Not only has this been a crazy TPR year for me, but it's been a VERY busy past 12 months at my video game job too! I'll end up having three titles released this year, the first of which was the Spongebob game I posted about a few weeks ago, and then second is Thor: God of Thunder on Nintendo DS.

We just got a great review from IGN - an 8.0! Woo-hoo! Here's the link:

And a few screens from the game:

It's very much a side-scrolling brawler, kind of with a retro feel of Final Fight or the original TMNT arcade games...

Anyway, please buy a copy or five!

Thank you!

I actually got this game the other day! It's a great side scroller with some pretty amazing boss battles, great job Robb!

Does your company plan on releasing any 3DS titles in the future?

8.0 is good for a game based on a movie. Will be checking this one out as well. Thanks for the tip Robb.

EDIT: Robb, you gotta love that one of the comments on the IGN site mentioned the Lion King game.

Heh - that's awesome. It's cool that games I worked on nearly 20 years ago still keep getting mentioned!

Seriously, though, if you like 2D brawlers, Thor did turn out great!

I have to admit, I'm not much of a side scrolling game person (except of course when it comes to Mario! That's a whole different story! ) But this game looks pretty awesome! It's a shame I don't have a DS anymore. If I happen to find my DS I may just get a copy so I have something really fitting to play while listening to Amon Amarth!

I'm kind of curious though, what exactly do you do as far as the development process of the game goes? I see on IMDB that you are a producer, but what exactly does that job entail?

In short, I am completely responsible for the entire project from the very start all the way to the end. My role is to keep the project on schedule, on budget, and completed at a high level of quality. On bigger projects my role may be categorized as a "Senior" or "Executive" producer, where there is a need for more production staff, but most of the games I've worked on in the past few years have been smaller teams only needing one project manager.

That kind of sums up what I do....

Definitely going to pick it up! Still dying for Spongebob Squigglepants to be released! Only a few more days! I noticed that amazon has a Thor: God of Thunder 3DS version to purchase, but no release date. Any plans?

No idea. We didn't do the 3DS version.

Then I'm sure it will suck Thor should arrive tomorrow!

SInce I don't have a DS, I won't be playing it.

But Lion King and Aladdin are two of my all-time favorite video games, as I've told Robb before. (And I played them long before I ever knew Robb!)

^ The funny thing about those old Sega Genesis games, is I just had someone tell me the original Call of Duty (2003) was an "old game" so I'm not even sure what they would classify those as!

Congrats on the review to Robb and all the other people at WayForward. I was just watching a segment of a show on Gamespot that was showing off parts the game and it looks amazing.

WayForward is one of the few studios that consistently make amazing 2d games. There is something infinitely more approachable about 2d and well done it can be easily as jaw dropping as almost any 3d game.

At this point the only upcoming WayForward title I know of is the Bloodrayne 2d title. I don't know if you are involved but I'm looking forward to a new HD 2d game (at least I believe it is 2d) as there just aren't enough of them. Really hoping for a reveal soon as the teaser site says summer for release.

I am, and we are as well!

And to the person who asked, I don't work for either Sega or Marvel, but our studio was hired by them as the developer for the game. Our studio worked for them, but I personally don't work for them...if that makes sense.
