Andrewoplis Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) Ok, so this summer, my family and I took a BIG road manly on I80 but in other parts of the US as well! The farthest east we went was Indiana which is a pretty far distance from California but we had a great time! So, here is a list of the parks we have hit: Golfland Sunsplash (Below) Lagoon(Pg 1, after SS) Adventure Land(Pg 2) Indiana Beach(Closed) Six Flags Great America(Pg 2, after AL) Noah's Ark(Pg 3) Timberfalls(Pg3 Mt Olympus(Pg3 after NA) Valleyfair!(Pg3 after MO) Mall of America (Pg3 after VF) Fun Plex(Pg3 after MOA) Park City(Pg3 with FP) So with that, its time for Sunsplash! Sunsplash is a smaller sized water park with some great slides and one of the best looking mini golf courses ive ever seen! They have a half pipe slide called Stealth ,which I didn't get a good picture of, and it was ok. The life gard accidentally sent me down backwards which was pretty cool. Now, on to the pictures: ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and added "Photo TR:" to your thread's title. Thanks for sharing this with us! Into the castle we go! The castle leads to the arcade and and this AWESOME looking mini golf course! I didn't get to play, but it looked like fun! How not to land your plane! I have my sexy wrist band, lets go! Not only is this the name of a pretty awesome video game, its were most of the slides are. First up, there master blaster slide creatively named Master Blaster. Riding this first wasn't a very good idea because it was the fastest moving line at the park, but its still really awesome!! The Green and blue slides are called Dark Tunnel, they don't look like much, but they ended up being a lot of fun! These two slides are called Twin Twisters, they're similar to Dark Tunnel, but not as good. They both had sort lines though! Sunsplash had a fantastic kids area! Which proved to be a lot of fun for the older kids as well! This water play structure was a lot like the one at SFDK, there were to buckets, water guns, and a whole lot more! Don't judge them, there cool too! They also have "not Dan friendly" basket ball! Sunslpash is one of those parks were the slides( in this case 3 slides) dump into the lazy river! Random pipe! Six Shooter (Green and purple) was really fun! I got airtime! The Wave pool The park had a snack bar, which served up some pretty good food at a descent price. This is Vortex, the cute looking, but evil body bowl! This thing is insane! Is he surprised to see you, or feeling something up is anal area? You diside! Stormrider's (Mamoth bowl) bowl and dump area Coming out of the park, I noticed some gokarts Thanks Sunsplash for an awesome day!! Edited September 18, 2011 by Andrewoplis
1pizza14 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Looks like a cool and compact water park. I love that all of the slides rap around each other. Thanks for the TR
Team Thriller Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Sunsplash is in my hometown Roseville. I lived there when I was 8! I love seeing how much it has changed! Thanks for the TR. --James
Andrewoplis Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) Its time for the next park of this trip, Lagoon! Lagoon is a medium sized park just out side of salt lake city, featuring some great rides, water park, and a cool, museum type area called Pioneer Village. I heard mixed things about this park and its rides, but they were both awesome! The park is kind of set up like SFDK due to the fact that most of Lagoon's major coasters are in the front of the park, and they also have some great flats! The parks star attraction Wicked was closed until around 3:30, but more into that later! Its time for the pictures: Were at lagoon! When we got there, they were already testing the rides.. ..all but Wicked The entrance Were in! OMG ITS WORLD OF COLOR!!!! The Carousel, it had a spinning car in it. The ropes are down, lets go see if Wicked is open! What are you looking at? Wicked is still down, so its time for some Schwarzkopf goodness! The station, there is assigned seating and they were running only one train, but that ok since the line moved pretty quick! It my not look like much, but this thing totally kicks butt! Come on guys! I spy a credit! Wild Mouse was a fun ride, but its one of the rougher mice ive been on. RA ima CRAZY spider! Give me some people!! That giant spider leads to The Spider, a Maurer Sohne spinner which is a lot of fun! This ride may look like a normal top spin, but its pretty much a top spin meats water ride. I didn't get to ride it though. YES! They have a rock o plane! But all get to that later Time for the park woody, Roller Coaster, it was actually pretty smooth! Not that much airtime though. This was a strange, old school dark ride and it was pretty cheesy. This may just look like a ball here, but it spun using water which was cool! Time for the parks newest coaster, Bombora. It was pretty fun, a very nice addition to the park. The trains were very comfortable, and there are many larger coasters that could use trains like these. Hello! Im a random train guy! How are you? I spy a Vekoma behind those trees! But first, some more Schwarzkopf. Jet Star 2 was fun, but insane! And by insane, I mean INSANE! Time for Samurai, ive been wanting to go on a top scan for a while now, so I was happy I finally got to ride one! It was different than I expected, but still loads of fun! Since were in Utah, it only makes sense that they have an S&S ride here. They have flyers, and they were awesome! Lots of cable snapping! Now its time for the Vekoma ride, Bat. It was fun with only a little Vekoma roughness. Thanks for reading, more lagoon soon! Edited August 18, 2011 by Andrewoplis
simon8899 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Lagoon seems to be a cool park. How many loops does the Schwarzkopf looper have? - But those loopers all kick even after now mostly 30+ years! And hey - they've a Schwarzkopf Jet-Star - miss that on our carnival-circuit like the Katapult. Plus a Zierer High-Energy!
