Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 Everybody...EVERYBODY, except Kobe, Pau, and Derek is expendable at this point, so please Jim Buss, get over your man crush with Andrew Bynum and put together a "big three" here in L.A. Trade forDwight Howard
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Hmm...I really would love to see basketball this year, but in the same token, I don't think the league should have a hard cap...It's easier to sell professional basketball in a town like Los Angeles or New York, than it is in a town like Oklahoma City or Denver. I'd say the best way to look it is, to run a sucessful franchise in the NBA, you'd have to charge what L.A. or New York or Chicago charges for that product. That in turn, if the money generated is allocated properly, will enhance that product. Can you charge fans in Milwaukee what fans in L.A. pay for Lakers tickets? You could, but you wouldn't get too many sell-outs. I say if a team is in a town that it isn't profitable, it shouldn't be there. I would imagine the OKC Thunder generated more revenue in Seattle. (This is clearly a speculatory example) If The SuperSonics made a profit, move to OKC due to the owner not getting his way wanting the city to build a new stadium, and ends up taking a loss in the move, why should the difference be made through the players? I'll be watching this very closely... we'll see what happens.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 ^In three years, that may not be a joke...
DevilSaint Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 ^In three years, that may not be a joke... Â Not even three years. If they lose a whole season, they are never getting back a big majority of their fans. To deprive fans of a league that is at it's highest level since Jordan with the momentum coming off of last season is a crime.
BeemerBoy Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 ^ Meh, MLB managed to survive their 1994 debacle. People are fickle and stupid. When it comes to pro sports, as long as you have a good TV contract (Hi, NHL....how's it going?) the sheep will flock back soon enough. Â I seriously doubt a whole season will be lost. And if it is? Wake me up when they start playing again. I've got too many other things to be concerned with.
gisco Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I'm not sad that there is no basketball. The season is way to long in my opinion. The need to shave a couple of months off of it and start playing when football is winding down.
Jew Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) ^ Meh, MLB managed to survive their 1994 debacle. People are fickle and stupid. Wake me up when they start playing again. I've got too many other things to be concerned with.  IMO, the NBA has more to lose because they are already near the peak of their popularity. With all the talent from around the world, the compelling story lines (Miami Heat vs. the world), and basketball becoming a global sport...the NBA doesn't really have a "lightning rod" like MLB had with steroids...err, I mean the home run race to serve as the foundation for rebuilding the brand.  Plus, as silly as it is, with the economy the way it is...it's insulting to the fans. That hurts the brand too. At least w/ the NFL we all knew a deal would get done. The NBA lockout just seems like a bunch of rich people bickering where the only people who truly get screwed are the fans and local economies effected by less events at the arenas! Bolliger&Mabillard Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 All I'm saying is, won't somebody please think of Latrell Sprewell's kids?!?! They can't eat off 5 million a year...
mcjaco Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I'm with Joey on this one. Really, you can't meet at a 50/50 split? Good grief, hao many tats, cars with dueces, and bottles of Cristal do you need? Â If the WNBA was smart, they'd start up ASAP the longer these idiots keep arguing.
gisco Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If it was lingerie basketball I bet Matt would watch!
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 ^You'd have to replace alot (and I mean alot) of the current WNBA roster to pull off lingerie basketball. Most of the current women playing in the WNBA would look like Tyrone Hill wearing lace panties
mcjaco Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If it was lingerie basketball I bet Matt would watch! Â Bob, I have a business proposition for you.
DiSab Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I mean, they have the Lingerie Football League, why not the Lingerie Basketball League?
Moose Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 ^ I so wish the nfl played as scantily clad as the Lingerie Football League... Jock league mmmm   I don't feel an ounce of remorse for the players or owners. I feel badly for the support people, like the folks who work at the venues, bars that will have less people go to them etc. The players and owners are already filthy rich and squabbling over how many millions they are going to make, while these workers are probably going from minimum wage pay check to paycheck.
gisco Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 ^I'm with you Jon, screw the players and owners. It's the support people and fans that are the big losers.

Real Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I loved listening to Carmelo talk about how they are battling for the guys who dont make a lot of money. Or in his case, the players who make MAX. Really? You are fighting for them? No, youre fighting for your future even though just ONE contract @ max is enough to sustain multiple families for the rest of their lives. Â Â Lockouts in general are a joke. Im glad the NFL had some sense and realized "Basically any deal is good here" but the NBA, once again is showing their greed and idiocy. Canceling games and the players are looking like jack asses. Â I dont think the players realize what the owners sank into them. Taking chances with basketball teams and then striking it rich DOES entitle the owner to being RICH. Just like a successful business entreprenour who nails a great idea and makes a bunch of money. Players need to realize without any owners there is no basketball.
DiSab Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 http://lingeriebasketball.com/ Â Am I the only one who finds it awkward that they play the games in middle-school gyms?

Bolliger&Mabillard Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 It's back on folks! And rumors are floating around that Dwight Howard is coming to L.A.....but will be looking more patriotic than royal...
Jew Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Lakers need CP3 and/or Howard. The new luxury tax rules are going to make it impossible for them to keep the current team together in 3 years.
