robbalvey Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hey everyone! Here is some information about our "informal" trip to Shanghai China this year. We say "informal" because this is being limited to a very small group (no more than 30 people) and is being treated more like a 'group of friends' hanging out in China than an official TPR trip. That being said you will still get almost all the same perks you would get on a TPR trip, just on a smaller scale. This trip includes: All ground transportation (Including Airport Transfers), Internal roundtrip flights to/from Shanghai/Chengdu, Admission and rides at Eleven Parks, private coach, personal English speaking guide, eight nights of accommodations in luxury hotels, breakfast every day, some lunch and dinners, culture, Panda Admission, and more! $2075 based on sharing a room, $2795 for private room. Chris Benvenuto Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Robb, if we do want to go on this trip in the fall. When do we have to start getting payments in? Because, I just might do this trip or otherwise if I can't I'll try to get on the Mid-America trip next year. I may've missed the payment information and you have it in your post, but when do we need to start handing them in?
SharkTums Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 This trip is about to be closed out. If you are interested, email me ASAP.
Erik_73 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I've been informed by the construction company that errected most of the Happy Valley Shanghai rides, that the parks will have a soft-opening next friday (august 14th); and the official opening will be september 1st (chinese holiday).
gisco Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Just in time! But what coasters will open with the park?
andyuk200523 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Not a particularily good Geographer, but I hope the current weather in China does not effect your trip guys!
PhantomTech Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 An news article I ran across today. Hopefully the issues will get ironed out before we arrive! THOUSANDS of people have tried to visit the city's new amusement park, Songjiang District's Happy Valley, in the past three days, only to find its opening has been delayed. The park allowed visitors to look around the park but did not operate the rides, reported Oriental Morning Post today. The park was supposed to open last Saturday but it was postponed to this Sunday after the breakdown of its star free-fall roller coaster last Thursday, its first trial with members of the public, leaving visitors stuck midair for several minutes. The park's Website cited Typhoon Morakot as the reason of its delay. Technicians later found the accident was caused by a metal pen cap that fell from a visitor's pocket, which caused a short circuit in the ride's electrical system. The park will not allow the customers to go on the roller coaster with pens, coins or mobiles when it opens on Sunday. The park's landmark wooden roller coaster also stopped seven times. Last Thursday the park only operated a third of its rides, there was strong smell of paint and a sign board fell on three visitors' heads. OCT Enterprises Co, which also operates Happy Valley amusement parks in Chengdu, Beijing and Shenzhen, admitted their chaotic service and vowed to correct them in the eight days to the opening, according to the report. Another http://www.shanghaidaily.com/article/?id=409942# I ran across with a couple of pictures.
Skyscraper Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 ^ Is there any news about the park ? I really want it to be open ! I'm so excited by this China trip ! It's my first trip with themeparkreview and this is all I'm thinking all day long ! Even if it's not open.. I'm sure we we'll have blast Can't wait to meet you guys !!!
SharkTums Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Everything looks really good for BOTH Happy Valley's! China will always have some coasters broken or not running that particular day, but it's just such a great experience, we'll all have a great time no matter what!
montezooma Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I can't wait for this trip! Any TPR trip is great but there is something about the Asian trips that are so quirky! See you guys soon!
Noxegon Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Yeah, my bet is that we miss at least three Golden Horse spinning coasters. And you know what? I don't much care
FlyingScot Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Guys - have a great time - just back and had a good day out. Not quite all open yet, but apparently should be by mid September. Will post all my pics when I work out where to, and how to! This sign sums up my visit...........
Erik_73 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 ^ With Sigh(t)seeing boat the mean the flying island. I heard a rumor that both flying island (Chengdu and Shanghai) have big technical problems.