gisco Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Lagoon is one of those nice little parks that is kind of out in the middle of nowhere if your doing a coaster trip. Thanks for sharing.
Andrewoplis Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Lagoon seems to be a cool park. How many loops does the Schwarzkopf looper have? - But those loopers all kick even after now mostly 30+ years! And hey - they've a Schwarzkopf Jet-Star - miss that on our carnival-circuit like the Katapult. Plus a Zierer High-Energy! There are 2 loops on the Schwarzkopf looper. 2 awesome loops that is.
Andrewoplis Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 So, sorry that this update took so long, I haven't have internet in these past few hotels. Theres some bad news, Indiana beach was close the day we when due to some power outage. But it was still a great day. Now, some more lagoon. Wicked is still down Yay fire dragon! About a minute or 2 after get of the ride, I noticed something... WICKED IS TESTING!! On of the ride ops told the people waiting for the ride to open that its going to take a while. So time for something else. Time for some Rock o plane. This ride is pretty much ferris wheel meats Zipper. They some times seem pretty rickety, but there awesome! Hello mr. lama Time to eat! This was actually one of the best tasting subways ive been to. BTW, the park lets you bring in out side food if you don't wan't to pay for it. ITS WORLD OF COLOR 2!!!! I did like the architecture of this park, it looked nice. We'll get to this later This ended up being a lot of fun Giant shoe attack! Oh noes! This pirate ship was actually on the water! I spy a credit! But first, one of my favorite areas of the park TUNNEL! Pioneer Village is a nice, historic area which has 2 of the parks water rides The log ride This is where most of the shops and galleries are The goodies in here looked great! Many of the "Shops" are these museum type galleries. The food and drink shops were really shops though. Thought this was something else at first The other water ride is a rapids ride Time for some more Schwarzkopf loopy goodness! 30 years and still totally awesome! While in line, It finally happened.. WICKED IS OPEN!! There was a single rider queue, but 99% of the people in the line weren't single riders, just groups making real single riders wait longer than they should. If you didn't know, Wicked is a Tower launch coaster from Zierer, and is currently the only one of its kind. The seats and lap bars were very comfortable and the ride was very smooth. It felt really cool being blasted up the tower and there was some great air time a the top, and coming down from the tower. Wicked is a great ride to me! I would love to see more of these! Even more lagoon coming soon!
Andrewoplis Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) Hooray for more Schwarzkopf insanity!Ok, so here is the final update from lagoon, ill try the get the next updates for the next park soon. So- the final pictures from lagoon! Time to head to the water park, and the water is FREEZING cold!! They have an awesome kids area These were cool too! The white slide at the bottom left was very cool! There are some nice photo ops of Bombora from the water park This is a Schwarzkopf car, now reach into your screens and pet it... you know you want to! The clouds came in and its started to rain a little, which drove out quite a bit of the crowd! Which means more rides for us! This place does have a really nice back drop! Looks like lagoon got this as well. Don't mind the back of my brothers head, but I just want to point how many people there were making this park all nice and clean! Spinning goodness! Its to started to get darker, so many of the rides started to look all prudy! They have a Himalaya here too I was all little suprized that they allowed single riders on this, Lagoon has a very strange single rider policy that allows absolutely NO single riders in the back seat of ANY of the roller coasters, even the kiddy coaster! Spider and Jet Star 2 dont even allow them at all. Schwarzkopf > Huss enterprises IMO. But it was still a fun ride While going to put something away in the car, I noticed this dark ride tucked away in a corner in the front of the park. It was a strange ride, it was called Dracula's castle or something like that, but it had nothing to do with Dracula, and not much with castles ether. Time to ride the S&S tower, it was OK, not as good as intamin towers IMO. I got the credit!! YEAH!! Guns on a kiddy ride, what a great idea! They have a train! Thanks Lagoon for an awesome day!! Next stop, Adventure land!! Edited October 18, 2011 by Andrewoplis
beatle11 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 How long until someone falls out of the raft, drowns, and the park gets sued? Nice TR though.
