I just got back to reinstalling RCT3 and the 2 expansions (not the Platinum version, if this matters). After searching everywhere, I finally found Shy Guy's Main Street set (A must have set in my book). However, RCT3 keeps crashing on me when I expand the Shy Guy set, giving me the pleasant error message "shy-msawning:sid No :svd for :sid"

I've read about Sticking the objects in the RCT folder that doesn't have the ® symbol but still crashes anyway. I'll keep looking around but if anyone has an answer that would be great...I really want to start (restart) my CGA project.

William,

Make sure there isn't a Mian Street Sub Folder within the Main Street Folder....if that makes sense. Sometimes when you extract (and only do an extract, don't copy and paste), a sub folder within the Custom Scenery Folder show up, and messes things up.

You may wantto redownload it from Shyguy's site too. I haven't seen that variation of the svd error before.

The key is that you CANNOT extract directly to the Style/Themed folder. You must extract to a separate location, and then move it into Style/Themed. As was said, somehow subfolders are created. The best, most foolproof solution is to simply extract somewhere and then move.

I'm completely stumped. I've had Mainstreet set in the past and never had issues with it. However, I downloaded it from a page that now no longer exists (which was one of them posted on here way back when, on the RCT3 Sticky thread). At the moment, I have no subfolders, just the following structure: J:\Program Files\Atari\Rollercoaster Tycoon 3\Style\Themed\shy-Main Street Set (all of the .OVL files are in this folder).

Part of me is wondering if the set I did download is jacked up somehow, missing some objects as I'm seeing other error messages, seems to be based on some of the object pieces. Anyone know where I can get this (without constantly running into dead links)?

Did a quick google, came across the RCTDB which gave me a link to Shyguy's site...which appears to be gone. Such a shame.

Update: I found the sets, but set 1 seems to be the culprit. For some reason, though I've deleted the Main Street Set 1 out of the RCT3 folders, that set still 'shows up' in RCT3. The rest of the sets show up and I can use the components from them just fine. Any idea why I can't get rid of Set 1? Ultimately, I want to reload Set 1 that I just downloaded from Shyguy's site.

I've had the same problem before, Angry_Gumball.

All you have to do is switch onto using another browser, for example, Google chrome. It is a reliable source for all Rct related websites.

Hope this helps a bit!!

I've had that happen before too William. I ended up going through all of my RCT3 folders looking for possible rogue files belonging to sets I didn't want anymore.

Sounds like you might have the same issue.

I have started a small park to help me get better at building parks in rct3, but before I go anywhere else I want the Screamin' Swing CFR butI don't know how to get it on rct3, could someone please tell me how to put it on the game?

Posted

When you download a CFR, it's usually in a folder with the creator's name on it.

Take the folder and copy/paste it in the following directory -

C: > Program Files (x86) > Atari > RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 > Style > Custom

If the folder "Custom" doesn't exist, create it in the "Style" directory.

Well, that's the only thing you can do. I don't want to pull a "you're doing it wrong" on you, but if making a Custom folder in the Style directory doesn't put the ride in-game, then, well, "you're doing it wrong".

Just a quick question here...

When filming in RCT3, is there any way once you've filmed to get rid of the icons and banner at the top of the video? I know you can crop it out on pictures, but how do you get rid of it on a video? I've heard of camera sets and stuff for the game that you can use to film that eliminate the icons, but I don't know where they'd be or how effective they are.

Thanks.

David Braben, I think. Might be David Walsh.

David Braben is for launch coasters that use the chain lift or launch out of the station. That's if you want them to get over 55 mph or whatever the limit is....I'll try David Walsh

D LEAN....that opens the Flying Camera thing. Wish me luck...

Although that's not really a RCT III question, I'll answer it anyway:

1.) Read your manual on your computer.

2.) Look for the 'FN' key along the lower side of your keyboard- Press and HOLD that key, then Hit the appropriate 'F' key- and there you go.

3.) READ YOUR COMPUTER'S MANUAL.

How do i post a photo

over 2 kb

You can't. The forum size is 700kb- so anything larger must be re-sized in a photo resizer. You can find these all over the web, and there are quite a few that work very well for photos- and allow you to save them, name them and edit them along the way.

This is the forum where you can get help with RollerCoaster Tycoon 2/3, and NoLimits.

This is not a computer help forum. There's a reason why Google, Bing, et al exist.

Coincidentally, Google developed Picasa. So, you should have no problem finding information.
