robbalvey
Hey everyone! Now that the new TPR DVDs have shipped this past weekend I figure most people will start to get them today or tomorrow. In the past people have posted Photo TR's of getting their TPR DVDs, reviews of what you think, etc, etc... I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback, questions, comments, etc, on this round of DVDs! --Robb
JimmyBo
Just watched Disc 1 for both RAW 2 and Japan-A-Mania 2! The second discs didn't work in my DVD player but I have a back-up plan by going to my friends house tomorrow to watch them because his DVD player is better than mine. First off, Japan-A-Mania 2 was freakin hilarious. Honestly, I don't think I've laughed as hard as I did since seeing the Midwest DVD. Everyone on that trip seemed to have something funny to say in the DVD or at least punch Ryan in the cock (still my favorite segment). Tom eating crap over the fence in the parking lot will never get old. This DVD really brings out what Japan has to offer and from the looks of it Japan seems like a place I really want to travel to. Japan-A-Mania 2 really delivers the hilarious atmosphere when Theme Park Review visits theme parks anywhere in the world. That being said...go punch Ryan in the cock. RAW 2...I was only able to watch Disc 1, which was the woodies, and I must say that I am really becoming a fan of the unedited, no music videos you guys create. It was great to see woodies from the first TPR England trip and some as recent as the Korea trip. These POV's really bring out what it could feel like being on a coaster. Sure, a video never does a coaster justice but I think you guys definitely made me think of traveling places to ride some of these rides featured in RAW 2. Keep it up Robb and Elissa! robbalvey
^ Hmm...that's very strange about the disc 2's since they are processed just like the Disc 1's...Let me know if you need me to send out some replacements... --Robb
JimmyBo
^Don't worry about it Robb, it happened on the previous order I made with the first discs working fine but then the second ones not working. I think it's just my DVD player since it is getting up there in years. The DVD's play just fine on my computer and my friends DVD player. I just think my DVD player decides to go EMO every now and then just to piss me off. Great DVD's though Jimmy "Can't spell tonight" Bo
Jayjay719
I plan on ordering them as soon as I get the money. Since the other DVDs are great I bet these are too!

Sometimes it'll play Robb's DVDs up to a point, then glitch out like mad (the DVDs play just fine on my computer). Other times it can't even read them (even disks it's played before); this happened to my copy of Evil Dead (worked last year, but not this year). Time to upgrade, I guess. coasterdude5
My TPR package came via meteor today! So far I've only watched half of Roller Coasters: In The Raw Volume 2 so I'll post a formal review later. Here's what all was in it: (the magnet's already on the fridge... right next to my A+ in life) I miss the handwriting because I felt like I was getting an autograph from a famous person, except they were writing my name. This way's cool, too, though!

