tanthonyam Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Just got it in the mail and was shocked to see it reduced to a large foldput pamphlet instead of the nice magazine with tons of pictures they used to have. Cutting back on expenses I assume?
PKI Jizzman Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Really? That's a bummer. I have a few of those from past years. They were cool to look at! Very nice, high quality I'd say. That's too bad then!
Jew Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 This little thing called the internet has made those guides nearly obsolete.
sros1fan Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 CP changed them last year from the magazine form they used to have. I have been getting them since 1999!
coasterjohnh Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I've been getting the getaway guide since 1989. Keep them coming in any form. It wouldn't be the start of a new season with out it.
eddie200330 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Who needs pics, it's all about the "coopuns" anyway! Just got ours Friday as well, it really did shrink. Wish more parks did this kind of stuff though. It really helps when you have kids and they want souvenirs, to play games, and eat yadda yadda yadda...
netdvn Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I got my second Getaway Guide not too long ago, and I think it's actually better than last years, visually speaking. CP wants to minimize paper and with everything being online nowadays, it's perfectly understandable that the guides are getting smaller and smaller.
SharkTums Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I actually remember ordering one of these in the 90's and thinking how cool it was...(oh god I was such a coaster geek back then!) I haven't gotten one in probably the last 10 years though, cause it really is obsolete with the internet, websites, etc. Good for CP for saving money and trees!
tanthonyam Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 Im sure that is the main reason why, with the internet and the "going green" trend. The website has pretty much everything you need to know about the park.
Pingu1651 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 The brochure is still in it's six page form, but the picture of STR makes it look like they built a ride in a Brazilian forest. I still have no idea why our family never got/ordered one of those getaway guides. Maybe it's because we only went to Six Flags World's of Adventure. I was so underprivileged (sp?) when I was six.