Andrewoplis Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 OK, so its time for the next park, Adventure Land! Adventure Land a small park out side of Des Moines in Altoona, and this might be one of the nicest parks ive been to! The place has a real "Old School" feel to it and a cool water park. One think I notice is that many of the employees looked to be 40-70 years old, so it was a little weird since my home park is a SF park so its the complete opposite there, but any way, on to the pictures! Were here at Adventure Land! Hmmm, now where have I seen this before? The main street here is awesome! The park did a great job on the new side of main street! It looks like that moved the break dancer into the arcade, that pretty cool to me! let check out some of the other parts of the park, shall we. The park has a cool looking Log flume, didn't ride it though. Side Winder was awesome, it ran program better than most frisbee's in the U.S. I really wanted to ride this, but I never got around to it First up, Out Law. Like I heard, its a CCI the looks and runs much like a GCI. It was a fun little ride, and it almost never got a line! Next up... ..This ride It really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. I kept hearing how the helix on this ride was "Rip your lungs out intense", but it wasn't that bad. The second loop was the most intense part of the ride. Time for the next ride Though the woods we go... ... to get to this It was a fun out back coaster, not to much air time though. OMG, A rotor! I always wanted to go on one, and now I got to! It was fun, but its sad to see a lot of these being ripped out. OMG, ITS A GIANT PIG!! Me(Left) and my brother(Right) in front of the GIANT PIG! I really do like the whole "Feel" of the park. .. is really cool CCI coaster/ dark ride. As you can see, is this the most popular ride in the park Hello Mr. Falling star, hows it going? This is Space Shot, and its probably the best S&S tower ive been on. So much air time at the top! Time for some Inverter goodness Hmm, wonder what used to be here? It was cool, a little painfull on the legs though. That top spin in the front there was insane! But ill get to that later Again, really nice park! This tea cup ride was weird, it ran on two tracks. The paratrooper was cool too. Time for lunch! This place served up some good food at a good price as well. When you order a pizza, they give you this little devise. When your pizza is done, it will light up and vibrate. I thought this was pretty cool! Time for some indoor break dancer This one ran a program longer than most of the break dancers ive been on, but either way, I still love these rides! Lets see what kind of a view you get up there Hello mr train! The park as a real "foresty" land scape This thing is crazy! It ran a crazy program! More Adventure Land coming soon!!
Andrewoplis Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 Ok, so its time for the rest of Adventure Land! Theres a little chapel inside the park, but it seems like its only used for shows. Lots of old looking buildings every where. Little KLOOSH!! Oh Mr. Turtle approves!! Funky! Funky! lol Time to hit the new water park! Theres some nice photo ops of Out Law from the water park. They have one of those awesome new Topsy Turvy slides here! There some got airtime on the red, white, and blue and the mat racer slide. This park is really of to a great start! This where the tubes for the tantrum slide hang out Theres a bar as well Wow, what park doesn't have this now Some show tent Time for another ride on Side Winder Still not as cool as Adventure Island Oohh artsy shot! Theres a rapids ride here, but I didn't get a good shot of it Ducks, just a bunch of Ducks Random flat ride Time to head out Bye Bye Adventure Land, thanks for an awesome day!! Next stop, Indiana Beach! (Sort of)
Andrewoplis Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 OK, so, time for the next update! Ill really try to get these updates sooner to you guys, so sorry about the long time between updates. And now, on to Indiana beach! Well, not really because it was closed due to a power outage. But we did go to Six Flags Great America early and walking on to almost everything we rode! So, on to the pictures- We're here at Indiana beach, but it looks deserted Yep, its closed Come on Mr. Bird, open up the park! I swear I see lights on in there! We dissided to drive around town and get lunch and see if the park is ready to open when we come back. It was storming before we got there, so some of the roads are flooded. Yep, still closed.. ..and still deserted. We drove over to the main lot only