Andrewoplis Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Last month, my friend invited me to go to Water World California with him, which I was pretty hyped up about because Ive always wanted to visit this park, so it was cool that I final got the chance! Water World is a medium sized park in Concord, CA, which isn't to far from San Francisco. It is a nice park with some pretty good slides and a great activity pool! The biggest problem was that the operations were can range from good to bad, depending and the life Gard. Some times its just normal operations, but sometimes, they waited until the other tube or rider reaches the bottom of the slide just put let you in the loading area(or what ever you call it), and you still had wait to even go down the slide after that! But besides that, water world a great park and I think you should really pay a visit when your in the area! Now, on to the photos- We're here at Water World! That's a good thing to know.. The parks has a nice entrance What the heck is that?!! This is Big Kahuna, its one of the parks star attractions, but unfortunately, it was closed all day due to a broken conveyer belt. The wave pool was fun, but many of my friends told me that the waves in this pool where like giant 7-10 ft waves, but they only were a good 3-5 feet! That's a big funnel!! This is actually part of the wave pool I thought the Honolulu Half pipe was a lot of fun, but my friend thought it was boring. Here's the sign for ya! And here the sign for Big Kahuna even though its closed! The lazy river reminded me of the one at Noah's ark for some reason. One of the cool looking islands created by the lazy river They didn't have to much info on whats happening in the industry... better keep trying! The 4 slides on the bottom are awesome! The 2 on the top, not so much. There's TONS of force in that helix right there! The sign for the the awesome Hurricane slides These are the Cliff Hanger slides! There kind of fun here... ...but they'll make you scream for your chiropractor here! The water play structure looked fun, but they only allow small children on it. Water World really could use a lager one for everyone to enjoy! Later in the day, I started to think they closed Big Kahuna just of the heck of it, because it didn't seem there was any effort of fixing it at all! The Typhoon slides were really fun as well! The slide that ended on the far right was my favorite! Tornado was my favorite slide in the park, you really do go up pretty high in that funnel! But they REALLY need to make it more clear on which tube is which, many people thought the 2 person tubes were 4 person tubes, and the 4 person tubes were 5 person tubes! They have one of those crazy drop slides like Noah's Ark! This kids area looked cool, but we didn't check it out. That's it for this TR, so thanks Water World for a great day! Thanks for reading!
MrSum1_55 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Finally! A photo TR of a NorCal water park! I have waited for this for a long time. I have been planning to do many of the water parks in this area, yet I have no waterproof camera that I can keep with me.
Andrewoplis Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 ^ I also did a PTR of Sun Splash if you want to check that out!
Evanaj15 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I live about 20-25 minutes from there, but i haven't been in like 2 years. I always thought that the Big Kahuna was the best. Interesting that they changed their rafts to Clear from the usual Yellow
Angry_Gumball Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Nice, I haven't been to WWC since 2004. Those Typhoon slides I remember riding with one of my friends who is a bit on the heavy side. We were flying down the tubes, may have been that one slide on the very far right. We flew out so fast that when we hit the water, we were immediately ejected off the tube (it couldn't keep up with us) and into the pool. Fun stuff! I'd really like to check out their Tornado slide. On a side note, Who remembers the days of when you bought a SFDK (Well, SFMW at the time) pass Waterworld Sacramento and Concord were included? We used to go all the time.
Andrewoplis Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 ^ My friend and I went flying down those typhoon slides as well! I remember the far right and the far left ones being the fastest.
greatamerica1990sfan Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 That Honolulu Half Pipe looks so booring. Down Hill Thunder at CGA is way better. It's been years since I've been to Water World Concord. 1 & only time I went was in 1996!
DJeXeL Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ^ My friend and I went flying down those typhoon slides as well! I remember the far right and the far left ones being the fastest. Didn't get any scrapes on your back???

Angry_Gumball Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Back when I rode the Cliffhanger slides, because of how my arm was positioned, I got 'slideburn' on it...didn't stop me from going down the rest of the slides however. I think they had me put my hands behind my head when I went down, don't remember.
