Anyway, I know I'm not supposed to double post (24hr rule?) but I have made a video + taken some pictures of my new dive coaster model. It has a 90 degree drop (duh), an immelmann, MCBR, and a couple turns at the end. I would have liked for it to have a little extra length at the end, maybe another inversion, but the bad efficiency on the dive train prevented me from doing so.

First half of the ride. I really like how the immelmann ended up looking.

The end bit. The flat turn was originally an over banked turn, but speed problems forced me to lower it.

^Thank you! It is much appreciated.

It's been a while (I've been busy) but I finally made a video for the new model. I made it about 2 weeks ago, but it didn't work properly. After about a week of modifying I got tired of it and redid the entire model (except the drop and first turn). It has a turning drop, a hill/turn that I pretty much completely ripped off of New Texas Giant, oversized corkscrew, and a couple other small hills and turns.

The first turn that was heavily inspired by the one on NTAG

The oversized corkscrew, similar to the one on Hydra/Gatekeeper/Wild Eagle

Great Models! I've always been fascinated by the Coaster Dynamics stuff. Now, I've got two questions for you: Do you keep all of the models you build, or are they disassembled in order to build the next track? Also, have you ever considered grabbing some stuff from Woodland Scenics and making a small landscape or full-blown model amusement park to display your excellent models on?

^1) I tear down all models I make. I tend to get bored with them fairly quickly, and tearing them down and building new ones helps with that. Also, it would be crazy expensive to buy all new stuff for every new model.

2) I have thought about that. It would certainly be a cool setup. I just don't think I would have the attention span to do something as complex as that. But again, with the thing I said above, it would probably not be up for more than a few months if I did that. It could also get kinda expensive too. Although, I might end up doing some kind of simple thing like making buildings out of cardboard and having the coaster go through them.

Montu32 (from the Coasterdynamix forums) has done some very cool models like that. Here's one:

I just checked out the CD site for the first time in a long time. I own a scorpion set, a few expansions and a couple of different trains from various parks. However, I am VERY happy I purchased my set when I did, as it looks like they are REALLY chincing out on the sets now a days.

...AND WHAT DID THEY DO TO THE COMMET?!

Anyways, I think your models are fantastic. My set is packed up in a box at my family home right now, and this makes me want to rush home, find it and play! AHAHA Keep up the great work!

Ok....I have a few questions here. First, how are we "chincing out" on our sets? We have just re-issued the Scorpion. It has been vastly improved and updated. We have come out with several wooden coaster models that are PRE-BUILT and a Tumblebug ride. All of which are very high end models. We are going to be selling a working Gatekeeper model to Cedar Point for sale at the park. We have Gatekeeper Statix coming too. As far as the Comet (Commet?), what are you talking about? That kit hasnt' changed in 8 years! Contrary to what you seem to think, the sky is not falling here at CD. In fact, we continue to work on new releases on a daily basis. There is actually more going on behind the scenes than ever before. Just because we come out with molded track segments, doesn't mean we have "sold out". The goal is to take our product to the masses and sell as much as we can. In order to do this, we need to make the product cost effective. It seems like if we aren't being criticized for having expensive items, we are getting bashed for cheapening the items we do have. It can't go both ways.

I made my comments based upon what I have been able to view on the website, which I have now come to understand is under a HUGE redevelopment.

As for the Comet set (sorry about the misspelling of Comet in my original post (iphone autocorrect), I had only seen and been able to find the newest version of the set (Scorpion track version) leading me to believe that the Original and Wood options were discontinued.

I am (personally) not a fan of the pre-moulded sections of track. I love the way that the original semi-flexible track looks and preforms, but I do understand and appreciate that for the masses it allows for a quicker construction and a more user friendly experience. I suppose that the semi-flexible track is still able to be purchased separately (though direct contact with one of the CD team?) for those who do not like the look of the pre-moulded sections?

As for the comment I made regarding the chincing out on sets: I made that comment because in the picture of the Scorpion on the site it shows the number of cars on the train at 6, which is one less than when I bought my Scorpion. I'm not sure if what I am seeing is true, or if it is just the image. There is no "Product Description" on the site that I was able to find leading me to go off what I could see in the picture.

Don't get me wrong, I am a BIG supporter of Coaster Dynamix, and I absolutely love my sets. I have been using them non-stop since I purchased them 6 years ago. However, the site is a bit of a mess making it very hard to navigate and find information. I am glad to hear that you are not "chincing out" on the sets, and that you guys are busier than ever before.

So it's been a while.....but I made another model. It's a dive coaster with no inversions (it had a zero-g but there was too much friction and the train wouldn't complete the course). Kind of a bland model...but it's the best I could do with a dive train. I used my SheiKra train, since I hadn't done so yet.

New Smiler-based eurofighter coaster! As always, comments/criticism is more than welcome.

If anybody has any suggestions or requests as to how I should build a future model/what type of model to build/certain elements to feature, please let me know! I will most likely honor the request (or at least try to).

Zach, I'm a huge fan of these models! Amazing work!

This seemed to be the place to ask these questions as the experts frequent this thread:

1) I have just started collecting Statix trains after a trip to Cedar Point. I picked up a Gatekeeper, Maverick, Dragster, and MF train. Did they ever make one for Raptor? If so, will they ever be available again? It seems the inverted trains are extremely popular and sell out fast.

2) Did CD ever make replicas for Leviathan? Have you ever made a flying coaster train?

3) If there is a CD staff on here: How can I get a Griffon train without going to Virginia again? Could I order one if I called CD directly?

4) As I said before, I was at Cedar Point, I heard a working Gatekeeper model may be coming out, but did not see one at the park. Is this still in development? Could you show us some sneak preview pics or juicy details?

5)Can I get different colored track besides red? Is there a way to special order some?

6) Have any of you made a working B&M Wingrider yet? Just wanted to compliment Coaster Dyanmix for highly detailed, fair priced replicas of our favorite coasters. The Gatekeeper and Maverick ones are especially gorgeous!