Not For Sale
Hello, friends of TPR. How are you this evening? Have you checked the mail to see if your DVDs have come in the mail? Oh, you say you haven't ordered them yet. Interesting. You have me confused, because you're reading my review, and you know I'm going to have nothing but praise for the new TPR releases. You're still reading this, aren't you? Oh well. Theme Park Review Coaster Expedition Volume 11: Japan-A-Mania Two (TPRCEVXI:JAMII) My first TPR DVD was the first Japan-A-Mania. It was pure awesome. This is an improvement. Robb and Elissa have gotten crazy good at this. Notably, the editing has gotten significantly better. I'm not saying it was bad, it was just very sharp this time. If you guys enjoy TPR, and you wouldn't be reading this if you don't, you need these DVDs. It puts the energy of a TPR trip inside of your living room. All of the idiocy of TPR on 2 discs, and only $10! I'd like to also make a note of the 2nd disk--the ride footage. There's some crazy dark ride ridethroughs that I loved. They're absolute insanity. Theme Park Review Presents Roller Coasters in the Raw Volume 2 (TPRPRRCitRVII) Okay, I have to admit I was skeptical of this DVD set and I haven't seen the 1st one. I'm just not that into POVs and plain coaster footage. It's not my thing, I prefer the antics. But if you like POV footage and some super rare shots of some amazing coasters, this is your DVD. You can't get any better than this. It's like the TPR DVDs without all the R! So, if you only have enough money for 1 DVD set, go for Japan-A-Mania, but Coasters in the Raw is not one to be trifled with. Do yourself a favor, go for both. dandaman
Robb, ever think of placing a TPR-brand Kleenex/lotion combo in any RAW package in place of the mints/lipbalm/what-have-you? coasterdude5
Here's my review of the DVDs. You can read the full review here. Coaster Expedition Volume 11 Japan-a-Mania 2 The first Theme Park Review DVD that I purchased was Japan-a-Mania Volume 1. I was a little worried that this one wouldn't be as good as the first. I mean come on, Japan's not that big of a country. What all could change in a few years? However by the time I saw the first video, I could tell this video was going to be even better than the first. Robb and Elissa and their gang don't just "go" to a theme park with their camera, they go INSIDE a park and find all of the cool stuff you'd never even think of looking for. And what better place to look for weird cool stuff than Japan? You want more than coasters? Japan-a-Mania 2 has all this weird quirky stuff and more. Even though the smaller, lesser-known parks are great, the two park videos that always blow me away are Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan. After watching the Tokyo Disney Resort video, I felt like I had actually taken a short trip there. That's how well these folks document the parks. However, don't think you're going to get that crummy stail Travel Channel feel, because you're not. A Coaster Expedition DVD is a DVD like no other. I highly recommend it. If you love Theme Park Review, then you will love this DVD. Roller Coasters In the Raw Volume 2 I hadn't paid much attention to what people thought about the first edition of Roller Coasters In the Raw. I thought, "Hey, I can watch videos of these rides anywhere!" Wrong. These videos are so professionally done that if I hadn't known it was Theme Park Review, I would have thought that these videos were videos that a park had released or even something that was on Travel Channel. If you want the coasters and only the coasters, this is the DVD for you. You got the quality of the Travel Channel without the annoying commentary! What more could you ask for? My favorite videos from the DVD are Mystery Mine, Silver Star, and Collosos, but all of them are really great videos. Roller Coasters In the Raw makes a great gift for a coaster lover who might not be familiar with the Theme Park Review antics.
monsterfan99
Got my DVD's in the mail last week and just finished all but the last half of disk 1 of In the Raw 2. I had never ordered a TPR DVD (never even knew of the site until this year actually) and decided to go with In the Raw 1 and 2 along with Coaster Expedition volume 4. My thoughts on In the Raw 2 are very positive. The few rides I've been on that are on the DVD's (1 and 2) were nearly dead on. I also liked the footage before and after the rides. Gave a greater sense of the ride. I only had 2 ideas for improvement. The first is to include full life hill footage of all the rides. This is not a problem really, but helps with the feel of being there. The second has to do with the info page for each ride. My advice would be to put the little extra info that is on some rides on all of them. I had someone over to watch the Steel disk of Volume 2 and they really found it interesting. It helped them appreciate each ride instead of them being "just another roller coaster." Over all, the products are outstanding. The free TPR pen was great too. In me, you have a future buyer of every volume of In the Raw for sure and probably all the expedition ones as well.
robbalvey
The first is to include full life hill footage of all the rides. The Roller Coasters in the RAW footage DOES include the full lift hill footage when we have it. Out of the 60 roller coasters that are on both DVDs I can only think of 2 or 3 that didn't have the full lift hill because we didn't have the footage available to us. Is there more than 2 or 3? I can't imagine there being more than 5 of them that don't include the full lift hill. --Robb

coasterdude5
I like when videos show the full lift hill. It sorta builds me up for the rest of the ride, even though I'm not really riding it.

And on RAW 2 I think the *only* footage that wasn't shot by TPR was Raven, Fahrenheit, and Nitro and I'm pretty sure we had lift hill footage for Nitro and Fahrenheit. I still would have to go back and look because I don't remember off hand, but I really think we have complete lift hills for just about every coaster on those DVDs. It's one of the things that people have specifically requested so we made sure that if we had the lift hill we included it! --Robb "I think Holiday World needs TPR to come update their Raven B-Roll footage!" I am used to feedback going into the abyss and never seeing the light of day. It is nice to see people still care about those that enjoy their products. Oh, I absolutely want to know everyone's thoughts and feedback! It's why I posted this thread. IMO, we make the DVDs for you guys so the only way we can try to make them better is by all of you telling what you like, so we can keep doing more of it, or tell us what you'd like to see changed, so we can figure out if that's possible. --Robb "Keep the comments coming!" thrillgeek
Ok, so I got home Monday night from a long day at work. I was so exhausted that I was just going to go sleep and it was only 8:30. Than my mom tells me that I got mail. I rushed into the living room to find my TPR order sitting on the ground. I was so excited! I watched all of Coaster Expedition Volume 10 last night and loved every minute of it. I'm only half way through CD one of Coasters In The Raw 2 because I need to work today. After I watch all of it I will write a review of it. I love my TPR shirt that I ordered. It fits great by the way Robb! Oh and the ornaments are very stylish on our tree. I'll get some pics of them on the tree later. Thank's Robb, Elissa, and everyone else who was in the dvd's I ordered. All of your craziness and randomness make my life complete. I can't thank you enough! Here's all that I ordered!! Me and my DVD's!
