Well most of you should know the story by now. I just was curious to what are your ideas about it. IMHO, I really don't know. I'm border line. However, some people are calling the suspect a hero? I'm 100% against that. I will always be on the law's side of these types of issues even when questioning them. I think that the officers involved were under extreme pressure, but I'm not sure if shooting back when he had the toddler with him was a good idea.

I think this sentance says it all right there: "held her as a shield during a gun battle with police..."

Perhaps her father shouldn't have been doing whatever it was that caused a gun battle with the police?

Sad? Of course. But isn't all crime in the world?

As far as I'm concerned the father killed the baby. No matter what bullet killed the baby, the child would be alive if the father wasn't such an ass hole.

I can't believe the people protesting this. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach.

I had not heard this story before seeing it here. First of all, it is totally the fault of the gunman that the child was killed, as he's the one that was shooting at the police, and the one that attempted to use the child as a human shield. And I really get irritated whenever someone "protests" someone getting shot by police after they initiate a gun battle. Why should the police not protect themselves? This just really annoys me...

I voted that they should have waited.

I can recognize that the officers were under pressure and all, but if I saw the guy holding up his baby I would hold back from shooting. The baby didn't deserve to die just because the father was an ass.

what kind of a father holds up his daughter againts a buNch of bullets to proctect himself.....

the father was a SH!T FACE COCKMASTER

You hit the nail right on the head. This goes along the lines of "suicide-by-cop", where someone forces the police to shoot-to-kill.

I just wish the police had better aim...I understand that they really didn't have a choice...no sane person would shoot at the guy holding a toddler unless they weren't in imminent danger...or the man was holding the gun to the toddlers head. This is really sad...but the police are not at fault!

What kind of a dumbass holds his child up as a shield when he's being shot at by police?

In my opinion, this guy got his daughter killed. I'm tired of everyone blaming the police for everything. We have police because we have crime. And we have crime because of human junk like this guy.

The fed's killed some more innocent people, woohoo, whats new. Let's talk about bigger incidents, waco, ruby ridge, no?

This is the second instance of me being annoyed at you for downplaying things, how would you like it if that was your father?

Posted

And how would you like it if your entire family was mired on your ranch, with no probably cause? Ruby Ridge was a gore-fest, and this is just a mere mistake, it just reminds me of the two incedents (waco and RR). Between tanks shooting fire into a compound, and FBI sharpshooters sniping out a woman with a baby in her arms, I don't know what to make of it, you decide. After all, that's what people need to do, decide for themeselves, but they are constantly handed other views to help them deal with the fact that they do not know why they are here, and where they are going.

"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities---the political, the religious, the educational authorities---who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing---forming in our minds---their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself." - The great Timothy Leary.

Ruby Ridge is old (terrible) news. It's like crying over the Titanic, and has become a form of a cliche...not being over used... just losing most of its power to be used as a good example.

He didn't appear in court. He was as good as guilty then, even though he wasn't. Guilty until proven innocent.

What's with all the 12-16 year olds using so much profanity??? I don't get it. But anyway back to the topic I think that maybe the father had a serious mental issue thus explaining why he would be so careless to use his child as a shield. If that's not the case then the father was definitely being selfish and stupid but doing what he did. And! he'll have a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg time to think about what he did in jail..... unless he claims insanity... then he'll be out in 5-7 years

OHHHH and question Maynard_Hicks, why don't you like the FBI??

Lets try to keep this forum peaceful. I think that this is a topic that people want to talk about and I really don't want it to get locked.

Lets keep one thing clear.

This father murdered his own daughter.

You will always have certain groups of people who HATE the Police, and will use any incident (No matter how tragic) to back their beliefs.

I don't doubt that the mother is grief stricken by the shock and sudden loss of her child. But like many people who experience a loss, the first thing they often want to do is blame someone else, other than those who are so clearly responsible---the father in this case.

Would it have been better if a SWAT (Sniper) officer had taken him out? Of course, but obviously that option didn't materialize.

This guy was firing his gun at the police, one of which he actually hit!!! Not to mention that any of his other random gun shots could have hit other innocent bystanders.

Sadly the very next day you see the mother standing before the TV cameras, next to her ambulance chaser (Attorney) saying how she wants justice$$$

In the end the person who is truely responsible for the things that happened that day is the one who set the series of tragic events in motion--the father.

Man, any situation like that sucks. I've had guns pointed at me, and never did it cross my mind to grab another human for a shield. Never.

What would i do if i were the cops?

I have no clue. I wouldn'tknow unless i were in that situation. I hope i never am.