to have Steel Hawg Taunt us! "Ride me!" Is the Cornball I see there? There was this cool dam coming from the lake. We gave up hope and dissided to head over to Six Flags Great America Thats a really tall building! We stayed at the Grand Hotel, across the street from Great America, and it was probably one of the nicest hotels we stayed at! As my brother and my mom hung out in the room, I dissided to check out the park So, were here at Six American Flags, Ive been to Californias Great America many times, so im interested on how this park turned out after being sold off from Marriott. Hmmm, now were have I seen this before? Heres one for all the arrow fan men out there Hello worlds first Inverted coaster, hows it going? I didn't know they have a ropes course here They also have one of those mack splash battle thingy's First up.. ..This Bull that is raging Over all a fun ride, the trim on ^this^ hill does ruin the ride a bit, but its still fun with some good airtime on some of those hills! Time for the randomly themed drop tower The name of this ride is Giant Drop, but the ride its self is theme more to a mine of some sort. Even though the theming has nothing to do with the ride, its still totalty awesome! Some ones shoe got stuck under the ride as it was coming down, I had to wait an extra 10 minutes for them to call some one to come out and try to get it out. They have this tea cup type ride, it was down both days though They still have two arrow loopers?!! Oh wait, its just that Cyclone clone over there And its actually pretty good! Smooth with lots of airtime Time for a REAL arrow looper Gotta love that arrow lift hill sound. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, there was some good airtime on the first drop in the back and it wasn't that rough Uhh, why does that hot dog look uncooked? Time to take a Whizzer Its not as insane as Jetstar 2 at Lagoon, but still good ol' Schwarzkopf fun! Speaking of Schwarzkopf, they have an Enterprise as well, but it only stayed in this position for about 10 seconds(Im not even exaggerating) Lots of nice green spaces all over this park Yay, they have a HUSS Frisbee!! But it was down both days Time for the Intamin wood Its no El toro, but its still a fun ride with some pretty good airtime. I DID see them race the ride, but by the time I rode it, they were only running one side. At this point, it got to dark for my camera to take any pictures so I had to take them with my phone. So expect that soon! Thanks for reading! EDIT- I looked at the photos I took from my phone and saw that they were pretty crummy so ill just post a written TR for the rest of the day. So look for that!
Andrewoplis Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Starting from American Eagle.. After some Intamin goodness, it was time for the next ride I saw, Iron Wolf. Iron Wolf was the very first B&M coaster, which means its also the first B&M stand up. Ive heard a lot of bad things about this ride, but it really wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great ether. It had no line though, which is a good thing. Next, I decided to check out Vertical Velocity. I love V2 back in Cali so I was hoping this would be good as well, even with out that Heart line roll type thing. And I was half wrong, Vertical Velocity was a fun ride, but it wasn't as good as V2 at SFDK, IMO. After that, I headed over to Batman, the worlds first Inverted coaster. It might be almost 20 years old now, but it still kicks butt! Lots of force all over this thing and the best part in that the ride crew let ride again since there was no line! After some old school B&M goodness, it was time for a "Newer" B&M, Super Man Ultimate Flight! I was a little disappointed of the one at Great Adventure, since it was at kind of boring compared to Tatsu, but this one was a lot better for 2 resins. 1. I only waited about 2 minutes for this one compared to 1 hour at SFGAdv. 2. One this one, the minute my train started to climb the lift hill, it started to rain, hard! So that was pretty cool! After I got off of Ultimate Flight, I noticed that Dark Knight was right next door, so I check that out since the line looked short, and it was! For one, they weren't doing the pre- shows, which is fine to me. And the line was only about 30 seconds long. So after a fun ride on the Mack wild mouse, I called a day and head back to the room. See you tomorrow SFGA! Thanks for reading and please post your comments!!!
WFChris Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Hey, really enjoying the reports from lesser known parks!!! Oh, its "decided." But yeah for real, thanks for posting!!
