghoulish pirate dancers that fly after a fireworks show at sea.

DSC08540.JPG.d27f01401f72ed964e20f2a948b2c046.JPG

The next day was a sea day, so I spent a good deal of time roaming the ship to get some photos.

I think I like taking photos of the AquaDuck even more than I like riding it!

Something about floating around the ship with a clear view of the ocean around you and the other guests below is wonderful!

The kids of the ship really seemed to enjoy the AquaLab.

DSC08565.JPG.8ff8ced253d0104f144ef1a0722028fa.JPG

The water play area has some fun interactive elements that add to the soakage. Also, notice how the AquaDuck wraps into the AquaLab perfectly!

Goofy's Sports is at the aft section of the ship with a full basketball court, mini golf, ping pong tables and a special room with sports simulators available for reserving.

DSC08567.JPG.c153918bffdec48cf8b8b3288b9d0fe3.JPG

Goofy's Golf is a very Disney mini golf course.

The location also provides a great view!

The little details...

This ship really is something else!

This is one of several adult pools on the ship to enjoy. The "wade-up" bar is awesome too.

Currents is a bar found at near the front of the ship.

It was lobster night...

DSC08649.JPG.b4a2b4b2ed6d6f1feaa17aa1b8b0b049.JPG

So naturally I ordered some. And it was some of the best lobster I've ever had!

DSC08650.JPG.88d8ce7368cc9866e88a47a42f4d5ce0.JPG

They also had venison on the menu, so I ordered some... Because I could!

Amaretto Cheesecake. A combination of two things I really, really enjoy.

With it being Semi-Formal night, I felt it might be appropriate to get some nicer photos on the ship.

DSC08664.JPG.aede978dcdbf0338fa4392e3c5a61bde.JPG

And this photo well... Because it's kind of my thing. #Rothing

During the NBA Finals, we were able to watch the games on Funnel Vision.

I really love the Atrium.

If you're picking up on a common theme, I just really love everything about this ship.

On to Castaway Cay where I really started to geek out!

DSC08690.JPG.07df0fe2ea86a8a85f4a6c9df8f1466e.JPG

Castaway Cay is a huge island that Disney owns in its entirety. There's already a ton of things to enjoy here, but you can definitely tell that there's room to expand down the road.

DSC08691.JPG.dd2a7e336eddd08b9b1605bfa192995c.JPG

There's a complementary shuttle service available across the island that brings guests to all of the major destinations.

DSC08696.JPG.50171ab1d5b47e4bbc2d21f498bd9282.JPG

Why thank you!

DSC08700.JPG.0eaea66a83af02efc3967092bc92b779.JPG

It isn't Disney if it doesn't have a story!

DSC08702.JPG.6dbcc70560e600540e9919e46ef35a1f.JPG

Growing up sailing a Catamaran as a kid, the chance to rent of these was extremely enticing.

DSC08703.JPG.f1528a8ac6d443277e0327c1d0394d2e.JPG

Disney Cruise Line is the only one in the industry to have a private island that the ships can dock directly at, as opposed to needing to tender. This may not sound like a big deal, but it is a huge convenience not only for the guests but for the operations on the island.

DSC08705.JPG.3c3ea5d86b0fefed65ebecee1de78807.JPG

There's no shortage of character on Castaway Cay!

DSC08706.JPG.807ba3c9bb73be221fc9ab4ad506debd.JPG

The signage throughout the island has that authentic island, aged feel to it.

DSC08708.JPG.fd812dd6bc825af3d5e0addc90ef790b.JPG

The Big Cheese himself!

DSC08709.JPG.63dcf5e6ac523dbdb99c37d2572e42ce.JPG

And Goofy too!

DSC08717.JPG.a0f984f9386da453d4d9dcea6a3e3f95.JPG

For those of you wondering about prices of alcohol on the ship, this is the main drink menu from the island bars, which is comparable to what you find on the ship.

Didn't Royal Caribbean upgrade their island to have a dock?

And now, it is time for the conclusion of this fabulous trip, picking back up where we left off on Castaway Cay!

DSC08718.JPG.9500507b3e04c310d6ba02767e8fc817.JPG

Wastin' away again at... the Conched Out Bar?

DSC08721.JPG.5e6af6b4aca5af326e07f84cf786012c.JPG

Also notable at Castaway Cay is the significant presence of child-friendly play areas, including this large game area at the front of the island.

DSC08727.JPG.8dfd8e3ad512b1182c26b8758faa31d3.JPG

Pelican Plunge is a part of the recent expansion on the island made right before the debut of the Disney Dream. The two slides float just off of the beach, one enclosed and the other open air. The platform also features a mini tipping bucket to further soak guests.

People watching at Pelican Plunge is very entertaining!

DSC08755.JPG.20bea295636cd94be4ed022e17e07913.JPG

Considering my hatred for salt water, I know how he feels.

DSC08758.JPG.6a16a7ca6f6fc1620e2d5603f843b4b2.JPG

Back on the shore, there are high powered water guns that you can use to further soak guests swimming to and from Pelican Plunge.

DSC08765.JPG.046b8fe5ce47d9a2ac37c474437e0f2d.JPG

I believe the Heads Up Bar was also added during the recent expansion to Castaway Cay.

DSC08773.JPG.7594487d9975548818e0acebed604059.JPG

Castaway Cay features a HUGE wading/snorkeling/swimming lagoon that is naturally barricaded from the ocean. Throughout the evening and morning, Disney scuba cast members actually comb through the lagoon to ensure that no sea urchins have gotten in--safety first!

