Rugged One Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I was rooting around in the back of the fridge and found a pleasant surprise. A couple of Dogfish Head Punkin Ales, leftover from the fall. Who says fall is over?
4718 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I've always wanted to try a pumpkin ale in the past, kinda missed it this year, but I wonder if Beverages 'N More has some left over still. Oh, and Wally, had a couple Anchor Steam's the last couple nights, good choice too. I also discovered Pyramid Hefe at a local liquor store, might have to see what that's like because I liked the Paulaner so much (might be a bit cheaper at least). Ironically, that same place has Pyramid Apricot Weizen......not sure what that'd taste like, or how "manly" I could look drinking an apricot beer, but maybe I'd get it just to try something different.
PhishyBrewer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Bought our new dog Buddy some Budweiser gear today.
Guest Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Natty Light...$11.99 a case. Can you tell I'm broke? I do prefer Jim Beam to be honest.

It's like someone rolled up a bunch of hops in thier fist and punched you in the face." Dude, so glad someone else loves this beer as much as I do. I took a chance on it based on the terrifically awesome name. All it took was one sip and I was hooked! Bought a new 6-pack just recently and I love it. Great thread here! Not sure how I missed it before. I'll be sure to start adding some material!! Live to Ride, Adam Revesz
PhishyBrewer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Dude, so glad someone else loves this beer as much as I do. And to think... Robb wasn't going to make this thread a sticky
Rugged One Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 I've always wanted to try a pumpkin ale in the past, kinda missed it this year, but I wonder if Beverages 'N More has some left over still. You should still be able to find some of the fall beers around. They still have a few Pumpkin Ales and Oktoberfests left at my place. Let us know if you end up trying any of the West Coast Pumpkin Ales. I only had one kind (Buffalo Bills) this fall from out there,as the majority of the ones I get are usually East Coast. Speaking of Oktoberfests, I was in the mood for some lager, so I picked up a six pack of Stoudt's Oktoberfest, as I had missed it back during the fall. Pretty good. Anybody tried the Becks Oktoberfest? Thoughts? Stoudt's Oktoberfest. Just what the Dr. ordered.

Heh man, bring em on! I'm always interested in seeing what everyone else is drinking out there, especially fellow local guys. Let's get some more Jersey beers on here.
DerekRx Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Last night it was back to the Works for some drinking and crime fighting and we started "turning Japanese" The Cramps then got some food and beer And the batarang money clip was used to thwart any other attacts on my beverages Using his ninja training, the Blind Faith was saved So Batman sprung into action....but only after Starship "Built This City" was over Turns out Magic Hat Blind Faith was beernapped by the dreaded Double D's Then we got a couple phone calls from Commissioner Gordon on the Beerphone Dave and Roni went with Yuengling Lager I started off the night with a Hop Devil
PhishyBrewer Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 ^I think it's time to hold an intervention for Derek.
Louise Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 ^ Looking back over this thread, I think it was time a looooong time ago.
Hattuchili Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Today I had a Beck´s. a Beck´s gold and a Paulaner! It was a bad day, thats why I needed more then one beer! --Sören
DerekRx Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I don't need an intervention, and if you even get near me, the batarang will come out and you'll end up with a nice bruise on your noggin'. The only thing I need is another beer! I'm watching you
DerekRx Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Before people stop by to intervene.... And he likes it! Not as good as HopBack, but still really good stuff He takes a sip... Starting off the night with a Troeg's Pale Ale
DerekRx Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Darn, that was almost too smooth....didn't last long at all. Up next a tried and true favorite. This one's for you, Ryan! Taunt them with the HopDevil, possibly Victory's best brew
4718 Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Sorry guys, no punkin or any stuff like that just yet, but I had something almost as good tonight......Alaskan Winter Ale. Holy crap, this stuff is GOOD, good enough to make me put the word "good" in bold! Amazingly smooth (this coming from somebody who usually has to "put up with" beer), I drank 3 out of the six pack with absolutely zero problem.......that is, until the other part of this ale kicked in: the 6.4% alc/vol. hit. That's okay, this stuff ROCKS, you guys gotta try it! Wally, you ever had it? Knowing your "history", as it were, I'd think so, but it's definately more than worth the $8 for the six pack!
Rugged One Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Went with the Becks Oktoberfest tonight. It went down pretty easy but wasn't quite in the same league as some of the other Oktoberfests out there. Becks Oktoberfest

I'm a fan off all the Alaskan Brewing beers. I love the Amber.
PhishyBrewer Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Karen, Gavin and I went to the home show at the Scaramento Convention Center today. And after we went to the Pyramid Brewery for lunch. I love the beer there, but by far THEE WORST VISIT EVER!!! EMILY SUCKS AS A SERVER AND THE BACK OF THE HOUSE SUCKS BECAUSE NOTHING I WANTED WAS AVAILABLE!!! Karen had the Crystalweizen. I had the Amberweizen! I usually get the Coastline when Curveball is out of season. But some idiot decided to discontinue Coastline.
Bush985 Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Thanks for the info on that Hop Devil last night Derek. I'm gonna have to try and get my hands on that. Wally have you tried the Pyramid Apricotwiezen? You probably have. I enjoyed it. -RD
PhishyBrewer Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 ^I haven't tried it and probably never will. I hate fruity beers. Ecspecially really fruity Hefeweizens like Sudwerks.
Hattuchili Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 ^ Fruity Hefeweizen? WTF, I have never seen that in Germany. Exist there really a fruity Hefeweizen? That scares me a bit! --Sören

It went down pretty easy but wasn't quite in the same league as some of the other Oktoberfests out there. Beck´s Oktoberfest? I have never seen that in Germany! It must be a special brew for the US!? However, I really need to try it soon! It is so funny to see the original Beck´s beer bottle, the original logo and then the strange Oktoberfest thing! Here in germany is a fight between Beck´s beer and maybe a Paulaner Hefeweizen! You will never see a Beck´s with a Bavarian logo on it or a Beck´s Hefeweizen! --Sören
Rugged One Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Beck´s Oktoberfest? I have never seen that in Germany! It must be a special brew for the US!? However, I really need to try it soon! I'm not sure if the Oktoberfest is an exclusive to just the US (I didn't look at the other Beck's sites) but I did see that it isn't listed on the German site. You guys do have Green Lemon Beck's though. Anyway, I had a Sam Adams Winter Lager with lunch today. I really wanted to like it, as the taste started out with a nice malty sweetness, but then ultimately fizzled out with no finish. Of well. It still went good with my burger at least. Then tonight I tried my first beer from a brewery that I've been wanting to try from for a while now. Heavyweight Brewing in Ocean Township, NJ. They are still a pretty small operation but they brew some pretty unique stuff. My local place is starting to carry them now, so I picked up a couple of 4-packs. The Lunacy Belgian-Style Golden Ale from Heavyweight Brewing. Very nice and sweet. The spices and fruity accents really jumped out at me.
