Goliath513 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Since I've been home for Christmas break, I have decided to play RCT2 again, since I haven't done so in a while. This park will be a Cedar Fair park (meaning LOTS of trash cans, concrete, and coasters) with a cheesy storyline to go along with it! Rocky Mountain Amusement Park originally opened in 1977 as the Pocatello Waterslides, in Pocatello, Idaho. The park included other non-amusement attractions such as: private group picnic grounds, RV resort and campgrounds, softball fields, horseshoe pits, campground recreation, amphitheater, zip-line, arcade, and more. In 1984, the park was purchased by Cedar Fair and over the past 25 years, most of the original water slides have been removed. In addition, the campgrounds and their amenities were closed down overtime for expansion of the park to make way for coasters, concrete, and of course - trash cans. All that remains today of the pre-Cedar Fair days are 5 water slides. The park will also feature everything that Cedar Fair parks are known for, such as: Flight Deck Drop Tower DiamondBack Blue Streak Fire-*insert animal name here* *insert adjective here*-Hawk Son of *insert coaster name here* Snake River Falls Thunder Canyon Camp Snoopy Steel *insert adjective here* Challenge Park Soak City Relocated rides from Geauga Lake Rides names with no creativity that describe the rides themselves. And more!!! 9.BMP Antique car ride. Since Cedar Point still has three of these types of rides operating, this park will keep theirs. 8.BMP Thunder Canyon was built for a section of the park that the water rides not in Soak City were located. When Firehorse was built, it acted as an almost divider between the main park and Soak City - much like Magnum XL200 at Cedar Point. 7.BMP Firehorse, built in 2003, was Cedar Fair's first B&M hyper. The ride initially included fire effects, but they were turned off several weeks after the ride opened. Firehorse replaced the Whitewater Landing shoot-the-chutes (1992 - 2001), Amphetheatre (1978 - 2001), and a large portion of Soak City (1982 - 2001) 6.BMP More of Diamondback. 5.BMP The Diamondback entrance uses the same logo as the new Diamondback at Kings Island! 4.BMP Diamondback is an 18-year old Arrow custom looper. Located next door to the old Peanuts Playhouse (like the one Knott's just removed), both are rumored to be removed to make way for a major new attraction. Let the fanboy speculation begin... 3.BMP Coasters Drive In, as featured in many Cedar Fair parks such as Knott's, Cedar Point, Dorney, and more! 2.BMP V-Max was brought up from the closed Oakwood Lake resort in California and renamed to Speed Slide. 1.BMP Three of the original slides.
DBru Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Haha, really awesome project. The park itself is great, but the little hints of Cedar Fair humor just make it better...
JuanSe_Colombia Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Nice idea. The park is looking good.
BelgianGuy Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 My god this is awesome! I'm trying to build a descent RCT2 park lately but this is just awesome, I'm still in the building fase and I definatly will be examinating these screens a little closer to get my stuff up to a better level . The only problem I have is that I can't find my screens in vista,
Bob! Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Mmmh awesome work! This park looking very good!
BuschSchoe Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I love that you are including Coaster's Drive In! Its also in Kings Dominion.
Goliath513 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 "We hate history! We hate trees!" What better words to describe this update. Just like at other Cedar Fair parks, old historic rides and trees are removed for modern day attractions. A little bit of background info. In 2002, the park shut down the enclosed Super Chute body slide located on the island in the middle of the Thunder Canyon rapids ride. Super Chute opened in 1978, and was the first body slide to feature a full circle turn around. Over the past years, the already heavily covered in vegetation slide has been overtaken by the land. In 2003, the blue tunnel (longest of the slides in the complex and the only one that did not feature an underground section) of the three Hydro Tube slides was shut down. The Hydro Tubes originally opened in 1979 as large mat slides, but the use of double innertubes replaced the mats as part of the Patriots Plunge makeover in 1991. The reason behind the closures was lack of staffing. I guess CF parks aren't that desirable to work at!? Rumors of restoring and reopening these slides were laid to rest when the park paved over the slides and cleared out all the trees to make way for a generic Proslide 'BehemothBOWL' called Dunk Tank for the 2009 season. SCR7.BMP Also known as "Toilet Bowl: The Ride" SCR5.BMP Although it was pretty obvious to guests about the closure of one of the Hydro Tube slides - many were not even aware of the existence of Super Chute because of how heavily covered in vegetation and hidden it was.
triggernel Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 ^^^Yay for the MN Vikings winning their division today, (sorry the colors kind of reminded me of that.)
R.C. Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I'm loving this so far! Great job on everything, Sam! If the park continues to be as good as it is now, it will be amazing. Cedar Fair bashing is O.K. with me, but stay away from Six Flags... Looking forward to more.