Andrewoplis Posted July 17, 2011 Author Posted July 17, 2011 (edited) Ok, time for day 2 of Six Flags Great America! Six Flags Great America is a really nice park that first opened as Marriott's Great America. Many people say this is the best Six Flags park, but I thing Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is mine, but other than that, they have a great collection of coasters and flats and an awesome water park! Oh, and, btw, I rode Buccaneer battle, but I didn't take a picture of it from that day, so ill just say that it was a lot of fun! You WILL get wet thought! Now, on to the pictures! Were back at SFGA! Hello Hurricane Harbor, we'll get to you later. Oh, did I say were at Six Flags? Were actually at Six American Flags! We meat again, double Decker carousel RA!! IMA CRAZY TAZ!!! DON'T CLIMB MY FENCE!!! The line waiting for Super Man to open, good thing I rode it last night! Waiting for the ropes to cash in my final credits Adventures land had these and my mom said that my brother and I should ride it because it might be the only time we'll see these, she was wrong. First up, some sort of Raging Cajun. It was a fun ride, but it spun the crap out of my brother and me! Time for some old school B&M goodness 19 years and still awesome! Its right next to Viper as the coaster in the park, IMO. My mom wanted to take my picture next to the Gravy Lovers coaster land mark, so she did! But whats that on my hand? I got some souvenir "Worlds first Batman" spooge!! Mmm.. Intamin To bad Mr. Holding brake doesn't work like at certain coaster in California Time for the "Newest" coaster at the park and my Brother's first woody It was a fun little coaster, and a great addition to the park! This toy store had AC and it was hot today so we spent some time in there. I swear Ive seen this before! Time for my final credit in the park It would be a fun ride if the seats weren't 5000 degree's Fahrenheit! The area the ride was in was really nice! They have one of those Schwarzkopf scrambler type things here! Hello worlds first B&M I really wasn't AS bad as people made it out to be, but it wasn't great. Aw, the fisbee is still closed American Eagles entrance is right next to a teleport devise to Six Flags over Georgia Still a fun ride Come on, let the red side race the blue side! Time for some total bull! It would be a lot more fun with out all the trims but its still a lot of fun! Guess what this the entrance to? Yep, its for Giant Drop! The ride ops at this park like to say these little poem type things as the rides would dispatch, but some of the thing they would say on this ride were a little strange, "Its big, its brown, it will take you to the ground, its Giant Drop!" "It big, its brown"?? Lol Time for the Six Flags Woody Viper actually has a very long Queue, so there some nice photo ops of Raging Bull in the queue As well as Viper its self Such an awesome ride! But El toro still remains as my favorite wooden coaster. Paint ball shooting gallery? Awesome! This was a cool ride I need to take another Whizzer! The sign says it all! Ooo, nerd shot! Whizzer is one of 2 Schwarzkopf speed racers left in the world, so its nice to see that SFGA stills has theirs up and running! I wish CGA still had their Whizzer though... More SFGA coming soon! Thanks for reading and don't forget to post your comments!!!! Edited July 21, 2011 by Andrewoplis
simon8899 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Nice TR you put up here.... What I noticed on american parks - and not only there - that you really like german names on things. But why doesn't anyone google if its spelled correct??? It's "Ratskeller" and not "Rahtskeller"... It would be if we would call "Frisbee" "Frissbe".
Andrewoplis Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Nice TR you put up here.... What I noticed on american parks - and not only there - that you really like german names on things. But why doesn't anyone google if its spelled correct??? It's "Ratskeller" and not "Rahtskeller"... It would be if we would call "Frisbee" "Frissbe". Well, a lot of times, parks just spell it the way the manufacture originally spelled it. Its really common to see a park or carnival here have a Himalaya type ride name "Musik Express" instead of "Music Express". If thats what you mean.
Andrewoplis Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Ok, so its time for the final update of Six Flags Great America! The photo's are now on my normal computer instead of the lap top so the updates should come faster now. So.. on the the pictures! Hmm, whats going on here? It looks like there doing clearing for something, it maybe something big too. There was this store that had tons of family guy and Simpsons stuff Come on Mr. frisbee! Open up! We eat here, and it was pretty good at a descent price, MUCH better in than anything back at SFDK! This kind of looks like the queue to something This gift shop had a ton of things for coaster nerds to geek out over! Yes, we know your here to Sky Trek Tower Time to head over to the water park Wow, now lines? All right! Wait a minute, both park are both open and closed? WTF? This looked kind of cool, I didn't get around to seeing it though.. The entrance to Hurricane Harbor is right next to Viper's queue, so that means nice photos ops of raging bull! Don't be fooled by the turnstiles, its free to get in. Oh, new hotness!! And of course, about 1 minute after we get in, it started raining Let me repeat that, it started DUMPING! No wonder its called "Hurricane Harbor" Here's the park map for ya! (And yes, I know its side ways) It stopped raining, now we just have to wait. Wet Viper would seem really good right now! To bad its closed like everything else Yay! The parks are open! This was THE largest water play structure ive ever seen! Just look at that thing! Poor Shark tums So evil! The lazy river is looking really lazing now! (By the time I got around to taking these next pictures, the park was closing) It may not look like it here, but there are to bowl slides in that complex. But my favorite is that light blue slide there! That a BIG funnel! This was my first shot at the flow ride, at it was pretty awesome! The new slide complex of Riptide Bay, I rode that yellow slide and it was pretty cool! Not AS scary as it looks. The park called this a thrill ride but its for of a family ride to me, still lots of fun though! enacirruH robraH was awesome! A very underrated park indeed! Troika! Troika! Troika! It didn't seem like they had any info on the clearing over by Demon Next ride... ...is not you Super Man! But this! Condor was a cool ride, kind of like a Troika! Troika! Troika!, only high up in the air! Dark Knight had, yet again, no line! (Does the park normally not use the preshows?) Yum! Oh, they have a Schwarzkopf monster thingy hear to! But as much as I love Schwarzkopf rides, I like the Early monsters/spiders better. My mom's a lier .. At first, I wanted ride this, but then I realized that it run the same program as Voodoo back at SFDK, and since nobody ever rides Voodoo, its pointless. WTF? Was there a trolly here or something? Lots nice buildings everywhere Thanks Six Flags Great America for and awesome one and half days!! Thanks for reading and down forget to POST YOUR COMMENTS!!
