Gutterflower Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Although its been on the RCDB for some time construction of Chimelong Paradise's (China) new Mack YoungStar coaster has started recently Source: http://www.gd.chinanews.com.cn/2009/2009-12-21/2/33820.shtml Not the biggest story of the year but the youngstars do look superb.
Mochtroid Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I see it now Roomie... some inspiration for an NE coaster! Looks nice, anyone know how exactly they feel?
themeparkologist Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Aren't Youngstars the equivalent of a Vekoma rollerskater?
Gutterflower Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Aren't Youngstars the equivalent of a Vekoma rollerskater? In a way they are. but as far as layouts go they appear to be a bit of a step up from your standard rollerskater style family coaster This one at Märchenpark Neusiedlersee looks awesome
themeparkologist Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Oh...I really meant the intensity/thrill factor. Oh well.
BaMiTsPaT Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 ^^That is far more impressive than any roller skater I have seen or ridden...I hope I some day get a chance to ride a youngstar...does anyone know how they ride?
Mr. Starr Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Is that a splashdown at the bottom of the first drop?
Sasquatch Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 If there is water there, i think the train just passes close instead of touching the water. If the trains are long it would kill momentum, and the track looks quite long.

robbalvey Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I rode the one at Europa and it felt very much like a roller skater. Basically a really nice, smooth coaster for kids. Not as big as a mine train and not as small as an oval little kiddie coaster. Wasn't anything amazing, but it's great for kids. --Robb
SharkTums Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 My biggest complaint about the Mack Youngstar's so far are the height restrictions. 40'' for a kiddie coaster!!! I can't think of any roller skaters with a restriction over 36'' and several have a lower or no restriction at all. Hopefully the China one will have a much lower restriction.
snowboard83 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 ^ Well, there would have to be a lower restriction in China, otherwise most of the population would not be able to ride. (I know...BOOOOOO) No offense to anyone!
SharkTums Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 She's a good solid 36'' in normal shoes...but with that damn metric system everywhere on this summer's trips I don't think she'll be 1 meter which is the restriction for a lot of the smaller rides. 1 Meter is approximately 39.5 Inches for those of you wondering.
Nrthwnd Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 We could all start looking for a smart sensible pair of PLATFORM shoes then, hmmm? Size = Age..... 3?
