I was at Christmas Town last night, and there's a set of construction walls up where Das Katapault used to be (where the Mach Tower will be located). Freakin' freezing last night, so no Griffon (although all the flats in Oktoberfest and DaVinci's Garden were running, as was the sky ride--roundtrips only starting in England).

^I couldn't see over the wall, but there was a skip loader parked there; so I think Das Katapault has been removed (the park said they were going to relocate it).

For the launch coaster: the name Big Bad Wolf could stay, for nostalgia reasons, even the sign could stay, and the station building if they already haven't torn it down already. The point is old name, new ride.

Something just struck me, a new intamin seat made solely for this ride. Take the formula rossa seats (the thing with the little ear-flaps) then add an intamin OTSR, and finally slice off the shoulder part leaving the lab bar only. Smooth out the rough edges and voilà an intamin launch with the feeling of a lap bar, only much safer than the real thing with the ability to execute inversions and extreme airtime there's that or go with the nearby i 305 solution and add the padded restraints, but kings dominion won't like that idea

This is all that's left of the sign at the park.

 

 

The sign was donated to the roller coaster museum in Texas, along with a train and some track. They are planning to reuse the old Wolf station for the new coaster in 2012.

I personally don't want to see any type of wolf-theming for the new coaster. The original had its heyday and it's gone to the graveyard. They should just start something fresh and new. I know the park stated that the new coaster would in some way pay homage to BBW and that does not mean doing another wolf-themed attraction.

Das Katapult is currently in pieces sitting in the employee parking lot. The queue house floor/deck has been completely destroyed (making me believe the actual covering will be reused) and there is a HUGE hole where Katapult was.

This Month s Issue is about the great developemt of the german Manufacturers (Mack, Gerstlauer and M&S) and the new deals of these manufactors!

 

The last part could be VERY interesting for you guys!

Und die ganz großen Themenparks in den USA sind auch wieder am Start: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay wird im Frühjahr 2011 Cheetah Hunt eröffnen, eine 1350 Meter lange Out&Back Katapultachterbahn von Intamin mit drei LSM-Strecken, Airtime Hügeln, schnellen Richtungswechseln und einem Inversionselement. 2012 folgt der Schwesterpark Busch Gardens Williamsburg mit einem weiteren LSM-Coaster auf dem hügeligen Gelände des früheren Arrow Suspended Coasters Big Bad Wolf, ebenfalls mit mehreren Launch-Abschnitten. Die Achterbahn kommt von einem deutschen Hersteller.

I dont really think there is a big difference in quality between Intamin and Mack ..

 

I really dont understand your reply: IMO the seats arrangments of MACK are way better than any Intamin Coaster out there, and I think if the costumer (BGW) ordered a intense version of the LSM- Mack (not a family coaster like Blue Fire), that could turn out very good!

 

I think it would be awsome to see another company involved in the project than Intamin, i am not in favour of those copy paste things between BGA and BGE (Dive Machine)

That being said, thank you for sharing this information, but I'm inclined to take a "wait and see" approach as to the manufacturer of BGW's 2012 coaster. I have nothing against Mack (Blue Fire looks great) or Intamin (Cheetah Hunt is looking great, too), but let's wait until the park makes a formal announcement before engaging in any speculation.

 

If it does turn out to be an Intamin, I doubt that it would be a "copy paste" job, mainly due to the topography of the the Tampa and Williamsburg parks (both are quite different).

Mack Rides has been a personal favorite of mine, as they made Journey to Atlantis. Mack can make really well themed and thrilling rides, and Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is in the business of maintaining great themed rides. This really explains the massive building in addition to keeping the old Wolf station.

Christmas Town is open all week.

 

Has Griffon even opened at all yet this winter? I know it's cracked the 42 degree mark once the past week or so, and it's only supposed to top 42 once this week (43 on Wednesday).

My understanding is that it was open at least one weekend (when it was rainy and a bit warmer). Just keep checking the temperature, but don't get your hopes up.

I have nothing against Mack (Blue Fire looks great) or Intamin (Cheetah Hunt is looking great, too), but let's wait until the park makes a formal announcement before engaging in any speculation.

 

While I kind of had my heart set on Intamin, something in the vein of Blue Fire would be cool. A lot of the inversions on BF seem similar to what you could get on Alpengeist and Griffon. I wonder if the manufacturer were to be Mack if we'd see a totally different layout from BF.

^Well yeah, considering that the land BBW sat on is much different than that which Blue Fire sits on at Europa. But really, I'd be thrilled with a clone! I'm just excited to have a new reason to get back to BGW!
