Hard to choose between Jack Rabbit at KW and Big Dipper at Gl .. both are great fun rides, then you have the Thunderbolt down the way from Jack Rabbit at KW.

So many choices.

Yep, the Revolution is an ACE Coaster Classic. It has that sign out front. Now why it has the designation when it gave me a headache, don't ask!

But I'd have to say the Jack Rabbit is my favorite from the list.

Revolution isn't a classic, it's a landmark coaster.

Revolution can't be a classic because:

A: No single position lapbar

B: The headrests block view from the other riders behind them

Definition from www.rcdb.com-

ACE Coaster Classic - a coaster meeting the criteria specified by the American Coaster Enthusiasts club. These roller coasters must meet guidelines like single position lap bars, no seat dividers or headrests, and more.

By the way I picked Jack Rabbit.

I'm really not a fan of the ACE definition. There are far more coasters out there I consider a "classic" than a bunch of kiddie woodies. Take Phoenix for example.

And the other thing that seems to make absolutely no sense is how a BRAND NEW coaster like "Triple Hurricane" is already a classic!

Why is that classic? Because it has a certain type of train? Whatever!!!

No one organization is going to tell me what is and isn't a 'classic.' I'll make that decision for myself.

Or how the 1981 Scooby Doo or 1994 Zach's Zoomer are classics, but the Grand National isn't?

Out of that list there are only a handful of IMO are "Classics." The Scenic Railways, Big Dipper, the Kennywood coasters, maybe one or two more. But when 1/2 the list is either kiddie coasters, some of which opened in the last 10 years, that gives the list no credibility at all, IMO.

But whatever, the list can exist, I choose to ignore it and I'll have my own opinion of what I think is or isn't a *cough* "classic" *cough*

I'll be nice, and just say I agree with Robb on this one

The list of "classic" coasters actually makes me angry

no 1924 SCBB Giant Dipper, why, cause of the trains they use, yeah, the dream i never had of becoming an ace member is now even more less likely to happen

^ No Idea. Here is the criteria.

- No Seat Divider

- Single Position Lap Bar (1 per row)

- Wood (Of Course!)

- You can choose your own seat (That would remove a couple of their so-called classics including Jack Rabbit, Waldameer Comet, etc.

They used to require that the ride be manually controlled, but there would hardly be any left if they still required that.

I guess that's why IMO a "criteria" doesn't make sense. If they got rid of the rule then suddenly the Sky Princess would be considered a classic! That's not a classic!!!! That will never be a classic!!!

Now Cyclops on the other hand, while I don't consider that to be a "classic" yet, it certainly has more potential that the stupid Sky Princess!!!

I think what people consider a classic is far too subjective for there to be a set of rules. It's just like what you put on your coaster count, it's really up to you and there is no right or wrong.

I just want everybody to know that I am not an ACER and never will be. I agree with Robb about ace coaster classics. I just posted this topic because I thought it would be an interesting topic. I have not been on any of these coasters. I will also pick which coasters I think are classic. I am no way involved with ACE and I don't like ACE either.

To be honest, there is nothing wrong with ACE if you get something out of the club.

I was a member for about 6 years and it got to the point where I got nothing out of the club. I was having more fun doing trips that I organized (and got more rides by going to parks at smarter times than during most ERT sessions), got more information through the internet than through the club publications, and personally didn't appreciate all the 'politics' that went with being involved with the club. (Remember that we did a lot for the club: videos, articles, photos, etc and ended up getting little to no thanks for any of our work.)

But for those of you who are in the club and get something out of it, that's great! IMO, if you're going to join a club, join ECC.