Andrewoplis Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 Ok, so now its time for Noah's Ark!(And Timber Falls and Mt Olympus). Noah's Ark is just down the road from Mt Olympus and is very well know for the tittle of "America's Largest water park", and this place is HUGE. A lot of these place that have tittles like that usually mean that the rides aren't to good, but thats not the case here! Many of the slides here are awesome, with a few bad ones, but not many! Now on to the pictures! WTF IS THAT? We stayed at Zeus's Village, which is right across form Mt. Olympus, and if you stay at one of there hotels(Like we did), you get free tickets to the park for every day you stay! We see you hellcat, we'll come back for you later! This is one of about 10000 Culver's we saw in the state, is the food any good? We never ate at one. Time for the our first park in the dells As you can see from the car window, its a rainy day in the dells, which means more rides for us! This is one of the best wave pools Ive done! The waves aren't to small for it to be boring, but not to big for it to insane and not that fun! Even the little ones can enjoy it! This is Congo Bongo, I normally love these slides, but this one was kind of weak... ..but Time Warp was really cool! Not only was the drop into the bowl pitch black, but they even got Jeff Johnson to hang out in the bowl! These were fun too This slide was the same kind of slide as Congo Bongo, only tunneled. But its just as weak. Even Spongebob hangs out here The area that these slides were in was closed, which is to bad because the looked kind of fun This lazy river is extra lazy today You would expect something bigger from "America's Largest water park" I call these the " Totally screwed up slides of death", the purple ones are awesome, but the blues ones, not so much. (And yes, those are zip lines in the back ground) I spy some Proslide awesomeness!! My new favorite water slide! The tubes just FLY over those hills! And the really fast turns, awesome! This was a strange ride that had no water effects of anything, its a mix of attractions which I won't give away, but the strangest thing is that the ride looks like its from the late 80's or 90's, but it opened in 2009! Scorpion's Tail is the parks newest slide and the first aqua loop is the US. I thought I wouldn't like this slide to much for 2 reasons. 1. I hate speed slides, most of them make me feel like going to drown or hurt my back. 2. I was scared just looking at the thing. But it was really awesome! The trap door was really fun and I thought that part at the top of the "loop" was really cool! The beige slide is point of no return, and it used to be a racing slide until they put the aqua loop in, and it was ok, but it did hurt my back a little. But The Plunge is awesome! Lots of airtime on that second drop! This is another rafting slide like Congo Bongo, but this one is really fun! Something inside me tells me that this is where Disney got world of color from. This is Stingray, and its 100 times better than Stealth at Sunsplash! Single tube or not The only bad part is the the double tubes weighed ton! So you get a nice work out carrying that thing up to the top. Time for the bizarre Jungle Rapids Ok so this is the "bizarre side", what makes it so strange is the fact that you lie down on a matt, the life Gard raps it around you like a blanket, and sends you on your way, I have never seen or heard of a slide like this before! This is the "Not so bizarre side", you just use a normal tube on this side, I like the matt side better though They have bumber boats! They have a credit here for you sad and pathetic credit whores, but its powered so I don't count it. This is there spill water/ Shoot-the-Chutes ride, which I think is pretty cool to have in a water park! It my look small here but... .... OMG THATS A BIG KLOOSH!!!!! And now every ones all wet, LOL This was actually pretty cool! One big problem I had with the park is the ground, it was mostly really rough concrete and asphalt and it tor up my feet pretty good, so remember to bring your flippy floppy with you or something like that Most of directional signs were like freeway signs, but I guess they can't move them or there to lazy to because all the things on this sign were closed Sounds good! Lots of nice kids areas all over this park! Creepy walrus thing These slide looked like fun, but I didn't ride them They do dump out into the lazy river though Tubes, just a bunch of tubes... These were cool, the middle ones had really good airtime, but I liked the ones on the outside better. We headed back to the hotel and dried off a little more Then we set off to go ride Hellcat a.k.a Avalanche Were here! They have one of those scary looking Sky Scraper things! Were here at Timber Falls... ...to ride that! They have a cool looking log flume here as well But were here for this awesomeness! Avalanche..I mean Hellcat was awesome! Really fast with TONS of airtime! It was a little rough going into the turns but besides that, it was really smooth! Ooo, Im