^To add to what TPDave said, these guys are smart.

They told us they bought three different rides over the last two years from three different manufacturers to see what each was like. They are not very experienced in park stuff so this seemed like a good idea. They bought a coaster from Vekoma (jr. slc in training), S&S (Tranan), and Intamin (Insane).

Then they said they would see what was popular with their guests, ops, and maintenance personnel and buy from that company again.

The Gronalund guys were awesome. I told them to get a Balder style coaster (but I would tell any park that, hell I'd tell Legoland or Sesame Place that), and I think they might consider that if they had the space.

I'm still amazed they reconstructed the first drop on their schwarzkopf to make it steeper and longer, so it was more exciting.

^Thanks for the info.

Congrats to Grona Lund! I was really doubting that they would get the approval, but I am very glad that they did.

Yeah, I decided to do one support column at an angle but the same width apart, and the other support column vertical but at a smaller width at the top. It didn't take too long actually, just a few hours.

The original plan was to do a 60 meter high roller coaster but it seems like that plan is scrapped since it would disturb the residents living near grona lund and change the "look" of Djurgården(where grona lund is located) too much. Also the CEO says they havent decided on what coaster to do yet. Very exiting anyway!

I also wonder who would dare to go on that ~300 feet Starflyer, too lame for teens and too high for kids, doesn't appeal to anyone. Give us a S&S Swing instead, those are awsome!

I think that a really high Starflyer is an excellent idea. I tried the one at Tivoli in Copenhagen this summer (with my 8 year old daughter who really loved it) and it was great. And the fact that it fits in almost no space at all makes it very suitable for the new expansion of Gröna Lund. Like in Copenhagen, you can have the boarding platform built on top of other things (even smaller rides) and the fact that it doesn't start to rotate until you are high in the air allows you to build it very close to the new coaster.

A S&S Swing would require more space, and wouldn't fit in unless you could build it right by the water (but I think there will be a public walkway by the water, not being a part of the park).

When it comes to the coaster, my guess is that it will be something similar to Piraten at Djurs Sommerland, just slightly bigger.

I have now read all the documents and it seems like that public walkway is going to be scraped, good news imo. And yes a "big" mega lite would be perfect, just watch out for those cables!