There's also lifeguards throughout the entire lagoon, so you really can go out as far as you'd like without worrying about safety.

DSC08776.JPG.84b20071e45b5ef70abe5f24913f2553.JPG

Castaway Cay also features an indulging 5K path for runDisney enthusiasts. Not sure if you get a medal for running it though...

DSC08778.JPG.e069d7649741327ed88b16c1a89ba895.JPG

There are several family-friendly splash zones across the island for guests to enjoy. And they even use fresh water!

DSC08788.JPG.872de4d2806bbc608181fabf32dcac5e.JPG

Plain and simple, this was THE BEST island food I've ever experienced on a cruise. And yes, I did pig out.

DSC08790.JPG.7a77aa417247e5e6f7392fa6eed83dfd.JPG

And much like on the ship, soda is unlimited and FREE!

DSC08797.JPG.d23e261af3b5033181017134380a42c2.JPG

It is the little details that make me love Disney so much.

DSC08803.JPG.21868b00392d0fd450d3257de9214d50.JPG

This was actually a plane once!

DSC08805.JPG.b079b8bc1b361c5ae7f361ebfcefbbe7.JPG

Serenity Bay is the adult-only side of the island, and features its own BBQ location (with a few unique food items not found on the other side).

DSC08810.JPG.5e50b0ced1607728ee4d48a6f4de3554.JPG

Serenity Bay's main appeal is the huge, quiet, adult-exclusive beach.

DSC08811.JPG.f0078ddff9e10d2fb80ce949ed3bc544.JPG

And it just so happened that Jack Sparrow was roaming Serenity Bay looking for buried treasure!

DSC08813.JPG.7dff1f7b0698444b665662ad198e97a4.JPG

Looks amazing!

DSC08818.JPG.19d40644ee717780068e4f8a3fa9fcc6.JPG

Fun fact: The island has a formerly-active runway that is now that path in which the shuttles bring guests back and forth between Serenity Bay and the main portion of Castaway Cay.

DSC08821.JPG.16d61d2baab5696c1c28a73bb5aeb837.JPG

There's another plane at the entrance to the main portion of the 5K trail!

DSC08823.JPG.0aea33d95c39fb1e4c8b91d078297b51.JPG

I've got knee problems, so running really isn't much of an option for me, but I was urged by my friends to visit the observation tower along this path, so I opted to walk it.

DSC08829.JPG.ad54baffe8f7a7423be412c12ff20bab.JPG

About 20 minutes later, I arrived!

DSC08834.JPG.771a037e9168026e718d53394c7c1a6f.JPG

Even at the observation tower in the middle of the island, there were awesome Disney touches.

DSC08846.JPG.9291d0326f9aa8d9fb098ddbde9a0c22.JPG

Fun stuff.

DSC08853.JPG.f6c7eb8917f3ce1dad72e0ed2ca11ccd.JPG

The top of the tower provides a gorgeous view of the island's unique landscape.

DSC08856.JPG.06569c4d70ed606b7ae55a1f36f5bb97.JPG

And of course, it provides a fantastic view of the ship!

DSC08858.JPG.4b8431f37c33e5aff0ed8b01d92afbf3.JPG

The rest of the 5K trail features some really awesome moments of "natural beauty." It may have been insanely hot out, but the open sky, quiet road and my casual pace made the experience thoroughly enjoyable!

DSC08866.JPG.6f854a1126b672c9f156605ca5a91532.JPG

Back in the main portion of Castaway Cay, there were hermit crab races for the younger guests.

DSC08872.JPG.6371e54e697179706c0b6dfce70daba7.JPG

And a Tom Staggs tribute to boot!

Do you get it?

DSC08899.JPG.3585f4e9be068af1e021e486492cb612.JPG

This stamp of authenticity proves that Castaway Cay is in fact a part of the Bahamas.

DSC08902.JPG.5494ef3f11c6d5963f3a6bd9c51d0fdc.JPG

Tom Wolber used to be the COO of Disney Cruise Line.

DSC08908.JPG.418d496638e0748a1dcfcfe84a553f15.JPG

Back on the ship, I thought I'd take the time to walk around and admire the island from high up...

DSC08909.JPG.6c246007cbb081fbdc4f456140d98eb6.JPG

But I ended up admiring the AquaDuck some more instead.

DSC08914.JPG.5e1f8c79005c259d76c19cb404d5c119.JPG

The back of the ship features a small room with two sports simulators for guests to enjoy.

DSC08918.JPG.12c58da06c02557e1cb5798c58a7291e.JPG

As you can see, there is still much of the island available to be developed.

Another look at the Castaway Cay lagoon.

Quite picturesque, no?

DSC08955.JPG.e09e7c9c34496a834983aa7f8b7df035.JPG

Satellite Falls really did become one of my favorite amenities on the ship.

I spent a lot of time in The Tube over the course of the cruise and it ended up being one of my favorite venues on the ship!

DSC09150.JPG.0424e643e30754727e01738008ce9276.JPG

There's even a royal thrown in The Tube!

DSC09156.JPG.56603ab12100c606f7a1bc86c3851049.JPG

La Piazza was also a really great place to grab a drink and relax.

Still drooling over all the delicious looking food! The snorkeling area of Castaway Cay is pretty impressive. Too funny that you ran into TPR friend Soren, I didn't know he was working on the ships now. Thanks for posting your detailed TR! I enjoyed reading it.
