Please help with seat size advice.

I've lost 53 pounds since January 1st because of a two-week coaster trip I'm taking. Well the trip begins Friday! Part of my problem is that I'm very proportioned from top to bottom.

 

Last week I visited SFGAm and was able to ride everything except Vertical Velocity. It was close, and if I hadn't panicked a ride-op might have been able to get it buckled. I was able to ride Raging Bull(barely), Batman and Superman.

 

The rides I'm worried about are Firehawk and Diamondback at Kings Island; Raptor and Wicked Twister at Cedar Point; Hydra, Talon, and Possessed at Dorney; and Bizarro and Kingda Ka at SFGAdv. I figure Millennium, Top Thrill, and El Toro are out of the question.

 

I'm also heading to Beech Bend, SFKK, Holiday World, Kennywood, Knoebels, and Dollywood. I haven't heard of any of their rides being too small, but any information would be helpful.

You'll defiantly be safe for Diamondback and Firehawk. My 250lb friend was able to ride both with no problems at all. I'm not to sure about the rest.

Oh yeah, sorry, I'm 6'2", and a 44 inch waist. I'm pretty well proportioned, big chest, 50", and hips, 48".

 

After reading about Superman rides usually being pretty tight, I was surprised at how much room I actually had on that ride. On Raging Bull, Batman, and Iron Wolf I was able to secure myself, which was a first in quite a while.

 

I hope you're right about Diamondback. That's the one ride I really want to get on.

 

Maybe I should try to find some Spanx for men and take myself down a few sizes just for the rides.

with that size you should be able to ride any ride!

I'm 270 pounds and I had no problem on both Firehawk and Diamondback. Diamondback was a little tight but nowhere near painfully tight. The only real trouble I had at Kings Island was Flight Of Fear! I'm 6'3' and almost couldn't get the lap bar over my knees!

 

I couldn't get the seatbelt to connect last year on V2 (SFDK) but I had no problem with Wicked Twister and I went on it right after eating a lot of food at the Midway Market.

 

If I'm bigger than you, you should have no problems in Ohio.

Well, Diamondback has the same restraint style as Raging Bull, Raptor and Talon is the same as Batman, and Hydra and Bizarro is basically the same as that too. Wicked Twister is the same type of restraints as Vertical Velocity.

 

Not sure about the rest because it is all proportions, but those are the rides that you should be good on, based on what you said.

You will have no problems with Kingda Ka or Bizarro. Even if you can't fit in a regular seat on Bizarro, row 5 has larger seat but if you can fit on Batman, you should be able to fit in a regular seat on Bizarro.

 

Kingda Ka is very accomodating, I have never seen anyone turned away.

 

Hydra and Talon also have the larger seats if neccessary in rows 4 and 5.

 

Voodoo might be a tight fit, the ride ops will help you buckle the seatbelt if you can't get it yourself. Do NOT go by the test seat, the belt is way shorter than the actual ride belts. I couldn't get the test seat buckled last year but when I actually tried the ride (with the advice from people on another site to ignore the test seat) I was able to buckle it myself.

Most coasters have a test seat that you can try before you enter the que. I wish more people would use them so they dont waste other peoples time and hold up dispatches. Thats the one thing i like about CP is the op at the entrance will not let bigger guests enter the que without trying the test seat. i spoke to the op on bizarro at SFNE and he told me that they are not allowed to do that which i couldnt understand at all. The one thing i do hate is when the guest is told that they cant ride they get all mad at them and the ride like its their fault.

That brings up a good point. If anyone out there knows of a "magic" seat on a ride (train color/row/ side) please share that information. I'm pretty excited about going with all of the great info from everyone. Thanks!

 

I'm going to have to watch what I eat both the rest fo this week and when the trip starts. That means no massive pig-outs at White Castle. (I'll just eat the White Castle boxes. They have more flavor and are virtually calorie free!) LOL

This is the truth right there. At Cedar Point, my friend failed the Top Thrill and Wicked Twister test seat and fit easily on both.

 

Myself failed the Top Thrill by an inch and needed help with the belt as it was shorter then the test seat. With MF there, I failed by a good 3 inches and on the ride itself, had some 3 inches in slack left when the belt was done.

Thank you to everyone for all the information on coasters; it really helps. However, I forgot to ask about flat rides. I've heard that MaxAir is pretty slim. I know some drop towers can be a little tight sometimes.

 

So, does anyone have advice on flats?

Maxair is the same thing as King's Island's Delirium. My friend that I stated in my first post got on, but he said it was a little tight. Same with Drop Zone. You might also have a tight fit on The Crypt. But for the love of god, don't waste your time with that ride. It's not even close to what it used to be with all the theming removed on the ride. Not to mention it's like 4x shorter.

I wouldn't really call MaxAir slim. Same thing with the S&S towers and flats.

 

Unless you have really big shoulders/upper body, you should be alright with those. MaxAir I can only see being a problem if you have really broad shoulders.
