HowieP Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) Got a big to-do list for 2011. Included in my itinerary is Kings Island and Coney Island when I visit my cousin in Cincinnati; Walt Disney World, which I've been to many times, but never been to Animal Kingdom; and Boomers (Dania Beach Hurricane) when I visit my brother in Miami. Also on tap is weekend one-day park trips, including my yearly trek to Michigan's Adventure (my home park), and a return trip to Indiana Beach (since 2007). This is shaping up to be a crazy amusement/theme park year! UPDATE (4/28/2011) Florida in October is a GO! Miami is on hold. Cincinnati is also still on. UPDATE (5/3/2011) Miami is for sure on hold with the closing of Dania Beach Hurricane now. Still plan to go next year, though. UPDATE (6/28/2011) Just did Indiana Beach this past weekend. Got a Photo TR posted now! Edited June 28, 2011 by HowieP
beatle11 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I got Road to CP as the major item on my itinerary! Will definitely be visiting Coney Island before hand. Otherwise I have Waldameer, Conneaut Lake, Darien Lake, Martin's Fantasy Island, Seabreeze and of course Canada's Wonderland on my radar for possible visits. I may not get to all of them this year but I will try.
KI Kidd Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I got 2011 off to an awesome start with my first ever visit to Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure in January. King's Island opening day is up next. I am also a Six Flags pass holder for the first time this year and have a road trip planned to make my first visits to Worlds of Fun and Six Flags St. Louis in May. Trips to Six Flags Great America, and Cedar Point are also booked! We take family trips each year to Michigan's Adventure and Holiday World, and I also plan on getting back to Indiana beach for more rides on Cornball Express!
Ed Farmer Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Much the same as this past year. I'll head down to Busch Tampa late April/early May and again in November. I might stop in at SFGAm during September or towards the end of Fright Fest. That would be the extent of it.

My solid plans thus far, are Busch Gardens Tampa, Disney World (all parks), Sea World Orlando, and the Universal Orlando parks. Woo! I cannot imagine a summer without Michigan's Adventure, Cedar Point, or SFGAM, so all those are a lock. I just need to plan one more big trip, and I'll be all set. Canada's Wonderland? Virginia?
alilstronger Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 So far I have Hersheypark planned for Springtime In the Park in April, Kennywood the weekend before Memorial day weekend, Knoebels in April, and the North East Trip with TPR. I also plan on doing some day trips to parks in New Jersey to gather some credits I never knew existed.
mightypotato Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I've got a few trips already planned out for the summer. The first of my trips will be June 14-15 when I head down to Hersheypark and Knoebels. If all goes according to plan at Hershey, Phoenix at Knoebels will be credit #100...hurrah. I'm on the Northeast Trip this year, so that'll occupy part of the last week of July and first week of August. Also doing the SFGAdv addon, because there's no way I'm missing out on a chance to ride El Toro. There's also a tentative plan to go to Michigan's Adventure sometime this summer as well, but nothing has been finalised or anything. Of course, there will be random trips to Canada's Wonderland, but that goes without saying. I'll also be doing a trip to Sauble Beach Fun World to get some ghetto credits. It's gonna be a great summer, I think. There are four solid contenders for my number one coaster (Phoenix, Boulder Dash, Bizzaro and El Toro), so this should be interesting.