touching the S&S wood! Bye, bye Timber Falls! Hello Mt Olympus! Its the coaster from hell! Zeus, just being boring There's NINETY DEGREES!! in there some where.. WHOOSH!! First up, Hades. Hades used to be considered to be one of the best wooden roller coasters in the world until it got pretty rough not to long ago. Every thing until the ending curvy bits was really good! Those curvy bits gave be a head ache, but besides that, Hades is a really good ride IMO. Time for airtime! The airtime here is INSANE! But there's actually really good airtime all over this ride, and not just this part. Whats this? That happens to be my 100th credit!! Woo! And for the ride its self, its a fun little coaster. I spy another credit! But I can't ride it. I pretty suprized to see that this thing runs at all They have one of those Screaming Swings, and this one is really fast. Time for Zeus, it was just OK, pretty smooth in the front, but kind of boring. Probably my lest favorite coaster in the dells. Nothing really happened after that so that it for this update! Andrewoplis Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Ok, time for some more Mt Olympus! Mt Olympus is a fairly big park is one of the Dell's star parks. Its has 2 really awesome woodies(Hades and Cyclops), lots of fun go kart tracks(which are included with admission), and an INSANE wave pool!(Poseidon's Rage). For the over all park, its ok, its mostly just a bunch of attractions slapped together in a big plot of land, but unless your a vegetarian, make sure you get a Gyro! There really good! Now, on to the pictures! Our hotel is right next to river view, to bad they don't have there coaster anymore Even though Wisconsin dells is know for its water parks and woodies, there's TONS of those cheesy tourist trap type things. I saw every thing from a Deer petting zoo, to monster truck rides! We got to the park at 9 am because thats when the park said they open, but they only open a couple of rides until 10 am, thats when they officially open. Aww, the airtime coaster isn't open... ..nor is the NINETY DEGREES!!!! coaster. This go kart track is open though! A really fun track! I think its cool that most of the go karts tracks here have really tall elevated sections! Out of all they coasters they could have opened, why did it have to Zeus?! I rode this in the back and it was awful! It was so rough I could barley breath on some parts! The front is the only way the go in this ride! It looks like they opened Hades, lets ride! Thats good to know! Well, Hades is down, so I took a random picture of one of the many go kart tracks! Oh, Cyclops its open, and still run awesome! Rode this ride about 6 or 7 times, and my butt landed on the seat divider almost every time on this part! It really is insane! We rode this mainly because its right across from Cyclops Gum anyone? Man I want that credit! This was a fun track, but i ended up getting the slowest kart in the world! Extreme World isn't looking that extreme anymore Mt Olympus also has an indoor amusement park.. .. and an indoor water park! But were at the indoor theme park for this! Lots of carnival style flat rides in here Opa was a fun ride, but its didn't really spin to much. (Oh, sorry that the indoor park pictures are so dark, my camera has a really crummy flash!) Whats this? It looks like Hades is running! This is were the head ache happens! I was skeptical about this ride about this ride because I kept hearing how it became "Almost unrideible" because of how rough it was. But really wasn't THAT rough, Everything from the first drop, the that big hill coming out of the second part of the tunnel was really good! Everything after that gave me a head ache, but it wasn't an slc head ache, it when away really quick! Hi Bryan! Besides go karts and coasters, Mt Olympus is also very well known Poseidon's rage, a wave pool the creates a NINE FOOT WAVE every minute or so! It was on of the craziest thing I think ive ever done, I thought I was going to drown every time! Its FREEZING cool out side as well decided to check out the indoor water park, and its actually really nice! They outdoor water park looked really cool! But none of the slides looked open, only the wave pool and the lazy river. But the slides by Poseidon's rage were open. I only see 2 people, how about you? The indoor theme park I got me a sexy Hades penny Seriously, try these! There awesome! Oh magical Zoltar, why to you rip people off? This thing really did look home made.. More random go karts! This track was my favorite! But why is it called "The Trojan Horse"? Oh, that's why! I felt sorry for this train, even with one little kid on it, it literally took it about 5 minutes for it to compete the course! Even the sign gets hairtime on Cyclops! You can rent ERs here One more time on Cyclops to finish off the day! Bye Mt Olympus an every park we hit in the dells! Thanks for an awesome 2 days! Next stop, Vallyfair! Thanks for reading and don't forget to please POST YOUR COMMENTS!! (I really want to here what you guys think so far!)