Goliath513 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks for the comments so far guys! More Cedar Fair parodies to come! For this update, we will look at the park's two woodies. The first one, is a remake of the Cedar Point Cyclone (1929 - 1951). The other woodie in the park is the 1993 Intamin self-titled & mirror-image remake of the Coney Island Thunderbolt (10 years after the closure of the original) - which has helped the park maintain its top rating among Cedar Fair woodies in recent years (soon to change, most likely, with the new GCIs at Valleyfair and World's of Fun). Cedar Fair executives are confused as to why Rocky Mountain Park continuously wins the woodies poll when there are bigger Cedar Fair parks with bigger and/or more woodies such as Cedar Point and Kings Dominion. SCR5.BMP Thunderbolt offers redemption to anyone who thought they could never enjoy wooden coasters after riding Mean Streak, Hurler, or Grizzly. SCR3.BMP The Cedar Point Cyclone's double figure-eight layout wraps around the Chaos ride. As for the logo on the building behind the coaster... SCR1.BMP This was the first coaster in the park.
Kingbooba Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 This park is awesome! I don't know if any Wooden coaster could make up for Grizzly or Hurler... take it from someone who's home park has those two coasters! Anyway, I can't wait to see more!
thrillgeek Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I can't get over how awesome your rct story lines are Sam! Keep up the geat work and the CF bashing! I think you should put a wooden 4D coaster with a water splash next.
R.C. Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The wooden coaster look awesome, Sam! I'm looking forward to seeing their entire layouts, but that can wait. I want to see more of the park. Keep up the great work.
Goliath513 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 This update will feature some random rides from around the park. SCR10.BMP Blue Streak is a "Zierer - Tivoli" model relocated from Freizeitpark Kirchhorst in Germany as Marienkäferbahn in 1987. Located in the back of the park in Camp Snoopy, this old coaster (along with the rumored to be removed 1990 Diamond Back) could easily be wiped in one clean cut for the massive coaster being planned for the future. When asked about the future of these old rides, Cedar Fair answered "I don't know, we'll see." SCR9.BMP Continuing the tradition of using second-hand rides, MaXair was relocated from Great Escape in 2007 shortly after being moved from Astroworld as Serial Thriller after it closed in 2005 and replaced 4 of the original waterslides. More classic park attractions - gone. What will be next? Despite not having a "new" coaster since 2003, the park says they have "something BIG" in the works for sometime in the next few years that will make even the most critical fanboys wet themselves! SCR7.BMP The Turbo Racer mat racing slide replaced the two enclosed Jet Stream innertube speed slides in 2006. The area underneath Firehorse in the background was actually a very large portion of the original waterpark that was shut down and demolished in 2001 to make way for the coaster. SCR6.BMP Drop Tower and Flight Deck. Do the names get any more creative than this? Drop Tower was built in 2008. While advertised as "new" it is actually a restored and refurbished "Superman: Tower of Power" brought over from SFKK that they got at a very cheap price from Six Flags after being removed after the 2007 season. While the ride got all new cables and electronics - the tower, cars, and everything else are the original. SCR5.BMP Kinzel Theater was built in 1991 and hosts all kinds of shows such as Snoopy on Ice, and more!
DBru Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Cedar Fair answered "I don't know, we'll see." LOL, classic. Despite being a practical joke, this is actually a really good RCT2 park... Do you have any more 'serious' work I can check out?
thrillgeek Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Sam I'm totally liking the theming on the buildings. Haha classic CF names is right. Can't wait for more!
Goliath513 Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Here's part 2 of the last update. About the new coaster: The Dip N' Dots guy's uncle's sister's son said the park will be "getting Maverick from Cedar Point next year, because Cedar Point is sinking and nobody goes there." SCR11.BMP Time Warp (Chance - Double Inverter) was brought over from Geauga Lake for the 2009 season. Yo-Yo (Chance - Yo-Yo) [not pictured] was also moved from Geauga Lake for the kids' section near the Windjammer Food Court. The park also got the urinals from Geauga Lake's bathrooms for the new for 2009 bathroom (to be shown in next update)! SCR10.BMP Son of Firehorse (Alan Herschell) was relocated from Old Indiana as "Little Rickies Little Twister" in 2004 for all those kids who are not tall enough to ride Firehorse. SCR9.BMP Royal Caribbean cruise ships are not the only places where you can find a meal full of headbanging! SCR8.BMP Following the success of White Water Landing at Cedar Point, Cedar Fair decided to build another Arrow "hydro flume" a few years later called Snake River Falls.
R.C. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I love the log flume. That whole area looks so awesome! I think the "Dip N' Dots guy's uncle's sister's son" is 100% right. Doesn't everyone believe the Dip N' Dots guy. The rest of the screens look good. Looking forward to more.
raptor2011 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 You're park is amazing but I'm biting my tongue on the Cedar Fair and a little Cedar Point bashing. But anyways great park!
thrillgeek Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ^Umm....dude he loves CP. That's why he is aloud to bash it. It's all in the fun of making the park. Sam I know I didn't explain that very good but hey there you go. Anyway....As always your creativity amazes me. I wish I was half as patient and artistic as you. Keep up the great work dude!
Vffreak07 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Looks really awesome & realistic, yet still has that humorous atmosphere.
