robbalvey
When Atari told me this year they were putting together ideas for another RCT they asked me what I thought, and I told them "Go back to RCT 2 - Play the SHIT out of that game. Re-Make THAT game, but updated with new coaster designs and flat rides, and give people an option to ride their coaster designs in a 3D view." The game can be in 3D, it doesn't have to be in 2D, but go back to what made RCT2 great. I told them following that, you'll need to really figure out a good control scheme (because this would be on a console and not a PC), and you MUST HAVE SHARING as part of the game. You MUST be able to share your tracks and parks. The other thing I told them is, why not RCT on the iPad? It would be the perfect point-and-click platform for the game. Apparently Atari marketing thought that was a bad idea. And how you have RCT 3DS! Which has a much smaller installed base than the iPad. I learned a LONG time ago a very important lesson in Business: When your customer (especially one who's loyal) Asks you for a product, you give it to them. Give the customer what they want, and they will return you with money. Sadly, Atari is not playing ball with this- and instead using consumer based 'idea' data and looking short-sighted, and not the long run return on a product. At least for now. A.J.
It's the whole "built from the ground up" that throws me for a loop. It's like no one from even the RCT3 development team was involved. The only thing that was really, really good in RCT3 (IMO) was that a version was developed for Mac OS X.
robbalvey
"Built from the ground up" in video games PR/marketing speak is them taking something that's not a feature, and making it one. It means "We don't have access to the original source code, and the developers of the original game have told us to fuck right off. So instead of basing it on something tried and true, we're just going to do it from scratch." I have been involved, somewhat, with every version of RCT and Thrillville that has gone out the door. This one, wasn't even put into development until March, when we did those screen grabs and comparisons for Atari. I was later told by my producer at Atari those never even got sent to the developer. But think about it, it's only been in development for 6 months now. RCT3 had a short development time and that went on for about 20 months! robbalvey
Any idea what this is about? Apology Sent: 10 Sep 2011 06:04 pm by Pufferfish Dear Mr Alvey, I do not know if it has reached your ears yet about the conversation that was had in chat on the night of September 10, 2011, so if it hasn't I am apologizing in advance for the disgrace of what I had said in conversation with fellow member Kraken&Manta. I am not one to normally do such distasteful things, but without thinking I said them anyways. I do not deny that I did in fact type what you see, and I will accept any punishment you seem fitting to bestow. I have as of 8:56PM (EST) sent an apology letter to Mr. Sussman regarding my statements. I sincerely apologize for any harm I may have caused with my words, as I for one have had my fair share of slander and libel against me in the past. Once again, this is something I should have known better then to do, and looking back on it, I can't believe I would have actually said it. The thing is though, no matter what I did say it, and it is in the past and I cannot change it. All I can do is send these messages to you and Mr Sussman in hope that I would be forgiven. TPR is a big part of my life and I respect everyone involved as I would myself. This was an accident and a misjudgement on my part. I should not have joined in this conversation, I know better. I am not asking for pity or mercy. I am only asking for forgiveness. Sincerely Andrew C Singleton (Pufferfish)
A.J. (16:41:45) QueerRudie: And let me tell you- I could hand out the bantron hammer across the board for this. This is NOT acceptab Obviously not the whole thing, but I got the idea. I bet R.D. would be able to tell you more. Seems as if Pufferfish was making fun of the prize for winning the latest NoLimits contest.

QueerRudie
AJ has a copy of it (as above) and I've got a copy of it as well. I had entered chat (As is my 'semi-normal) procedure, and the above conversation was in place; and I'm still a bit upset at the whole thing; perhaps the better term is stewing over it. I was (prior to his e-mails) trying to figure out the whole thing; if it's me being sensitive, or me being picky, I don't know. Either way, I feel a bit back-stabbed in it- and was trying to come up with a way of asking this: Is this something I should deal with directly, let the powers that be deal with, or just drop it? At the time I said I'd be passing it up to you (Robb) but I'm one to think things out before making a call- thus the e-mails/messages therein. I tend to be a trusting/forgiving sort- but I feel like I've been stabbed in the back here, and I'm still unsure of myself- and the actions of the others; granted, I know I have to HAVE a thick skin over things- but this to me seems inappropriate. Chat has it's wide open-berths, but talking behind ones back is something I don't know how to handle in an effective manor. Sorry for this- but I was trying to develop a solution on my own. R.D. EDIT: Should I let it go and move on then, Robb? I don't want to make waves- unless I'm in the wave pool. robbalvey
Of course it's inappropriate, rude and shows a lack of appreciation. But really, I'd just drop and move on. Elissa and I see this ALL THE TIME. I mean, hi, just today, one of our banned members posted on TPRS that Elissa solicited his friend for sex. LINK. That's the kind of crazy, wacked-out shit we have to put up with. Most people have no concept of what it takes to do what we do. Meaning all of us. And it's easy for them to shrug it off and be obnoxious. I hate that I have to put up with that sometimes. I'd just move on...but certainly do not "forget" this little incident when it comes to these guys in the future.... mcjaco
I'd move on, but let Puffer know his apology is not accepted. Apologies don't always need to accepted, and I think they shouldn't be just because they're offered.
robbalvey
His apology was to me, and here is what I told him: We are all guilty of doing stupid things. Myself included. Don't let it happen again.
robbalvey
In other news - I finally was able to get rid of the "Theme Park Review Sucks" page last night. They are trying to re-boot "Theme Park Revenue" that they started months ago, and failed. I don't think it will take off, but I can see that Chris Con has already started to troll them. Can everyone here just ignore it, because I feel if it's ignored, it will eventually go away.

A.J.
XYZ's getting on my nerves a bit - he's been reviving dead threads in our forum as well as the Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, and Donkeys forum. I don't know if he means it, or he's just trying to up his post count. Edited September 22, 2011 by A.J.
QueerRudie
Yeah- I sent him a PM re: Reviving dead threads an hour ago- gave him a 'polite but firm ' don' do that again loocy. He's reviving shit that's his own threads, too- and the last one was where he setup a rule for his "Guess the park" thread that he couldn't even abide by. I'd say keep an eye on him... but I think that goes without saying. R.D.
A.J.
I don't know if Bryan (Not_For_Sale) said anything, but TPR member "Astros" has been a royal pain in chat recently, especially last night, to the point where he wouldn't stop yammering about this park project in a plea for attention. I understand that there's an ignore button, and that's what I told people who were annoyed by him to do. I believe he was issued a ban from chat, but I went in and out last night because I was working on something for school.