MrSum1_55 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 ^ I also did a Photo TR of Sun Splash if you want to check that out! Oops! Skipped over that report. Nice TR, although I was planning on being the first one to do a photo TR of that park! You stole my title! Half-pipes boring? These things scare the living crap out of me! True, the ride is boring after the first drop, but some of the larger ones (60+ft) actually scare me more than any amusment park ride in existance! (even Intamin drop towers, starflyers, etc.) For me, it's funnels that just don't quite do it. All a funnel is is a covered half pipe, minus the insane drop into it.
Andrewoplis Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 ^ Don't worry, I had the tittle of the first TR of Noah's Ark on TPR stolen from me just a couple weeks before I posted mine, so your not alone!
805Andrew Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Nice TR of Waterworld Concord. Since I did Raging Waters San Jose this year I may do Waterworld Concord next year. I noticed each Bay Area water park offers water slide experiences different from the other, and since they are now owned by the same company this will probably continue. Now if one of these water parks could get a Master Blaster that would be great. Finally! A photo TR of a NorCal water park! I have waited for this for a long time. I have been planning to do many of the water parks in this area, yet I have no waterproof camera that I can keep with me. Don't forget to check out my photo TR of Raging Waters in San Jose also. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60019 I just posted it yesterday.
RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Now if one of these water parks could get a Master Blaster that would be great.. Sunsplash in Roseville has one. I haven't been to Waterworld is soooooo long! I didn't know what happened to it. I'm actually kinda disappointed by the rides they have now. I used to go every year when I was a kid. Those Cliffhanger slides were the best! The two slides came straight off of the top instead of easing their way down. It honestly felt like you lifted off for the first second of the slide. It appears that they've really tamed them down. Also, I remember there being these twisty aqua blue slides, a white slide, and I believe a purple and a green slide all coming off of this one structure. I think they all had shark names. What happened to those? I didn't even recognize the park except for some of the similar names and those cannonball slides. A lot has changed. I guess I'll have to revisit it sometime and see for myself. The funnel slide looks cool, the half-pipe looks sorta tame compared to other NorCal half-pipes, but maybe it's different.
805Andrew Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Now if one of these water parks could get a Master Blaster that would be great.. Sunsplash in Roseville has one. I was referring to Bay Area parks, Rosevile is in Sacramento. I don't go to Sacramento unless I am driving through it to get to Tahoe (usually in the winter). If a SoCal water park or a Central California one would get a Master Blaster that would be great too. There's only one Master Blaster in all of Cali and its in effing Roseville at a FEC?
SoCalCoasters Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 That Honolulu Half Pipe looks so booring. Down Hill Thunder at CGA is way better. It's been years since I've been to Water World Concord. 1 & only time I went was in 1996! You'd be very surprised...Especially if you ride the one in Sacramento which only uses single rider inner tubes. Those halfpipes scare the living daylights out of me, and pretty much everyone I know is freaked out by them... The drop is much more intense then down under thunder's, as it is much steeper.
MrSum1_55 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 ^What is especailly great is that Half Pipes are some of the only rides around anymore of which ride ops will let you do the first drop backwards, at least at most locations. In fact, at Raging Waters, Sac, I was going to go down forwards, but the ride op gave me a surprise spin! This was quite exciting and unexpected, especially since the RW parks seem very strict on rider restrictions. (No single riders on a bowl ride? Really!?)

There WAS a 2 purple and green slides that I didn't get a picture of, you used a rope bridge to get to them.
robbalvey Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Later in the day, I started to think they closed Big Kahuna just of the heck of it, because it didn't seem there was any effort of fixing it at all! Parks don't close popular attractions "for the heck of it." If it was down to a broken conveyor, it's very possible that the reason why you saw no effort is because they might have been waiting on a part to come in to fix it.
Andrewoplis Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 I was being sarcastic.... But thanks for the run down anyway!
