australianalex Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 ^Wait...what was that about? I assume it was about Invertigo being moved to Dorney, and the post was correct in guessing what part of Dorney it'd be located.
ArundelHigh Coasters Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 ^Wait...what was that about? Â Â I was digging through some old posts in this thread, when Invertigo was first announced to be removed, and someone wrote that as a possibility for it's new location. I thought it was funny that they guessed completely correct, lol.

Angry_Gumball Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 GCI posted some new Gold Striker porn up on their Facebook, here's some of the latest happenings. Looks like things are moving along pretty well! Cement work for upper portion of lift has begun! Coming out of the first drop. For you concrete slab enthusiasts out there... Looking back at lift and area for transfer building.
Double0Kevin Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 To be honest, the double down did not really excite me when I saw the art work, but looking at the real thing thus far, I'm getting pretty amp'd for it. I love how often they have been posting updates on this thing by the way. I'm really excited to have a good woodie in NorCal again (not really counting Giant Dipper as NorCal, more central).
Angry_Gumball Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 ^Definitely lots of coverage...between us, CGA, and GCI, this is probably the most frequent I've seen in regards to 2013 coaster construction updates. I will probably be back out that way on the 29th to see the much higher lift!
robman Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Well we can end the wheel debate now, Gold Striker is going to use steel wheels! Â Evan, a GCI engineer is doing a AMA on reddit today which can be found, Here Here's what I asked him. Yes I put the wrong year, should say '08 instead of '09.
Tmcdllr Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Well we can end the wheel debate now, Gold Striker is going to use steel wheels! Evan, a GCI engineer is doing a AMA on reddit today which can be found, Here   I wonder what they mean by the noise issue is "resolved" now since they are using steel wheels?  The more pics of this I see the more awesome it looks and the more I can't wait to ride!
Double0Kevin Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 ^I was thinking that maybe the issue was resolved as in the city told Prudential to shove it and approved the ride. Â Also they heavily modified those turns out there, moving them away from the building. That may be what they meant as well.
Tmcdllr Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 ^I was thinking that maybe the issue was resolved as in the city told Prudential to shove it and approved the ride. Â ..... I like that one!
Blue Fire Guy Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 YES! YES! YES! That means it should ideally go balls out from start to finish, just needs a little breaking in after opening and some bay area morning fog to lube the track up...making it glisten...dripping wet with moisture...allowing the train to go harder and harder, faster and faster...just imagine a night ride after a rainstorm! Â Also they heavily modified those turns out there, moving them away from the building. That may be what they meant as well. I noticed that when I observed the layout from Star Tower, it doesn't seem to protrude out towards the building the way the old layout did. Also, lower to the ground + tighter = more out-of-control ride.
Angry_Gumball Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 And I'm glad I'm not the only one who was making these innuendos (as evidenced during our SFDK trip, talking about the greased up slide)... Â The Prudential/Middle Finger Turn is definitely directed away from the pesky office buildings. I know the Pictorium building will help dampen a lot of the noise...but I also agree, I'm going to tell myself and believe that the resolutions made for Gold Striker to happen was that the city told them to shove it and deal with it...don't like it, leave! Â So steel wheels...this thing should fly then! I was under the impression that GS would have PU wheels and possibly give a 'mushy' ride. To get a feel of what it be like/sound like, I was visioning this scenario when riding Thrilla Gorilla at SFDK, in which the ride vehicles run on a PU wheel, running along a steel strip, mounted on a wooden structure. It was pretty quiet, but perhaps a bit 'mushy' for what a wood coaster should feel like.
Swornenemy Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I'm looking forward to next season more and more. Definitely will make the 3 hour drive more than a couple times this summer.
XYZ Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Steel wheels! Yay! Not only will it make GS amazing, but it will give Prudential a bigger headache.
Double0Kevin Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 The funny thing is that Prudential doesn't even operate out of that building. It's just one of the properties the own and lease. I think Avaya and Citrix are currently the tenants. Prudential is just concerned about getting future tenants.

But face it, it's not Avaya or Citrix that is getting the headache, it's Prudential.
ArizonaGuy Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I was just wondering since I haven't been able to find something about it but is there a reason they are using a lot of concrete slab foundation vs. just using footers????
JonnyRCT3 Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I was just wondering since I haven't been able to find something about it but is there a reason they are using a lot of concrete slab foundation vs. just using footers???? Â As far as I can tell, footers are being used.

I think Avaya and Citrix are currently the tenants. Prudential is just concerned about getting future tenants. Â I think Prudential is actually right on the other side of 101 if I'm not mistaken (thought I saw it on Google Maps a while back anyway). I believe you're right about who's currently in those buildings. I know in the past Nortel was one of the tenants (and I think they were part of the roadblock/complaining tenant). I know Namco/Bandai was in there for a while, not sure if they're still there. Â Back to Gold Striker, I hope this coaster gets taken care of unlike it's cousin up north...which has become quite the rattle-bucket over the years. I remember riding Roar from 1999-2004 and it rode pretty decent during those times. This past weekend it had it's jackhammer moments but was a bit better than 2011 when I rode. I have faith though and they'll take care of GS.

I asked GCI about that back in august. You can read what they said here.
Flagg O'Dim Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Looks like Subway is moving in: Â http://smartpermit.santaclaraca.gov/tm_bin/tmw_cmd.pl?tmw_cmd=StatusViewCase&shl_caseno=BLD2012-30518
Angry_Gumball Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) Mmmmmm....Tuna Melts.... I can see them being overpriced (surprise, surprise...) and can see the contents in the subs being 'skimped out' if they don't already skimp out on toppings and such at a normal Subway. Â I wonder where it will be located. My guess is that it will be in the old icecream/old sign shop. Edited December 22, 2012 by Angry_Gumball
robman Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Too bad they will be way overpriced, which is fine with me as im not a Subway person (prefer Togo's) im sure it would be a good addition to the park. Â Â I also agree, I think in will go in the old Ice Cream shop/ Chip place.