Andrewoplis Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 Its time for Valleyfair! Valleyfair is a fairly large park just out side of Minneapolis and is one of the nicer park in the CF chain IMO. They have a very good GCI woody (Renegade), which I recommend riding in the evening because it seems to need to warm up a little. A fun hyper coaster(Wild Thing), lots of flat rides, and an included water park which has a very cool "tube chutes" like attraction! The ride crews and food staff were very fast and efficient and park has an over all nice feel to it. But enough chat, its picture time! Its a very nice day in the land of the lakes! A perfect time to go to Valleyfair! Hello Wild Thing, your were made not to far from my house! The entrance It looks like Corkscrew got some new paint They have and Early spider here, awesome! We'll have to check it out later! Even though some of the rides like Corkscrew were open, we still had to wait for them to open the back half of the park. The new Camp Snoopy looked awesome! Wow mom, your such a lier! They have a new coaster in camp snoopy! To bad its powered. And for $100, which coaster do you think we'll hit first? If you guessed the Arrow mouse, you win!! But for real, it was a fun little coaster and it still surprises me how darn smooth the Arrow mice are! (For a wild mouse that is) We headed to the back of the park for the next coaster And there it is! Renegade was a very fun, very fast woody! Kind of rough on the out and back part but other than that, its pretty smooth! But make sure you come back ride this in later in the day, because my rides in the morning were OK. But my rides in after noon- the night were awesome!! Wow, I didn't know they have one of those Intamin looping star ship thingys! I real didn't like the one at CGA, and this one wasn't much better! The area that Excalibur was in was closed, so I just randomly took a picture of one of the slides in soaked city. There's a lot of S&S in this picture! Its time for the Morgan coaster... ... Wild Thing! Wild Thing a fun ride, but not much more than that. It LOOKS very impressive, but its pretty much a really tall, really fast family coaster! Still a fun ride though! Next up, my first Screamin' Swing! Pretty awesome ride! But the program was a bit short though. Now where have I seen something like this before? At this point, my camera died so I had to take the rest of the VF photo's with my phone. (Don't worry, there pretty decent) TAKE THE TUNNELS!!! I noticed this tilt-a-whirl right next to Wild Thing's entrance Random S&S tower! Time for the Arrow looper and my brothers first coaster with inversions! After riding Corkscrew at CP, I wasn't so sure about this ride, but it wasn't that bad! This shoot-the-chutes ride was the same as the one at Noah's Ark, which mean a giant SKLOOOSH!!! We ate at Panda Express, and it was pretty good, but a bit pricey though. Random carrousel photo! There were marching bands like this allover the park. Ether that or this band was really good at marching! There was a cool looking car ride... ... as well as a train! Time of the parks other woody! High Roller was a cool coaster, and there was a surprisingly good amount of airtime towards the front the train! But this hill delivers, no matter what seat your in! This may look like your average swing ride hear, but it does something that's both totally screwed up, and totally awesome at the same time! They have some of those "dry park water slides" here like lagoon! Look at the line for the Wild Mouse mouse! Good thing we rode it first thing! This was fun little flat ride, and the program was pretty long too! Time for the really big arrow mine train! Excalibur was one of the biggest surprises of the trip! Not only was it pretty smooth, but it had a decent amount of airtime and some really nice laterals! More Valleyfair! coming soon! Thanks for reading and please post your comments!
805Andrew Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Wisconsin Dells looks like a fun tourist trap area. Too bad the weather there seems to suck, especially for being called the water park capital of the world. Noah's Ark and Mt Olympus looks like a lot of fun. I wish we had a tourist trap place with all these fun things to do in one spot on the West Coast.
Andrewoplis Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 The weather wasn't TOO bad when we went, but remember, it can be overcast and still be 90 degrees out side over in the Midwest, so just because its overcast doesn't mean its horribly cold, wet weather! Some parks like Noah's Ark offer free wet suit rentals for those cold days, so you can stay warm and a have a great day, even when its cold! I really would like to see something like the dells on the Westcoast as well! Especially if that mean's tons of awesome water parks and coasters like Hades, Hellcat, and Cyclops!!
