thrillrideseeker Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 Today the park released new information about the new coaster going up which has been given the name “Project Kali!” The parks CEO said “Now that construction is well underway we are pleased to announce new information about Kali. Kali is what coaster enthusiast call a Strata-coaster. Kali will tower more than 480ft above the spectators below, and it will reach speeds in excess of 120mph! While not breaking the speed record, it will break the height record, and we are sure that no one will leave this ride disappointed.” Well guys I hope you enjoy this update!!~Matthew One last shot for you guys!! That is one massive tower!! I have a feeling this will become a must have shot! A view from the Ferris Wheel! Looking down the launch track! This would be the coasters "Catch Car!"
themeparkman25 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 does it 270 spiral on the way down? I cant really tell from the pics, looks like a sweet ride though!!!
thrillrideseeker Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 does it 270 spiral on the way down? I cant really tell from the pics, looks like a sweet ride though!!! It actually does not do a 270* spiral on the way down! I wanted something different from Dragster and Ka!~Matthew
triggernel Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 So it will be like Ka and Dragster, with some actual awesomeness after the drop? Sweet
thrillrideseeker Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 So I know it has been a while since an update, but I have been pretty busy with moving, and working! But here is some information from the park its self! Much progress has been made on Project Kali. A lot of supports are being constructed, as well as more que rails going into their places. Work has also began on the audio aspects of the ride, everything for the autospiels to the onboard audio has to be timed just right before media day. A few days ago we got a shipment of track. It turns out the track that was removed from Maverick fit great in to this ride so Intamin re-painted it and sent it our way. The track has been installed, and we believe that this element will through in one last surprise for all the guest who are riding the ride! Here are a few pictures of what has been going on at the ride! Enjoy!~Matthew More work is being done with all the scenery around the ride! Here is the section of track that came from Maverick, and as you can see it fits really well with this coaster! As you can see many handrails have been installed, and many more still need to be installed.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 This coaster looks like it will be awesome. Keep up the good work!
thrillrideseeker Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 So I know it has been a while since there was an update, but this project is turning out to be much larger than I planned. This audio stuff is really complicated as well. So here is a small preview of the audio that guest will hear while waiting on Kali's platform! Let me know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRgtw5ER9dg&feature=channel_page ~Matthew
themeparkman25 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Sounds like a robot! Ride looks great though and its only the top hat in the video! When is the release?!
thrillrideseeker Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Sounds like a robot! Ride looks great though and its only the top hat in the video! When is the release?! The release is suppose to be in early May, but it is an Intamin so who knows!! ~Matthew
Xpress Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Eh, the tophat looks too straight to be realistic. Might also want to make sure it's heartlined, and has a very parabolic top like Intamin is famous for.
themeparkman25 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 The tophat is not a normal tophat though, it does not spiral 270 down. It just does 90 up and 90 down, which is why I think it probably looks a little different.
thrillrideseeker Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 So I know it has been forever since I updated this but it has been a lot of work, and most of it is work on supports, and that is not something that is to fun to post pictures of! Anyways testing has started so I thought I would post a few pictures for you guys! I know they had the camera set up to make a POV but the ride kept rolling back. Maybe the park will be nice and let out one of those rollback POV's! Keep your fingers crossed, and check back soon! Enjoy! ~Matthew
dr.gumbo Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Looks great as always, when can we expect it to be released?
thrillrideseeker Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Looks great as always, when can we expect it to be released? Like I said before... We were hoping for May of 2009, but it is an Intamin so it is looking like the release date is going to be a little later. It SHOULD be done no later than July!~Matthew
themeparkman25 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Can I ask what else there is to do that still requires a month and a half of work?
thrillrideseeker Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Can I ask what else there is to do that still requires a month and a half of work? There is still a lot of work to be done on the supports, as well as the scenery. UPDATE Alright guys, a lot of work has been done on Kali, but instead of boring you with more pictures I have a video of the ride testing! No full POV yet, but you will enjoy! There is much left to be done but should still be released soon! Enjoy! ~Matthew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMsJK8ro1OA
haux Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Are you going to heartline the twists on the way up and down the top hat? That brake run immediately after the top hat looks like it'll completely kill the ride's momentum. Is it a block? I hope it's 200 feet long so riders aren't slammed into it or stopped in too short a stretch.

The brake run is a block, and it actually is a little over 200 ft long!! Its also 160 ft high, so it produces enough speed for the rest of the ride!~Matthew
themeparkman25 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 ^I am not sure about this, but I think most people use a third party program called Automatic Heartline Generator (AHG) to heartline their stuff. An entire list of tools to use for NL can be found here.
Real Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Just make sure your top hat isnt perfectly vertical. AHG cant heartline vertical track. Gotta be at like a 89.5 degree angle or less.
