Lenaapple1974
Hey! Im not one for creating topics, but I keep on going past the folder of a scan I took of a button - from when I was about 5, at Circus World. You know... the clown painted face picture. Im sure everyone who went there as a kid had one. But that is it. I have nothing else, not even memories! All the pics were somehow lost moving from California to NY. Last night I was going through my aunt's vacation pics from 1985, and they went there also. And in those pictures, were coasters! I didnt think that it was that type of park. So since I have no recollection, I was hoping that everyone can share theirs, and maybe it may jar some deep surpressed memory. What I know, it later became Boardwalk and Baseball, or something like that... This is a little history. http://www.lostparks.com/cwld.html I gotta know more!!! coasters at Circus World? my only Circus World memory
YoshiFan
I went there when it was Boardwalk and Baseball in 1989. I remember going on the Zamperla Dragon coaster and riding the 16 story ferris wheel (which I believe is now at Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, NJ). I also remember the dune buggies kiddie ride and looking at all the baseball exhibits and getting my picture taken in a Phillies jersey and them putting the picture on a baseball card. I remember really liking the park and wish I could have returned for another visit when I was older and ridden the larger coasters.
DBru
Do I see a Half Pipe-type ride in the bottom-left of that last photo?

restoca
Do I see a Half Pipe-type ride in the bottom-left of that last photo? It's a variation of the swinging ship. Half pipe was much later. And that wooden coaster has moved from Florida to Arkansas, and appropriately changing from a hurricane to a twister.
thrillerman1
restoca is correct. It appears to be a Schwarzkopf shuttle boat as seen here in the Schwarzkopf catalog which Shane posted (scroll down almost to the bottom).
WFChris
Im definitely interested in that shuttle coaster in your second picture, couldnt find any info on it in either of the links provided. Anybody have any pictures or info about this model? Is it still operating anywhere? Chris.
astroworldfan1
It was at Flamingo Land. It is no longer operating. RCDB Page -Tatum
larrygator
I visited Circus World also and have foggy memories most of which are spurred by photos that were taken at the time. My sister and I also had our faces painted, but my brother declined. I remember riding the Florida Hurricane and the anticipation after seeing billboards all over Orlando proclaiming it the fastest wooden coaster in the Southeast. I remember riding the shuttle loop and using a whole roll of film trying to catch the train completely upside down. I remember the Big Top and the performers inside. I even remember my siblings and I riding on the back of an elephant. Actually I don't really remember the elephant ride but I have a picture of it somewhere and I know it was from Circus World because all the kids in the pictures have on clown make-up. Lenaapple1974
WOW! Im glad others do remember!!! Too bad they did not have some better stuff. That type of park, if situated a few years later may have taken off and been an Orlando staple park! Im definitely curious as to what was there, and will check out that link posted. Thanks!!! BeemerBoy
^ Actually, I'm not quite sure it would survive in the present time. Something tells me that polar bears jumping through rings of fire wouldn't sit well with the animal rights groups. I remember our one trip to Circus World, and several trips to B&B. The most distinct memory of CW was the "Participation Circus." My uncle was chosen to do the trapeze, and failed miserably. Ahh, good times. I also remember riding the woodie both as the Roaring Tiger, and the Florida Hurricane (two credits?). Wait, and the Double-O/ Flying Daredevil (make that four credits?). Unfortunately I missed out on Wiener Looping. I don't really care for the circus, but I think the B&B theme was a pretty good one. In fact, there's many elements of B&B that seem to have made their way into most all of the current modern baseball stadiums of today. B&B was the first time I remember seeing a public speed pitch set-up, a booth to create your own baseball card, and many other baseball-related midway-type games/attractions. You could even attend the Baseball City Royals Single A baseball games, as well as watch the KC Royals, as it was their spring training home for a while. I kind of miss that place. Oh yeah, I also sadly remember ruining my 1986 Mets World Series hat after it fell off on the log flume. Ahh, not so good times. I don't remember seeing that the first time around.
thrillerman1
^ No problem. Fortunately we have a resident archivist with a big attic now. And the link for those who may have missed the Wiener Looping postcard. Scroll down close to the bottom.
Darksin
If your interested, I have pictures of what was left of Circus World/Boardwalk and Baseball before the land was plowed over and turned into a business complex circa 2004/05. Picture of the Circus Building/Imax theater as well as what was left of the park grounds at that point (which wasn't much but being a geek we called the owner and got in to take a look anyway!). Lenaapple1974
Oh absolutely! That would be great! I love seeing all the old stuff. Even if I can't remember it for myself! Thank you!
runawaytim
I went to Cirus World and Boardwalk and Baseball back in the day. That was the best theme park around with 3 roller coasters and The Florida Hurricane was pretty gnarly. Most of the rides were carnival rides....but it was still lots of fun...better than the local fair. I was really sad when they tore it down and turned it into a field. The Hurricane was my first wooden roller coaster I ever rode.
