Given :

The respective ratio of the ages of father to son is 7 : 3 now. 10 years later, the ratio was 2 : 1

Calculations :

Let the age of father and son be 7x and 3x respectively.

Now, their age 10 years later

Father's age 10 years later = 7x + 10

Son's age 10 years later = 3x + 10

According to the question

(7x + 10)/(3x + 10) = 2/1

⇒ x = 10

Son's present age = 3x = 3 × 10

⇒ 30 years

∴ The correct answer is option 1.
