Kooky
The old SpreePark in Berlin, Germany got an old attraction fixed. The park owner repaired the old train, with which you now can ride through the complete park for a few Euros per person. The next thing he wants to get alive again is the big ferris wheel, which he wants to repair in the next time. Looks like Berlin gets a very nice and world unique attraction in his old park, at least till they know what to do with rest of the park. The complete german newspaper article is here: http://www.bz-berlin.de/aktuell/berlin/witte-will-den-spreepark-wecken-article604625.html There is already a youtube video of the ride through the overgrown old park: And you will find many pics from the last months on http://forum.hidden-places.de/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/2244 Here are some of them: the now repaired train, sometime before it got fixed:
AstroDan
Wow. I had no idea of this place. Looks like a couple of Mack rides there? It's amazing there is no major park around Berlin. I hope it re-generates as Berlin is an amazing city and a theme park would give you yet more reason to go!
Purplepills
Nice photos etc.... Theres something I find fascinating about seeing overgrown theme parks, even those I have never been to. I dont know what it is really, maybe something ghost like, a bit stange but there you go =]
DBru
Interesting place. The suspended...thing...looks pretty cool. Will a little train ride through this abandoned park really bring in money?
socalMAN123
There's something about this place that just completely creeps me out. Very spooky to me ---Brent
jmicha
^It would make the perfect location for an awesome Halloween event. The park looks like if it was fixed up it would have a really cool atmosphere. Leave as many of the trees that have overgrown the place and it could look really cool. Hey, they could make it a permanent Halloween event. I'm sure that could bring in some good money.
socalMAN123
^ Oh man, would I love to scare there! It has a perfect enviornment, just fill that place with copious amounts of fog, and BAM, instant Halloween event. ---Brent
Retro_Gaga
From the way there are log flume boats at the bottom of the lift hill and on the course, It looks like the park was shut down fast.
jmicha
^^I know, it just screams Halloween event. If the owner wants to bring in money to help reopen the park, this would be the way to do it. More so than a train ride I'd think.

gisco
I love looking at reports like this. It looks like some of the rides were just turned off and they walked away.

MrMorgan
I'm so glad I read this report! I've been wanting to head over to the Spreepark sight since I moved to Berlin a few years ago. This gives me a good reason, (no more worries about breaking and entering). And I totally agree with: ^It would make the perfect location for an awesome Halloween event. The park looks like if it was fixed up it would have a really cool atmosphere. Leave as many of the trees that have overgrown the place and it could look really cool. Hey, they could make it a permanent Halloween event. I'm sure that could bring in some good money. Unfortunately, Halloween is not a big tradition in Germany. I've lived here for over 11 years and it's one of the American traditions that I miss the most. I've never even been to a "park haunt", (like Fright Nights or HHN). Somehow, I missed that whole trend before I moved, and it didn't really blossom until the last 6 or 7 years, I would say. ANYWAYS, this would be a PERFECT place for a haunt! Maybe I'll head over there today and talk some sense into the owner... Thanks again for the info, video, and pics!
jmicha
^That's really a shame it's not a bigger event in Germany. It's my favorite holiday. It's just pure fun in my opinion. And letting this park end up being used for something other than an epic haunt event would be blasphemy
Lamoure
You're so right !! Halloween isn't that BIG in Germany, but a few Parks really try to be "scary". For example: Europapark really changes his complete themeing !! or Holidaypark have a "Shock-tober-Time", which changes the Haunted house-rides with live actors If you want "American Halloween" go to Ramstein !! It's called "Horror Tent City" and it's kickig:butt: !! I craped my pants ^^ Back to Topic: Spree-Park would really be a great Halloween-Shock-Event It looks so so so scary.. I never knew about the Horror Tent City, but it appears to be very popular. Kind of far away from Berlin, though. I think Haunted Spree Park would be a much better alternative for me
