dr.gumbo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Looks good so far, however I'm going to be away when you release it for a week so I'll probably miss it. Best of luck though.
rollerboy Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 Thanks, I have changed the supports on the zero g roll so there more realistic. Thanks again, Jordan.
jarmor Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 EEEEEEEEKKKKKKK Pre fab supports!!!!! **faints**
jason10 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 ^ HAHA! From what I an see, it look pretty good for a second coaster. I suggest you play around with cutstom supports and see what you can do.
DBru Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (I'm going to let someone else deal with him, because I have had it! )
rollerboy Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Jason, I am going to start trying to do customs for my third coaster. DBru, are you referring to me or Jarmor? The dates getting closer, I am just doing minor work on the coaster at the moment. Thanks, Jordan.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Jason, I am going to start trying to do customs for my third coaster. Liseberg4ever- Thank you for that! DBru, are you referring to me or Jarmor? The dates getting closer, I am just doing minor work on the coaster at the moment. Thanks, Jordan. ok, so, I really like the coaster so far, it looks really cool. As far as what I've quoted above: -Jarmor was just joking because custom supports always look better than the prefab (most of the time) -Liseberg4ever is being rude to jarmor for some strange reason. -DBru is referring to Liseberg4ever because he says this type of thing all the time. But the coaster looks good
mcjaco Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 EEEEEEEEKKKKKKK Pre fab supports!!!!! **faints** Just shut up jarmor! is only he's second coaster! >_> Yeah, dude. Totally not necessary. Keep it up and the Bantron will be fed.
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I hate the bantron lol, It seems to be getting me alot lately......... Coaster's looking good so far! Will definately check it out when it's released!
rollerboy Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, just a quick word of warning; don't expect anything like Loefet's! This is only my second coaster. Jordan.
jarmor Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 yeah jordan, I was just poking fun lol! as you start making more coaster you will see the major difference with using pre-fabs vs. custom lol. While I never write off pre fabs because some times it will do exctly what a custom support can do , custome supports can be more visual pleasing. Anyway looking good for your second coaster and love the drop under the brakes.
rollerboy Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 ^ I am going to start trying to make customs on my next coaster, I think I am going to go for a B&M Invert. I was thinking maybe go half custom half pre-fabs or is that one thing you shouldn't do? Thank you for your kind words about the final drop under the brake run, that means a lot to me coming for someone who makes great coasters!(River Runner ) Thanks again, Jordan.
jarmor Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 you know what lol you can virtually get away with all pre-fabs on an inverted coaster because most inverted coasters have the same style supports. Nothing gets too funky on inverts.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 ^^ Also, custom supports on an invert are actually more time consuming than a normal coaster. The support itself has more angles in it, which equals more nodes.
rollerboy Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 Ok maybe I will just stick to pre-fabs. The date is getting closer! I am still working a little bit on the coaster. I have taken a POV, does anyone know the maximum size I can post in here? Jordan.
DBru Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 DBru, are you referring to me or Jarmor? Neither. I'm on good terms with both of you guys! lol
rollerboy Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 The day is upon us! The time has come to release, Area 51. Please don't hesitate to tell me where I am going wrong, thats the best form of learning. There is a lateral G spike on the zero g roll and I am not sure how to get rid of it. Please leave a comment, rate etc. Jordan. Project Area 51.nltrack Remeber, its only my second coaster!
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 The day is upon us!The time has come to release, Area 51. Please don't hesitate to tell me where I am going wrong, thats the best form of learning. There is a lateral G spike on the zero g roll and I am not sure how to get rid of it. Please leave a comment, rate etc. Jordan. I'll take that as permission to nit-pick. Since this was your second ride, there are a few n00bish mistakes. Your ride was unrealistically built, it didn't seem to follow any sort of style. Your trackwork was bumpy The Zero-G had a lateral spike in it as you mentioned (which could have been fixed by either making the roll higher so the train goes through the element slower, or having a higher banking at the end of it so the train doesn't snap rotationally.) Your midcourse was pointless. You had a drop and a turn after it, not much to warrant a midcourse. Also, since you were intent on running 3 trains, you should have at least 2 brake sections before the station, one for each train. 3, so one can slow down the train and 2 can hold them outside the station is Ideal. Your station was about twice as long as it should have been Your brake section was too short, and shouldn't have had tires on it. The train stopped only a matter of about 2 feet from the station, and at the speed the train entered the brake run, it would have shredded the drive tires. A simple brake only segment on a slight downward slope would have sufficed. The same goes for your midcourse. Sorry about that, but you wanted everywhere you went wrong, so that is what I gave you! Don't let the problems discourage you though, you'll get it soon enough!
rollerboy Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Ok, I have taken everything into account. I am going to use everything you said and try to make my coaster better. Thank you. As for the track being bumpy, I have no idea how to make it smooth. Any tips? Thanks again, Jordan.
dr.gumbo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Here's my advice: Reducing pumps (jerks) - Increase the size of the vertex points but not to the point where its too big (it makes matters worse). Ride the ride and see wether they need to be bigger or smaller. Also, keep each section to a similar length (20ft is a good one) so you can use the smoother (ctrl+g) effectively.
rollerboy Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Thanks dr.gumbo, I am going to do everything everybody has said so far and see how it goes. Keep the comments coming!
