^ oh yeah. Look at Fun Spot, its your typical arcade/go kart/flat ride center and they seem to be doing fairly well and I thought I read somewhere that they are even looking to expand one of their locations here in the near future. This Orlando Thrill Park is like a Fun Spot on steroids lol

Both Fun Spots keep expanding but I believe the one on I-Drive (literally a quarter mile from where OTP is proposed to be built) is the one they are looking to expand on a larger scale with bigger rides (link to article regarding expansion). I always thought (hoped?) that the Fun Spot parks would evolve like Big Chiefs did into Mt. Olympus. There is enough land around the Fun Spot on I-Drive for that to happen. Kemah Boardwalk is another example of a large-scale FEC.

The Fun Spot over in Kissimmee seems to be moving in that direction with the recent addition of that spinning coaster Power Trip and I believe your right about them expanding the one on I-Drive. More rides and or coasters, you wont hear me complain lol.

Even if they get the rezoning and all, they are still going to have to secure financing and that is going to be the show stopper!

^ Can I interest you in a story about a bridge.

IT LIVES!!!! My dream of my very own Dragster is alive. My feeling on the project is that many people will eat a little crow, but I also enjoy poultry so we will see. Money was always going to be the hard part but it's a pretty good time frame I think. There is a reason why all the parks in the area are investing at record levels. I can't wait to hear more and hopefully not be dissappointed.

On the first nice day here in Central Florida this year I actually said to a freind , too bad they aren't building OTP, days like today would have ruled for that.

^I think they should move it to the Island of Misfit Toys.

I kid, but I agree that there really isn't a need for this park in Orlando.

Monday afternoon the zoning ordinance was presented before city council and was passed.

Ordinance Title: Ordinance Changing the Zoning Designation from AC-3/SP to O-1/SP on Certain Real Property Generally Located North of the Tangelo Park Neighborhood, South of the Festival Bay Mall, East of the International Drive Corridor, and West of Crownpointe Industrial Park and the Florida Turnpike (ZON2010-00035)

I am no expert by any means but according to the news articles from a few weeks ago if the city council were to approve the zoning this would allow the park to be built in the planned location. With the passing of the ordinance I can only assume that means the zoning would now allow for the park.

Strangely the passing didn't appear in any news outlets - unfortunately my original plan to attend didn't work out with my IAAPA schedule but I emailed a contact at City Hall today and was told it passed.

I heard that the land owner wanted to rezone 7 or 8 acres for office space and read several places that the project was dead. Who knows. I am glad to see they are still trying. I am buying the first season ticket if they ever break ground.
