spaceace12 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Rides ridden: All the coasters S:TOP Got to the park about 9:30 and waited in line.As soon as the gates opened went straight to the side where Batman was and waited till security let us through. Rode Batman first, nice and smooth like it was last year. All the coasters were running as good as last year or better except one. Ninja was horrible, jerky and rough, allot worse then last year. Then the shocker, I rode Boss. Last year when I rode it, it messed my back up for a day or two. They retracked portions and let me tell you, it did wonders. It still isn’t smooth by any means, but it is allot better than last year. I walked over to see Evel Kinevil construction progress, while it has quite a bit of work to do, I am in love with it and can’t wait for June 20th. I hope to have a new number one coaster by then, or atleast a new number one wooden coaster, I might have a new number one steel by then. That all depends on how Cedar Point goes during Coaster Mania. While on coasters, I know all but Tony Hawke's Big Spin broke down yesterday. I was on Boss when the computer controls stopped us on the MCBR. The register inside Mooseburger Lodge was down, also. Then the trains wheels were noisy as can be, but with all that said, it was opening day. Overall the park was in great shape. I spent allot of time just walking around for videos and pictures. This park is one of those you just have to look at all the little things like little ponds with streams going to other little ponds and things like that. Anyway, onto the pictures. Some where not taken by me, so they maybe crooked. Also, by weeks end, I hope to have a video done. Just waiting on software now. More EK relocated kiddie carousel Shaggy's ready to ride. THBS Foghorn leghorn looks harmless. whats up doc? Wooden bell owww Ruh roh, No Scooby Snacks, I will just break coasters down randomly. Soaking rapids rides, but I haven't ridden it yet. Being soaked and 62 degrees doesn't sound like fun. Nice rock and water feature. No divider and single buzz bar, this sounds allot funner than the current configuration. part old Eagle train, There is a coaster in there somewhere. The much improved Boss Freeze Everyone wave at the people on the train. for all you lift hill people Can you see the airtime? Freeze again. Farris Wheel, name escapes me for the moment. Hurricane Harbor looks ready to go. Rush Street Flyer S:TOP Freeze, through the forrest Through the trees. EK nanananananananana...BATMAN
spaceace12 Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 more photos. In case you forgot who owns the park, Six flags poles, plus six flags, must be Six Flags.
Hang And Bang Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Great pics, Spaceace! Your patience in looking for good shots paid off. Glad to see the Batman pic included!
TheRapidsNerd Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 GREAT TR! Not only rapids love, but my first, AND time lapse pics! Bonus cool points for the Mystery Machine and Wood Bell. Believe it or not, I'm also digging the EK construction. How they're pulling a Boardwalk Bullet and shoe-horning that much coaster into such a small area is truly impressive. Big Thanks! EDIT: Thanks for my new avatar! Working on animated .gif under 50k.
Six Flags Addict Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Cool PTR. It looks like you had a really awesome time.
mcjaco Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I have but one question. How can you love a ride not only before you've riden it, but even before it's done being constructed? What if, it's one large pile a poo for a ride?
spaceace12 Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 I have but one question. How can you love a ride not only before you've riden it, but even before it's done being constructed? What if, it's one large pile a poo for a ride? The structure and GCI's reputation for being smooth.
Carnage Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Anyway, onto the pictures. Some where not taken by me, so they maybe crooked. Sure, sure, blame someone else. How convenient. Nice shots of the ferris wheel.
Voyage_luvr Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Wow, I can't wait to go in about a month or so whenever EK opens. So was Boss alot better than last season. Believe it or not I actually enjoyed Ninja more than Boss and that's saying alot with Ninja being a Vekoma death machine (well at least it's not as bad as a boomerang.) Ninja is a very picky ride. Sometimes I find it enjoyable and other times that ride is a flat out b****.
Pufferfish Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Great pictures. EK looks awesome, a much needed addition to the park. I hope I can get out there sometime.
spaceace12 Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 So was Boss alot better than last season. I wouldn't go allot, but it was quite a bit, it was rideable without many issues afterwards like last year.
Warlord694 Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I thought it rode much better. But then again it has been very wet around here lately. I'll have to see how it rides when the wood dries out in July/August. Hopefully track repairs fixed its extreme roughness.
JamesMC Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I haven't posted for awhile but.... The Grammar Police are coming to get you . . . Allot means to distribute or to allocate. A Lot is two words. Blame my English teacher many years ago for drilling this into me but it's one of my pet peeves. In any case, nice pix and I certainly hope to be lucky enough to ride EK this year- it's looking mighty good. Good job on the TR. (and sorry about my pet peeves)
spaceace12 Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 I will ride EK this year, just don't when exactly. I got something in the works for that though. Anyway, here is a quick video I put together with some better editing software I bought. So, this is where I am stuck, I need figure out where I need transitions. EDIT: See post below.
Tanks4me05 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 ^The video was pretty good, except for one thing: I think that the "coaster" sound volume should be quiter and the "music" sound volume should be louder. Did you ride that Bussink Evolution? If you did, was it fun? I want to ride one of those rides. Very badly.
spaceace12 Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 Music is maxxed. This is one of those personal preferences. I prefer a little more natural sound, There was only one instance where I need to bring down the sound of a coaster a little and that was right near the beg. Bussink Evolution? You mean the thing I had in the video, spinning and going upside down? If so, no, I don't do spinning rides that well (THBS sometimes gets where I just have to look down at the car and no look around depending on how much spinning is going on) and I havent' tried it yet.
TheRapidsNerd Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I like the video! Definately great to see Thunder River, however, also great to see Freeze, Tony Hawk, and yes, even the train. The music was catchy and lent itself well. Cool close-up wheel shots in the beginning. Sweet!
thrillrideseeker Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Great video! I am so dumb I sware... When I first saw the drop tower I was like "Pretty a drop tower." then I started to see the white trees and I was all like "OMG THE TOWER IS FALLING." It took me forever to realize you were moving. Anyways... great video! I love the rapid ride footage! ~Matthew
spaceace12 Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 So I revised it again because I found some transitions and the title maker. So here is version 2. If anyone sees an area that might need a transition or something, let me know. sfopeningdaywmm.wmv