I also plan on doing some day trips to parks in New Jersey to gather some credits I never knew existed. Be very wary of Springtime in the Park. Here's a review of it I did last year: Springtime in the Park sucked, no plainer way to say it than that. My buddy and I split from the wife and my daughter as we got through the gates at ten, and hustled on over to Fahrenheit. Got front row on the second train and rode that orange and blue beast for the first time. Very fun coaster, one of my favorite modern loopers ever, to be entirely honest. Got right back on, maybe a ten minute wait, and rode in the back. Awesome energy, even better than the front as far as really feeling a ride goes. Good coaster, short wait, we left. Big mistake. Storm Runner was next, another fifteen and we were on, mysteriously the back cars on both coasters were not operating. No big deal. Yet. Storm Runner was fun, very forceful, similar to one one of the double-spire Intamin rides, nowhere near the force of one of their strata rides, obviously. Still, a good ride, with an awesome barrel roll and incredible unique element in the snake dive. I could have done without the headbanging pseudo trick track, but otherwise good stuff. We decided after SR it was time to meet up with the wife and kid again, further rides on SR and big orange could wait…or could they? As we made our way back to the central hub of Hershey, we were dismayed to note that what had started out as a reasonably empty day was turning into a full on deluge of people. Like, thousands of them. http://www.thecoastercritic.com/2010/04/hersheypark-springtime-in-the-park-trip-report.html I know that some of the days can be good, Sundays are supposed to be for example, just keep your fingers crossed.
Airtime&Gravity Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Depending on what happens, I might end up having a really good year. The only park confirmed so far is Six Flags Great America, but I might also visit Six Flags St. Louis, Michigan's Adventure, Mt. Olympus, Timber Falls, and Holiday World. The only other park(s) I'll visit will be any near where I go on vacation in the summer. There is also the chance that I'll visit Disney World in the winter, although this trip might be early 2012. So it's either going to be a great year, or it's going to be a pretty bad year.
Anything Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 From a UK point-of-view, Valhalla was my major first-time to-do and I did that last weekend. I think Vampire and Apocalypse are the next two major things as I have never been to Chesisngton or Drayton.
R.C. Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 My plans for 2011: Friday March 18 (Day before WCB): I'm leaving my house at 4am and making the 6-7 hour drive down to So. Cal. I'll be going straight to Universal Studios Hollywood. I've never been there, but I've always wanted to go. I'll get 5-6 hours in the park, they close at 6pm that day... Saturday and Sunday March 19 and 20: My first ever WCB! I can't wait for it. Bay Area Bash last year was a nice preview event for what WCB will be like. I'm sure I'll make a couple of trips to SFDK to ride SkyScreamer when it opens.

I have been going to Springtime In The Park for about 5 years and have never had a bad time. I mean coasters were closed before due to snow and cold temperatures and I still had a blast. I can always do every ride in the park in one day. The lines are usually about 25-30 minutes long. This is why I always go on a Saturday when the park is open later - gives more time to ride the rides.
Reon Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 My 2011 plans may or may not be big, depending on employment/driving options. As always I'll go to Coney Island and Kings Island about 7,000 times this summer. Aside from that, I plan on visiting CP/HW/IB/Strickers a few times (debating if I want to go to HWN or Coastermania), and I should be doing a Dells/SFGAm trip when I visit my friend at his Harley internship this summer. Other than that, no clue right now. I'm just working with a Platinum pass and a Club TPR card, currently living in CIncinnati. Any suggestions are welcome of course.
Reality15 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 We've got quite a bit slated for this year, at least for someone with a summer job on a college budget. We already did a trip to Orlando to hit up the big not-Disney parks of SeaWorld Orlando, Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens Tampa and Universal Studios Florida. Next on the list is a two-day Canada's Wonderland, Centreville, Kokomo's run, followed by a four-day Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Jungle Jack's run. After that it's just a bunch of day trips to Cedar Point, Waldameer, Indiana Beach and Michigan's Adventure. Still trying to convince the woman that a weekend honeymoon to Hersheypark would be great, but she doesn't seem too convinced yet.
Reon Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Obviously you forgot to mention it would be a Hershey Park/Knoebels trip. Because Knoebels is just that awesome...
coastermaniac Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I am limited because I am a college student with a budget. My plans for 2011 are going to Cedar Point multiple times (home park), a road trip to King's Island (hopefully), and a road trip to King's Dominion (hopefully). I may slap in some visits to Wild Water Kingdom but I don't count those because CF ruined a great park.
samisthabomb Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 As of now, I have plans to visit SFOT for Texas Giant Bash, Sandy Lake the day after, and SFFT sometime this summer break. I'm also going to try and visit Canton Christmas Tree Farm this December. My plans are kind of limited this year since my mom is having surgery in July and I need to take care of her.
